We stayed for a month and didn't want to leave! The apartment is small, but very functional and the balcony overlooking the city was wonderful.
We spent 4 nights at the Castore and really appreciated the central location. We have been to Rome several times but usually stayed near the train station. We found the apartment a comfortable place to relax in the evening and my wife enjoyed her morning coffee sitting on the small balcony. Being at the end of long vacation, we had no desire to cook so we did not take advantage of the kitchen other than to heat water and use the microwave. We also appreciated the fact that the apartment has the quietest bedroom that we have ever slept in. The only noise we heard was a massive thunder clap one early morning. The bathroom had a tub with a hand shower.
We would certainly stay here again and would recommend it to those looking for a convenient central location.
We so enjoyed our stay for 4 days/3 nights right in the center of everything near Pantheon. Giacomo, owner, was very helpful, responsive and friendly--a delight to deal with--helped with transfer from airport to apt and with restaurant recs. The apt was well appointed in the kitchen and bath. Everything we needed was there for making coffee, eggs and toast for breakfast and appetizers/cocktails in the evening. You could cook a simple dinner there for 2-3. We had breakfast every morning on the balcony as well as cocktails in the evening. Lovely. King bed was very comfortable. Plenty of hanging and drawer space for clothes. Living room area and sofas were comfortable and generous for two. Bath had nice tub and shower, bidet and sink. Linens were average. AC works well; we only used it one night. There is plenty of cross ventilation via windows in every room. The elevator to the 4th floor is handy. Beyond that, you still have about 10-12 steps to climb to reach the apt. Wasn't a problem but be aware. We had no problem with noise. It was quiet at night. I would recommend this apartment to others who want comfort, casual and totally functional--nothing baroque and no gold leaf! We would stay there again for sure.
Charming apartment in a great location to most big sites. Neighborhood has everything you might need in walking distance. Great place to see Rome from!
The Castore apartment is in a great location, easy distance to the Pantheon, Campo de Fiori, the Ghetto, Trastevere. Giacomo told us which bus to catch from the train station and which stop, met us at the building and got us settled in, and also arranged for an early morning pick-up to the airport at the end of our six-night stay. Tiny kitchen, but fine to make coffee in the morning (stove-top espresso pot - there was a single and a 3-cup pot). A/C was greatly appreciated, as was the elevator. Has satellite TV in living room and bedroom, which we didn't use. Comfy couch, but stained - could use a slipcover. Our only complaint would be the bed; it was a rock hard futon pad, very much like sleeping on the ground; that definitely needs an upgrade.
Clean, charming apartment with amazing location. Kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast every morning that we enjoyed on the balcony. Well functioning AC (a must in the summer months) and decent wifi. Our one big complaint (and the reason we give 4 instead 5 stars): the bed in master bedroom was hard like a rock! After 6 nights our backs were bruised. Considering the price we paid, the purchase of an IKEA mattress to put on top would be paid off in less than a day...
Other little things: a couple more folding chairs for the balcony would have been nice as well as a universal converter for the outlets.
Overall a great place to stay.
