About the property

4 BR / 3BA Lakefront House With Private Dock And Amazing Views!

Located in a very private cove on beautiful Lake Chatuge, this 4 bedroom, 3 bath house has plenty of room for families or can be intimate enough for a couple’s getaway. The home has a partially covered large back deck that runs the length of the house with wonderful views of the lake and sunset. The trees help to keep the house and deck cool but still allow for great views.

Each of the four bedrooms has a large sliding glass door facing the lake. The master bedroom is on the main floor has a queen bed and private bathroom and opens up onto the deck. It has brand new hardwood flooring. The second room on the main floor has a queen bed, closet, opens onto the deck, and is next to the second bathroom and also has new flooring. There is a large living room includes a 60" LCD TV and a wood burning fireplace and to help you relax and enjoy the views. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials to cook for your group.

Downstairs is a large living room that is wonderful for kids and includes a table and board games, books, an a TV with a large movie selection, original Playstation, a foosball table, 2 couches and a sleeper sofa. The smaller bedroom has a queen bed and the larger bedroom is recently renovated and has a twin over full bunk bed with an extra twin mattress under the bed. The house can sleep 10 people in beds plus an additional 2 on the sleeper sofa.

Down from the house is walkway to the dock as well as a swing to relax by the water. The cove is very quiet even on the busiest days. However it is still deep water and the depth at the end of the dock is 10’ during the summer months and still has water in the winter months. Children can swim or you can fish off the dock without the fear of boats being nearby. Please note that you will need a North Carolina fishing license in order to fish from the dock. We also provide kayaks and a stand up paddle board at no charge! We also recently completed a small fire pit for you to enjoy s'mores and a good fire by the water.

The driveway and parking area was just renovated and provides an area next to the road to park a boat trailer if you bring your own boat. The dock has tie downs to allow you to keep it in the water during your stay. There is a public boat ramp 2 miles away at Jackrabbit. If you don’t bring your own boat, you can rent ski boats, pontoon boats and jet skies at the local marinas. There are several marinas around lake Chatuge. Chatuge Cove Marina is nearby on the NC side of the lake about a 5 min. drive and the larger ones (Boundary Waters Marina and The Ridges Marina) are across the lake on the GA side, near Hiawassee, about a 20 min. drive.

The Jackrabbit Biking Trails are only 2 miles from the house and provide another option to be outdoors and enjoy the area. The trails include a simple 3 mile loop suitable for families and more difficult loops for experienced mountain bikers.

Please contact me for reservations of two weeks or more for additional discounts.

Thank you for looking at our property and we look forward to sharing our home with you.

About Johnny Mira-Knippel

My wife and I have been coming to Lake Chatuge since we were children and have grown up loving weekends on the water. We have done the same with our four children and we are excited to finally be able to purchase a house on the lake and share it with others. Our family is always outside and spend our weekends at the ball field, on the Jackrabbit biking trails, or swimming in the lake at every chance. We love to make the house better every chance we get and each time you visit, there will likely be something new.

Johnny Mira-Knippel purchased this house in 2016

Why Johnny Mira-Knippel chose Hayesville

We had been looking at this property for several years because of its location on the private cove near Ho-Hum campground. I always loved the fact that children could swim in the cove even during the busiest weekends and feel safe. The lot still has several mature oak trees that help it feel more secluded but also keep the dock and deck cool during the summer.

What makes this house unique

The views from the bedrooms and the fact at every room of the house can see the lake made us fall in love with this home. As you lie in bed at night, you can leave the sliding door open and get the cool breeze coming through your room and then wake up to a beautiful sky. The deck runs the whole length of the house and provides so much room to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

Wonderful property for my family

  • 5 of 5

I have 3 children 9, 13, and 15 and they loved it. The two boys had their downstairs pad and my daughter and husband had the upstairs. You can see everyone fish( and we caught alot), swim, and kayak while you are sitting on the deck cooking/chilling or whatever. You can dock your boat/skis right at the house. Good time and Johnny was very responsive and thanks for getting us CNN for the game!

Just know it is a steep walk down to the lake. My mom is 70(she stayed for 2 days) and is very mobile but alot aren't.

Thanks again and we will be back.

The perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We evacuated from FL due to Irma, the closest hotel I could find for my family of 9 and pets was TN. The thought of spending all that time in a hotel was awful. Luckily we ended up learning about Home

Johnny's lake house was amazing and perfect for us. We kayaked, swam and even hiked. The place was large enough so we had plenty of room. I spent every morning on the deck looking over the lake as the sun came up. We had so much fun we hope to come back...under different circumstances of course!

Wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Johnny's lake-house. The house is located in an inlet of the lake, which is quieter and more secluded. There are kayaks and a paddle-board, fishing gear, and adult size life vests for guests to use, which were great fun. We also enjoyed having two bedrooms upstairs (for the adults) and two downstairs (for the kids). The house was clean and comfortable, which board games, wifi, and plenty of linens and towels. There are several hiking and biking trails in the area. Would definitely stay at this lakehouse again.

Perfect location, cozy home, & welcoming owners!

  • 5 of 5

This lakefront house was the perfect location and layout for our mini family reunion! Johnny was incredibly kind, helpful and quick in responding to every question we had leading up to the trip. The beds were comfortable, the sliding doors in each room made us all feel at home in our own space and brought in great light & the beautiful deck (very well enclosed - great for kids) were all very much appreciated and enjoyed. The location on Lake Chatuge is perfect - you are off from the main section which lends to quiet evenings enjoying the view and great fishing! The house is situated on a loop of other beautiful homes and views that made for nice, quiet morning walks with family. We would absolutely stay here again!! Thank you so much, Johnny & family, for all you do to make vacationers like us enjoy our stay!

Great place to chillax and get away....

  • 5 of 5

House was clean and Johnny was very responsive, which are the two big things for us. We pretty much spent the entire time on the dock / in the water; the cove is perfect, no wake zone so no boat traffic, our 3 daughters were free to roam the entire cove with no worries. Paddle board and kayaks were awesome, they got a ton of use from us. Only 4 miles from downtown Hiawassee, so close to restaurants, shops, etc... The scenery is incredible: the lake, the mountains, pastures, etc... it has a little bit of everything. House is big, lots of room, sits up on a bluff so almost like being in a tree-house, you are in the canopy, but go outside and the lake is your backyard. Thanks Johnny !!!

We had a great time at this property. The house is spacious and clean. The owners provided Kayaks for my kids. We spent most of our time on the dock. There was little to no boat traffic. We will definitely return to this place!
