About Tracy

I am a native Louisianian living in New York City. I wanted to have a place I could come back to, because I have great friends there. And besides, it is one of the greatest places on the planet!

Tracy purchased this house in 2015

Why Tracy chose Faubourg Marigny

I wanted a property in the Marigny/Bywater, so when I checked out the location and walked inside, I fell in love! The tall ceilings and turn of the century details make the home very special.

Perfect Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for my recent birthday/girls trip to NOLA! It comfortably accommodated 6 and had everything we needed for the weekend. The home was super clean and SO beautifully decorated with art from local artists that were the PERFECT background or subject for the many pictures we took! The back patio was wonderful for girls talk, the "vegetation roof" above the pergola shielded us from the sun and rain and provided us a little extra privacy. The neighborhood was in a great location and was either a short walk, or Uber ride to everything we did while visiting. Speaking of the neighborhood, it is quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Tracy was so responsive and even gave us great recommendations on places to eat and play. She reached out to us several times prior to our trip to ensure we had everything we needed and even had a personalized letter and a cold 6 pack of local beer awaiting us upon our arrival! We will DEFINITELY be staying in this home the next time we're in NOLA and you should too!

Tracy’s place easily accommodated our group of six. The house is spacious and well equipped. It is easy walking to great restaurants, bars and sightseeing. Tracy and her property manager were very friendly, responsive and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Adorable house

  • 5 of 5

I loved the house it was the perfect size for a group of 6. Everything was nice and well maintained. Tracy was great to work with I was even allowed to bring my pup so the whole family was able to come along on the trip. Everything is less than 2 miles away and if you don't mind a walk there are some great locations near by. It's in a safe area and parking right in front of the house. I look forward to our next visit.

NOLA!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautifully decorated and the pictures don't do the size justice. Especially for the price, the rooms are spacious and fully stocked with anything you would need. There is also a nice shaded sitting area in the back yard. She has very soft blankets for you to use and even the pull out couch is comfortable! If you're trying to walk to the bars on Bourbon st. it's pretty far, but the French Market and Cafe Du Monde are much closer and there are local bars down the street. Overall we had a great time and can't wait to go back!

Map

Car: not necessary

Restaurants in my neighborhood (these are all in walking distance):

1) Franklin

2) Paladar 511

3) Oxalis & Café Henri (next door to each other)

4) St. Roch Market - *It is an old warehouse that was converted to a nice food hall, which I highly recommend. Very cool. Not around the corner but pretty darn close (deeper in the Bywater):

5) Bacchanal Wine - *This is first come first serve but really cool.

6) Elizabeth's - *Brunch is first come first serve, but you can make reservations for dinner.

7) Mimi's in the Marigny - Tapas bar and very popular among the locals

8) Feelings Café

9) Silk Road

10) Cane and Table (a 15 minute walk to French Quarter )

Pizza/Fast Food

11) Pizza Delicious

12) Domino's - 1120 Franklin Avenue

13) McDonald's - 2609 St Claude

Coffee/Breakfast Places (all walking distance from my house):

14) Cake Cafe & Bakery

15) Satsuma Café

16) Press Street Station & Gallery (one of my favorites!)

17) Flora Gallery & Coffee Shop (at Royal and Franklin)

18) Saint Coffee

Traditional New Orleans Restaurants:

19) Commander's Palace - I recommend jazz brunch. You can take the street car there from Canal Street. It is an area called uptown with beautiful old New Orleans homes. Afterwards, you can take a quick Uber to the Ponchartrain Hotel where you can have drinks at the rooftop bar, Hot Tin.

20) Court of Two Sisters - Offers jazz brunch and in the Quarter

21) Antoine's - A classic that's located in the Quarter. A little on the pricey side but worth it! 22) Irene's - At St Philip and Chartres in the Quarter. Takes reservations up to parties of 25

23) Gumbo Shop - Excellent gumbo and in the Quarter near St Louis Cathedral.

24) Port of Call - Take a stroll down beautiful Esplanade and have a burger at this classic favorite!

25) La Petite Grocery - Serves lunch, dinner, and brunch on Magazine Street. After your meal, take a walk down Magazine St and window shop. Magazine St is well known for the shops and restaurants.

26) Cochon (Cajun) - Cochon Butcher is next door and has amazing sandwiches!

27) Parkway Bakery & Tavern (home of the original poboy)

28) Central Grocery (home of the original muffuletta and walking distance!)

29) Acme Oyster House (raw oysters)

My favorite restaurant is Compere Lapin (top chef restaurant and mostly locals). Balise is close to Compere Lapin and has the same owner as La Petite Grocery.

For live jazz, walk to Frenchman Street which is only 10 minutes from the house. Bars with all live music, so everyone will have a blast. A few of my favorite bars in and near the French Quarter are the following: *Monteleone Carrousel Bar & *Sazerac Bar

Museums, art galleries, parks: There are so many art galleries in and near the French Quarter, just pop in one when you see something you like.

WWII Museum - The short film is not included in the museum admission price, but it is worth seeing.

Ogden Museum of Art - Next door to the WWII Museum

New Orleans Museum of Art - It is in City Park and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden is (free) and right next to it. There are also kayaks and paddle boards that you can rent in City Park near the museum. Audubon Aquarium is on the Riverwalk near Canal Street and close enough to walk or hop on the number 5 bus to Canal Street - (URL HIDDEN)

Audubon Zoo - Located in Audubon Park which is a 20 car ride (without traffic) or about an hour via public transit. If you have the time, the Audubon Park and Zoo are a must do.

Crescent Park - A short walk from the house. If you're in town on the third Saturday of the month, there is a bazaar featuring local arts and food trucks
