Renovated cottage with bags of character ideal for a family or friends getaway
- english, french
My partner Graham and I are a friendly Anglo-French couple who live in the other wing of the house. Although, especially if using the self checking facility and staying a short time, you may not actually meet us as we both work full time. However, we will generally be around in the evenings and weekends to greet people arriving, answer any questions, sort any issues, or just provide some help if you are planning one of the many local ‘pub walks’.
Why Béatrice chose Sittingbourne
The location is this property big asset. While it is set in an area of natural outstanding beauty (AONB), is a magnet to the local wildlife, and is peaceful and quiet, it is also only 20-30 minutes from the cities of Canterbury, Rochester, and 1h-1h20 on the train to London. Several footpaths cross the local area, just ideal for walkers.
What makes this Cottage unique

Wonderful stay in great location, lovely accommodation and very kind and helpful host.
Wonderful stay in a peaceful location. Easy access to both the coast and the city made it a good base to explore from. The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable. The host was very kind and helpful and both the breakfast on our first morning and the wine and chocolate’s for our anniversary were a very thoughtful addition. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to return again.
Great short stay
We arrived in London after a long trip and drove to the cottage right away. We had a very relaxing stay. It was just what we wanted after a long trip with a small child. Beatrise asked us to provide constructive criticism to make her guests enjoy the place as much as possible. You can tell that she cares as I can't think of anything that she can do to make it better.
Great place located in Kent for a nice getaway
The Stable was a wonderful place to stay for our 3 days in the Kent area. Beatrice was wonderful, she gave us detailed instructions to get there and into the place as well as meet us at the door and showed us around the house. She also made some great recommendations for planning our days. Her brioche and homemade jam was wonderful! The whole place was done with a great balance of quaint English cottage and updated amnesties. The bathtub was great after a long day of walking and hiking. It is hidden in a secluded area where you wake up to beautiful scenery and birds chirping.
Beautiful property ideal for a family stay
Beautifully converted stables - finished to a very high standard. Comfortable, cosy and private. Well equipped and the owner - Beatrice - couldn't have been more helpful, and even left us delicious home baked brioche and home made jam for breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stay. Highly recommended.
Kent weekend break
We had a lovely weekend at the cottage. It was beautiful decorated and very comfortable. My elderly mother slept downstairs, which was convenient for her as it had its own bathroom which was adjacent to her bedroom. Beatrice was the perfect host. She supplied us with warm Brioche and jam on our arrival, which was welcome after a long journey. We didn’t have to worry about milk, tea, coffee etc, as they were all supplied. We had our noisy Chihuahuas with us and Beatrice was totally understanding. She has the most beautiful black Labrador, which in my view is the most gorgeous dog I have ever met. We would definitely stay there again.
Wonderful cottage in an attractive part of the north Kent Downs AONB
At relative short notice, my family booked this charming cottage (former stables) for a couple of nights recently. We were very lucky to secure the cottage as we had been let down by the owner of another cottage we had enquired about in Sussex and it was school half term. The cottage is only an hours drive from our family home but it was a world apart - very rural, tranquil and relaxing. However, it was also very well located to get to attractions such as Leeds Castle, Doddington Place Gardens and numerous quaint villages and traditional pubs. The cottage had everything we needed and was a great place to relax and unwind. We only wish we could have stayed longer, but there is always a next time. The host, Beatrice, was lovely. Very attentive, cheerful and helpful, ably assisted by her beautiful family labrador, Maia. Beatrice also made us a double batch of her home made brioche and jams which were delicious. Our warm and sincere thanks for a lovely short break providing many happy memories.

Places to visit / attractions less than 5 miles away counts Leeds castle, Doddington place, Belmont House and gardens.
