About this property

Romantic Loire Valley cottage for 2 with superb heated pool & carp fishing lak

'The Bread Oven' (Le Four a Pain) is a Wendy House for couples - a romantic, picturesque old stone building set away on its own complete with masses of character, including oak beams, a terracotta tiled floor and the beautifully restored original oven. No, you don't have to cook in it, just turn on the feature lighting! Outside, the lovely garden terrace is centred around a mysterious 'roll-right stone' and has a BBQ, table, chairs and parasol.
The Ground Floor has a picture window overlooking an orchard and the swimming pool and the comfortable living/dining area has a cafe table and chairs and a sofa to watch DVDs on a flat screen TV or listen to the modern music tower. The adjoining kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. The shower-room is compact but modern.
Set above on a galleried wooden mezzanine floor, up some fairly steep steps is a double bed with a window overlooking a magnificent, mature walnut tree. The cottage has full electric central heating and is an ideal and extremely popular choice for two people.

Le Moulin de Boutineau and its three charming fully restored cottages lies in Indre-et-Loire in the tranquil countryside heart of the Loire Valley - but is not remote, just 2 kms from the famous medieval town of Loches, with its own chateau, restaurants, café’s, bars, shops and lively twice-weekly market.
Spend idyllic days relaxing around a sparkling 12x6 metre heated swimming-pool with nearby orchard activity area or explore the 15 acres of magnificent tree-lined grounds, fields and woods surrounding this peaceful old watermill dating back to the 1730's.
If you enjoy carp fishing there are carp (15-40 lbs plus) in a glorious private 2.5 acre Moulin Lake. The three delightful oak-beamed cottages sleeping 6, 4+1 and a romantic 2 can also accommodate an exclusive party of 13 and all have their own garden/patio and BBQ area, as well as cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, TV/DVD/stereo music tower, full central heating and access to washing/drying facilities, the swimming pool, hot-tub, bicycles, badminton and table-tennis.

Carp Fishing at Le Moulin de Boutineau: There is the idyllic, private 2.5 acre Moulin Lake where you can fish for carp (mirror & common 15-40 lbs plus) and some large tench. It has level, easy walking access around the entire perimeter which is lined with a wide variety of mature trees, flowers and the abundant wildlife includes kingfishers and red squirrels. It is a perfect, tranquil setting for carp fishing. There are five marked swims (max. 4 anglers) plus an accessible island, and we also have a range of standard carp fishing equipment for hire as well as a selection of quality baits available. Our beautiful, pristine fish will give you quite a fight, but are of course, just for catching, photographing and releasing again!

Cost of Carp Fishing during the whole season from March to November is 150 euros per angler per week or 50 euros per day. You must be staying here to carp fish on the lake, making it all a great combination of value, comfort, accessibility and privacy. It is possible to carp fish the lake exclusively, but only as a group of 2-4 anglers booking the Fisherman's Cottage during the early/late periods of March-May and September-November. Ask for details.

Sweet little cottage - just right for the 2 of us for 3 nights. You need to be ok climbing ladders!
Well cared for property with lovely gardens and fishing lake. Kind hosts. Cozy cottage. No WiFi in the cottage which was a nuisance as we had to stand in the courtyard to receive it - not good in the rain! The hot water was plentiful with good pressure but scorching hot - could be dangerous.

Out of this world
I don't really know what to say about this place to do it the justice it deserves but here goes, from the moment we arrived we were blown away by the beauty of the place we all just looked at each other and agreed we had made the right decision on going there, the flowers we're in full bloom, sun was shinning absolutely perfect!!! We were then greeted by the owners who we all liked really nice helpful people and by the end of the trip enjoyed a glass ( or 6) of wine with them we were then walked around each cottage which have been renovated to an extemally high standard, very clean and comfy once we had sorted out who was staying were for me it was straight to the lake were again was blown away by the Beauty Of the place the lake is perfect so peaceful with some cracking fish I enjoyed a good week catching fish to 30lb however the fish won't just jump on the hook so a certain. Amount of thought is needed making it all the more rewarding!!! After sitting around the lake we then chilled out around the amazing pool and meeting up in the court yard to share lunch in the sun, to round the already fantastic week we had a meal cooked for us all on the last night followed by 5 or 6 bottles of wine!!! What a place lovely people! We are going to go back for sure!!!!!

A haven for peace and relaxation
What a fantastic break, staying in a great gite, surrounded by beautiful French countryside. Jude and Julian were fantastic hosts, always on hand to answer any questions. And the fishing was amazing - I smashed my personal best twice in a week. For a true relaxing break, with great fishing, this is the place to be. We will definitely be coming back!

We moved to France with our then 6-year-old daughter Saskia in 2005 after falling in love with Le Moulin de Boutineau a year earlier, a wreck of a watermill and overgrown grounds left abandoned for 10 years. It was a huge step and massive change to permanently leave rural Leicestershire in England for a French countryside lifestyle near the medieval market town of Loches in the beautiful Loire Valley, but we have never regretted it for a moment (well possibly for one or two moments during the lengthy restoration work when some thought we were completely mad!). However, we had a vision of what it all could be and thankfully our guests - many of whom keep returning - seem to love it too.

Why they chose this property

"It's just all so much better than in the photos - they can never quite convey the lovely atmosphere of the place" is probably the comment we have heard from our guests most often over the years. Our aim was always to offer a really good quality holiday cottages where the men had an option to carp fish - and catch big ones - close-by on a picturesque lake, but it would still be a great holiday for their wives/partners/family & friends who would enjoy the sunshine, large pool, BBQ's, lovely grounds and nearby town and chateau's equally as much.

What makes this property unique

Beautiful grounds - a wonderful proper specimen carp-fishing lake with 15 acres of accessible, peaceful woodland, mature trees, orchards and streams shared with kingfishers, buzzards, red squirrels and deer. The clear air and warm, starry night skies with owls but no light pollution. We added the superb 12x6 metre heated swimming pool and can provide that special bottle of much-underrated Loire wine that makes one of our home-cooked evening meals in the courtyard a perfect memory for so many of our visitors.
