Spectacular views, not a spectacular apartment.
The views from this apartment are fantastic, some of the best you’ll get in Malta!
The apartment is generously proportioned - all 3 bedrooms have plenty of space and storage, and the 3 ensuites are all very good sizes. Sylvanna the House Keeper was very friendly and helpful, and the apartment was spotlessly clean. Although you have to climb several flights of stairs, you can park pretty much outside the apartment block.
However, we were a little disappointed in some of the details: Communication with the owner before our arrival was very limited, which made the pre-holiday a little stressful.
The mattress in the main bedroom (with the view) was rather saggy and not particularly comfortable, this wasn’t helped by a thin ill-fitting sheet and lumpy pillows.
There are 4 metal chairs on the balcony (the apartment sleeps 6) with no padding, so sitting on them for more than 10 minutes gets pretty uncomfortable - never mind trying to spend the evening sitting there enjoying the view.
There’s a two seater bed settee and one chair in the living room. Whilst the TV is very good quality with the bonus of netflix to watch, the seating is so uncomfortable you can’t really relax.
So the location is great and the view is amazing, but the place is let down by simply not being comfortable enough to actually enjoy being in the apartment.
The apartment overlooks the walled areas of the 3 cities and Valleta....no crowds, simple walks along the water a.nd wonderful taxi service. Sylvana welcomed us and genuinely charming and caring.
Spring Vacation in Malta
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment. The accommodation is wonderful as it is clean, modern and has all the comforts we need. The views are spectacular! Sylvanna provided all the information we needed for the area, was attentive to our needs and arranged our airport transfers. A great stay!
Beautiful apartment with a more beautiful view
This is a really nice apartment to visit Valletta. It's clean, well equipped and you feel more then welcome by the host Sylvana.
It's great to sit on the balcony and see Valletta and all the ships.
When I found this aprtment on VRBO I was a bit skeptical because it was a recent listing and had no reviews. I clearly chose it because of the view and the pics and my conversation with the owner. But when I arrived I realized It had everything I was looking for. The neighborhood is local and not touristy, you live among the locals in an old neighborhood. I would go for food shopping in small stores, have chat with the owners or neighbors and enjoy my conversations. I liked our building because despite being few hundred years old ,was completely modernized and was spacious, with a great view from living room, dining room, kitchen and one of the bedrooms. tastefully furnished and clean and comfortable as described. Mr Camilleri (the owner) was very helpful prior our trip and went over every question I had. We went to this place as a family of four with my wife and two adult kids and everyone had fun. My wife is more of a hotel going type but when we arrived and after a day she was happy that we chose this place. We even become friends with one of our local neighbors and invited them for a dinner in our apartment and got invited to their house for an authentic Maltese dinner, wine and fun. You also could walk for five minutes to a swim-able rocky beach if you wouldnt mind not having the sandy beach. My only regret was I should have rented a car because despite close proximity to valleta by boat ( a five minutes boat taxi for 2 euros per person that could pick us or drop off us in front of the building), if you wanted to see more places in Malta, buses are not very frequent or on time, they could be early and if you missed them you had to wait for an hour for the next one. From the airport to the apartment on a quiet sunday evening took about ten minutes without zero traffic otherwise it would be 30-45 minutes. Also as we learned Senglea (our area) was a historic place with old architecture, small streets and lots of stairs to go up and down but not as drastic as some streets in Valletta so be prepared for some walking but rest assure the views are compensating for the walk. Sylvana our house keeper was an absolute joy. She even bought us some bread, ham, milk and eggs and left them in the fridge because we arrived late on Sunday evening and stores were closed. Maltese people made us feel at home and for that I'm very thankful.
Outstanding rental - fabulous views!
We had a wonderful stay at this flat in Senglea. The location was perfect - fantastic views of the Grand Harbor, Valletta and Fort St Angelo. All of that was combined with a strictly neighborhood feel and a local marina with places for dinner.
The flat had a long terrace with that view, a great washer and dryer for clothes, reliable WiFi and air con, and comfortable beds. We would stay again, and will if we return.
A couple of caveats -Senglea and this flat require navigating stairs and long hikes.
Senglea is a little tough to get in and out of. It’s about a 3/4 mile (1.2 km) hike to the ferry to Valletta although there are gondolas nearer. The bus station is a 5-7 minute walk away too, and there are no taxis unless you call. We didn’t mind; we enjoyed the neighborhood and feeling more like a local. Sylvana did a great job of showing us the apt and taking care of our needs. The owner was very responsive to our pre-rental booking and questions.
