Fantastic villa in San Marco
A beautiful property that has been refurbished to a high standard. Pool is beautiful as is the villa - we had an amazing time here! Although the listing says Alberobello, it is in a small town called San Marco. There is a beautiful family-run winery next door, a shop with everything you need and a pharmacy! It is the perfect little town to escape to. I could not recommend this property more! Mimmo and his daughter were very helpful and great with communication!
Although billed as being in well-known Alberobello, the property is actually in the village of San Marco, a couple of miles from Locorotondo. Three properties are round a courtyard containing a beautiful carob tree and the fourth is next door. Also arranged around the courtyard are a pizza oven, fireplace, covered seating area, bathroom and of course the swimming pool and we spent a lot of time in this area (all 14 of us). My daughter and family were first to arrive to be greeted by Mimmo and his English-speaking daughter. I gather they were very relaxed about collecting the various monies, which took place a couple of days later, and the deposit was returned on the day we left. They've been having a pretty poor summer in Italy so far and the weather was cool, wet and windy at times, so when the heating failed to work Mimmo quickly arranged for an engineer to attend and fix it. The pool isn't heated and hadn't had much chance to warm up by early summer, but it didn't stop the children and the occasional adult getting in for a dip. The property is right in the heart of the village in a sort of piazza with a small church and other properties with plenty of parking. Although nothing special to look at San Marco has a pharmacy, busy bar, post office, artisan bakery and deli/minimarket opposite the property. A special mention for the well stocked and reasonably priced deli where English is spoken and the friendly owner went to a lot of trouble to arrange a delivery of pizzas for my birthday party. There's plenty of places to visit when the weather precludes lazing by the pool...zoo, grotto, caves at Matera and nearby towns such as Ostuni, Locorotondo and of course trulli-town Alberobello. Everyone had a great time.
Grazie David, è stato un gran piacere conoscere te e la tua famiglia. Quando vorrai tornare ci farà piacere ospitarti
ancora. Ti auguriamo giorni felici . Saluti Gianni, Mimmo e Carmela
