About Nancy Landrum
I have loved turning this barren half acre into a lovely, peaceful, colorful garden. The more ordinary lawn area is surrounded by a gravel walking path dividing it from the small fruit orchard and vegetable planting beds. I am also an author of seven books about various aspects of building and sustaining healthy relationships. I've practiced as a marriage coach for more than 25 years. Max and Toby, my Maltese pups, are enthusiastically friendly and give me a lot of sweet affection. I also enjoy my nine hens who provide me with fresh, organic eggs, which I'm happy to share. I also enjoy an interest in real estate, having bought, sold and currently own several rentals. Living on this Murrieta property was one of those happy accidents that has turned out to be perfect for me. I occasionally rent the backyard as a small event venue, although never conflicting with guest reservations in the Studio.
Nancy Landrum purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Nancy Landrum chose Murrieta
In 2008 I owned and managed nine "doors." The downturn in the real estate market meant I was scrambling to keep all of the properties solvent plus working full time. I was moving back and forth from my personal residence and my RV, alternating both as rentals. It was exhausting. All properties were "underwater," meaning I couldn't sell them. I was trying to hold on until property values returned to previous levels. It finally occurred to me that I could rent my personal residence in Anaheim for enough to almost cover expenses, and move to the Murrieta rental where the rent from the Studio apartment would pay half of the mortgage payment. The day I moved I knew this was more than a financial blessing, but a personal blessing, as well! I love it here!
What makes this Cottage unique
I fell in love with my home largely because of the large front and back porches PLUS a huge, flat backyard in which to practice my gardening passion. The front porch, and the window over my desk have a gorgeous view of the Santa Rosa Plateau. I love spending time in my special chair on the back porch enjoying the colors of my yard and the many birds that visit my feeders.
