You will wake up each morning to breathtaking views, stream meandering through .... wildlife sneaking by the bear, coyote, cougar, big horn sheep.... you name with birds singing all day long... Yes, we wanted to live in the picture! Spectacular Property - location remote for sure

We had a great time at Daren & Diana's place -the house was clean and very spacious, we were a boys trip so the extra room was welcome. We were a little surprised at the amount of beds (only 4) - but once we discovered how comfy the couches were there were no issues.

Views are incredible, kitchen and balcony/BBQ are awesome places to hang out, and they ahve set up the Audioo/visial stuff very well - linkedin speakers all over the house, TVs in evry room etc.

Only potential negative for us was the proximity to either Kelowna or Vernon - it is half between the two on the West side of the lake, so at least a half hour drive to either. The Spallumcheen golf course is more like 25 minutes away also.

That being said, we only needed to go to town for the golf, so if you are looking for a proper getaway and don't plan on doing much driving, it's an awesome location.

My weekend stay.

Your house is spectacular! You can feel the love and passion in the unique decor.

I enjoyed my drive off of the main highway to your place along the west side of the lake. The winding roads were fun to drive with a wonderful view of the lake all the way. Lots of pull outs and turn outs so I didn't feel the pressure from the local more experienced drivers. I just let them pass. It reminds me of the winding roads in Europe.

I liked being out in the quiet wilderness. The birds, breeze, and sunshine woke me from an extremely comfortable sleep.

There is a balcony that wraps around the whole house so I could escape or sit in the sun as I chose. The steady flow of water from the creek was peaceful and mesmerizing.

Simply loved your decor! So many sitting areas! The view of the lake was wonderful. The weekend was hot but the breeze throughout the house was very comfortable.

This house sits up high so the views are wider. The switch back road was fine to climb with ample parking at the bottom or top.

Would I go again? Absolutely. Would I recommend? Absolutely.

This is a place for people who do not want the box hotel/motel experience. A peaceful place in nature's trees.

House with no window blinds and exposed insulation

While the log cabin feel is certainly very good, there are major problems!

#1 issue is the fact that there are no curtains or blinds!!!!! Not even in the bathroom!!!! Really? Who has a house without blinds!!!!!!!!! This is the number one requirement for a house and I can’t believe there were none!

And there was dog hair everywhere. You are not able to move anywhere without seeing and breathing a lot of dog hair. Thank god none of us were allergic.

The ad states that the basement has a queen bed and it is only missing drywall. That is clearly not true. There is insulation and vapour barrier up in most places with a proper taping job, however, there are large patches where the insulation and sound proofing insulation has no plastic barrier. There is a very musty smell and you can see particles flying around in the basement. Nobody should ever risk sleeping in an area because of this. Now because I had a party of ten, we didn’t want to take the chance of sleeping in the basement, we ended up sleeping upstairs, all of us. This means we had to use couches. I called the owner to complain about this and all he could say was that it was posted on the ad. He also stated that no one has had an issue in the past five years that it hasn’t had drywall. Really! Basement unfinished for 5 years! I could see that this is probably true because there are fine dust particles all over the house. These particles fly around the house and drop when someone walks around upstairs.

Guess what, the oven didn’t work! I called the owner and he had me walk to the electrical panel and turn off the circuit for the oven to try to reset it. This didn’t work and he offered to come to the house to fix it but he would take an hour to get there. Unfortunately, with kids, people need to eat right away, we can’t wait. I was not impressed with this, oven should have been working.

The owner has tried to make it enjoyable by having TVs and music everywhere which you will enjoy. You are in the middle of Vernon and Kelowna… so pretty much no going in to town for quick errands. The ad states 35 minutes to Kelowna, this is not true, it clearly takes 45 minutes minimum, also there is construction on the road so it can certainly take longer.

There are nice views and you do see a lot of wildlife which is nice. Depending on the vehicle you drive, you may have an issue driving up because it is a very steep driveway. Remember to take a running start.

