Why Louise de Wet chose West Beach
Although I live nearby myself, it always makes me feel as if I am on holiday when I drive along the beachfront of Table View and Bloubergstrand on my way to Bliss Cottage. Why? There are kite-boarders or stand-up paddlers dotting the bay (depending on the wind), people sitting at beach-side cafe's and restaurants enjoying the view of the sea and Table Mountain, kids queueing for ice-cream, travelers bargaining for beautiful African wood carvings from local vendors, people jogging, roller-blading or cycling... the list goes on. Bliss Cottage is just one street up from all this sea-side fun, tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac. Open the front door and you will immediately feel the home-from-home vibe. Especially when you relax in the leafy privately enclosed courtyard while a delicious lamb chops sizzle on the built-in barbeque.
What makes this House unique
Close to the beach, but away from the traffic noise. Your own, free-standing holiday house with ample parking and beautiful flow from the house into the courtyard garden. Very well-appointed with everything you need for a fuss-free self-catering holiday. During 2017 the house has undergone an extensive renovation adding a chic, modern, luxury feel.

Bliss Cottage is the Perfect Name
I just had the pleasure of staying at the Bliss Cottage for 3+ weeks. It was perfectly situated, was spotless and well taken care of, and had everything I could have possibly wanted. It was truly an oasis for me and my usual stressful life. Collins, the friendly and delightful caretaker, visited weekly to spruce up the cottage and it was clear he took great pride in his work.
Then, there is Louise, who owns the cottage. There are not enough words allowed here to let me express how special she is. She is a unique and welcoming person who made me feel comfortable from my initial inquiry through my entire stay. She I feel truly fortunate to have met and spent some time with Louise, and I believe I have a friend for life. I will never forget her.
If you are visiting Cape Town, you could not ask for a more special and relaxing place to stay, nor for a more caring and attentive owner. I am already planning my next trip and cannot imagine staying anywhere else.
Thank you for your beautiful and heartfelt words and all the appreciation I can feel coming from you. I too feel as if I have made a friend for life. And no owner could wish for a better , more respectful guest than you. Go well and come visit again soon.
Kindest regards and blessings

Perfect cottage by the sea
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Cape Town, spending 5 nights at Bliss Cottage. The cottage was perfect. Unlike much accommodation in Cape Town, the cottage had its own private garden, with braai and washing line, and was lovely to eat any of our meals in. We are a family of four (2 adults, 2 children aged 12 and 10). The children comfortably shared the twin room. The cottage was bright, airy and tastefully decorated with some lovely artwork. We had all the facilities we needed in the kitchen, a lovely bathroom and garage with washing machine. The cottage is only a very short walk from Blauwberg beach which is renowned for having the best view of Table Mountain and fantastic sunsets. The beach is gorgeous and it's great fun to see all the kite surfers there. If we return to Cape Town I would definitely rent the cottage again. Louise, the owner, called in to check we were all OK and was so friendly and helpful in her emails, and always extremely quick to respond to any queries. Thanks again Louise!
Extra info: the cottage was really clean and well-maintained. There are several lovely restaurants at Blauwberg Beach and Big Bay (5 minutes drive and great to take children where they can run around on the grass, take their skateboards, bike and watch the surf boarders). We also spent a few nights in the Camps Bay area, but preferred Blauwberg is the area felt more open, natural and less cramped. Parts of the coast are a nature reserve and there are great sand dunes for the children to run up and down! Only 20-30 minute drive to central Cape Town.
Thank you so much for this super review with its comprehensive information that would be sure to help other prospective travelers. It makes us so happy when our guests are happy and you would be more than welcome again ANYTIME!
Bliss cottage is a great place to be. I have never been in such a complete guest adres. The house is more than complete: nicely decorated. the beds are comfortable, the bathroom is complete. The kitchen has everything you possible need including spices, tea, coffee, etc. etc. Name it and it is there. the service from Louise en Mairhead is great. The location is perfect. A 5 minutes walk to Bloubergbeach gives you a fantastic view on Capetown and the beautiful Table Mountain. The beach can be windy. It is large and quiet and impressive. The sunsets were gorgeous. Every night was another surprise what would be the colors of the setting sun. In short: we had two wonderful weeks. Bliss cottage and Blouberg: we enjoyed emmensely. We miss you. We hope to come back soon!!
We were so lucky to find this little gem in Bloubergstrand. A lovely, cosy cottage with everything you need and walking distance from the beach. Restaurant with delicious food across the road from beach (Doodles). Everything else you need within 1-2 km. Security good. It was a pleasure dealing with Louise and Mairhead and we apreciated the personal welcome on the day of our arrival. We preferred the beach close to the cottage to the main beach, quiet and a pleasure watching all the kite surfers.
The only let-down was the small garage. We had to park in the street next to the cottage, but if you drive a smaller vehicle, this will not be a problem.
All in all, highly recommended.