Owner's Response: Sorry we could not make you happy.. Your Wishing to hurt us.. vrbo publishes all reviews. Well..I Will try are correct - no blinds..We indicated we are on a 1/2 acre with 1/2 acre between..didn't know this #1 requirement..Why all the exclamation..deliver as mean as possible.. We have a beagle dog, (love her - Roxy) there is dog hair in our house, but I want the house as clean as possible for every visitor..and strive to do this with most care..hope our Pics show). Basement, unfinished, not certain we want to finish it..insulation..The wall insulation is 100% complete.. Was and remains..The ceiling in the basement.. We have installed some sound barrier in spots ..not covered by muffle out sounds if someone wishes to spend time in an unfinished basement..cleaned, organized with couches and bed..there is no moldy smell..your just wanting us to hurt. The stove..(u ment oven - u had all burners goin) By accident One of your guests pushed too many buttons at once, it is computerized, got mixed up with the button pushing..resetting at the breaker box, requires a moment of took to reset..A is a new stove! ...ya I know, threw in an exclamation..... Fine dust particles..humans create over 80% of the dust in our homes..the house was cleaned and washed and dusted.. You came with 10 or more guests to a "house".. In and out and created what you experienced with your 10 or more guests..dust.. not a lodge..advised on vrbo setup that we had the 3 beds and futon...(sleeps 7 with comfort) with couches...not including the basement... Vrbo put us up to 10 guests..not a not want to be or considered a lodge...we are a log home, with a 23' high prow..(no curtains) is 35 min to either Vernon or kelowna...cannot control construction upgrades..happens sometimes halt for dignataries..I know sarcastic..want to stay in city..close to hustle..bustle..we are not....nor wish to not want future guests ie.your family ..that would be upset in our home..we are proud..not a hotel/motel in the city who offer one room bed for 1/2 the price.. My belief that 10 or more may need a lodge. not looking to fill our home with as many people as possible? It's difficult, one tends to want to defend negativity..We wish to be kind, caring..and giving ..a home for those who wish to get away to a beautiful home (we are proud to have) secluded from the every day.....

Know what you're getting yourself into!

The house is built beautifully, however, there are some things you may want to keep in mind before booking:

1. It isn't "pet free." There was cat hair on the couches and the sheets. Fine if you like cats, but if you have allergies, you may want to reconsider.

2. It is very difficult to get up the driveway. Unless you have an all wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive, good luck.

3. If you're looking to go to Kelowna or into the city on your trip, it's quite a drive. I wouldn't recommend it, seriously. Even on the nicest days, the roads are winding and long, my kids literally suffered headaches every day. The roads are right by the edge of a cliff. I seriously cannot imagine driving here in the winter. You'd be so much better off finding another place in a city.

4. It doesn't sleep 10. At the most, it sleeps 7 comfortably, and the basement is only half finished, so two people will be sleeping in a non finished area.

5. When they say you'll see wildlife, they aren't kidding. We had deer and mountain goats on our property. So if the thought of that scares you, reconsider.

6. There are no curtains. At all. Even in the bathrooms.

But here were some highlights:

1. Fruit trees on the property (cherries, plums, peaches)

2. Very relaxing outdoor furniture

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your input... Definitely would never say we are pet free, love are extremely clean..... and choose the animals that can stay at our home. Wildlife, well we have to say we are proud that we can share our land with the wildlife and are excited each sighting.... We do have over 2500 feet of finished living space for you to enjoy and the basement though we allow use it is in the prep stage with insulation and poly from the floor to the ceiling, most of it is windows as it is a walk-out... Our ad indicates 3 queen beds, and a double futon...we also have 3 beautiful living room spaces with couches if you need....we haven't required blinds as we are on a 1/2 acre in a private rural setting with 1/2 acres between homes, with breathtaking views our home sits higher from the road, having these spectacular views...our road is steeper than your average, but we do have parking at the bottom too... 100feet away ...the main road is known by drivers and motorcyclists for its adventurous, winding, wildlife....these things too have concern for those same actually a historic is situated just 30 minutes from both main cities...making it a great break from the hectic traffic...and we have beaches up and down the road for enjoyment..... We are happy to hear you found our house beautiful and that you enjoyed the fruit trees too.... Thank you...

Fantastic, breathtaking

Staying at Daren and Diana's home was an experience I will never forget. The breathtaking view and fantastic accommodations made life quick an easy. Close to the beach and surrounded by beautiful trees and scenery. THis was a first for my friends and I, and it will deffenitly not be the last!!! We'll be back next year!!
