The master bedroom has a queen bed and an en suite bathroom. The second bedroom is furnished as an office / library but with a comfortable sofa which converts to a wide bed if needed. In the living room the sofa with day bed invites you to put your feet up and relax. A Three dollar ticket allows you to travel all day, everywhere, and half that if you are over 60 or carry a Medicare card. ( Exact change is requested ). A published time table enables you to plan your journeys.

In addition to the pools those interested in tennis have three courts to choose from and the fishing fans have the key to the private pier into the Matanzas river and the relaxing gazebo.

St Augustine Shores Activities Club serves the residents but short term visitors may also temporarily join on an inexpensive basis to enjoy yoga, dancing, line dancing and bridge.

About Owner/Manager

Linda and I have spent the last twenty years in the South of France enjoying the great food, the wine and the weather. Before that we were living in the London region of England and she definitely refused to consider the return to the rainier climate of those days. Growing up in Ponte Vedra she wished to return to Florida and we are. We are no strangers to the area however since we have been coming 'home' to Linda's parents in Pontevedra and family in Jacksonville for over twenty five years.

I initially had some reservations but after living here in St. Augustine for over a year now I am convinced that this is the place for us. We had a French version of our 'condo' in our oak wood for several years and had some magnificent visitors from the States and Canada who gave us high marks for our hospitality. We hope to gain your approval also. And so, since we like meeting people we decided to do the same over here. The fantastic array of

things to do and see inSt. Augustine places it even above the great place which we had in France.

There, the season slowed down and stopped around October but here it is a busy place the year round with many cultural and non cultural amusements to suit all tastes.

I have even found some pretty decent wines for not a lot of money and the bottom line is that we do not miss France anymore and continue to discover new and exciting leisure activities every day.

If you come to see us we would reserve some time over coffee or a beverage of your choice to tell you where to go, what to see and what to do.....also what NOT to do!

Whether you are visiting from the States, or Canada or Latin America or indeed from the 'old' country or even further away we are sure that we shall have no language difficulties. We speak 8 languages well and some of the others less well. We do not expect any difficulties in communication.

Owner/Manager purchased this condo in 2016

Why Owner/Manager chose Saint Augustine

The condos at Conquistador in St Augustine are a well kept secret. Its beautifully manicured trees and lawns sit in the middle of centenarian oaks which overlook the Matanzas river and the ones which particularly interested us were those that had the wide vistas of the river which forms a part of the inland waterway, together with the marshes full of bird life looking for fish. We had fun furnishing the condo and maybe also planning to live there ourselves when downsizing time comes around. We are very centrally located between the old city ( Only 12 minutes away ) and the ocean, ( ten minutes away from Crescent beach ) from the old city center. For a vacation it is perfect.

What makes this condo unique

It is of course the view which seduces you. A vast panorama of changing light and shimmering water as the tides move to and fro and the river traffic passes by. We love to sit on the covered and screened verandah looking at the passing river traffic with a glass of our favorite beverage....and why not? we are on permanent vacation! We invite you also to share this little corner of heaven under the blue skies of St. Augustine.

The wild life is also a for ever changing scenario. The birds wait patiently in the shallows for any fish choosing to cross their path and then pounce. And yet.........a couple of miles inland you have all the shopping that you would ever wish for and the busy-busy of the 21st century. But, if that is not your favorite thing to do you can stay in your peaceful riverside home and plan your shopping for the kitchen..... BUT if you are NOT keen on cooking there are a great many restaurants from the sophisticated to the not so sophisticated only 15 minutes away and they all serve great food at very reasonable prices. The only caveat is to watch out for the overpriced wines. Our advice is to ask for the house wines which are good and reasonable.

We are a very aquatic community with the ocean on one side and the river and Inter-coastal on the other. Self piloted motor/fishing boats are available for hire, with engine approx 16ft long for $100 for a half day. Kayaks and canoes for less of course. Details on request. Helicopter rides over the city and the ocean also available at modest cost. The city has a large movie complex and also live theater, not forgetting a quirky cinema showing classic films while you eat your burger or salad in the darkness. Who said males couldn't do two things at the same time !? The Lightner museum, formerly the Alcazar hotel, built in 1888 houses many world class museum objects. The indoor swimming pool is now a delightful restaurant where you can rest your weary legs.

Great condo in a wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a month in this lovely condo. The unit was very comfortable for us and is laid out nicely. We loved the screened in balcony with ceiling fan and electric heater, if needed. It was wonderful to have our morning coffee there or relax in the evening, watching birds and boats go by. We often remarked about how peaceful and quiet the area was. It was a pleasure to have everything we needed to prepare a meal in the kitchen. The Queen size bed was comfortable and lines are high quality. It was very convenient having the large capacity washer and dryer, especially being there for a month.

Ivan was great, keeping in touch before and during our stay. He and Linda were extremely kind and helpful with their suggestions for the area. Linda recommended the St. Augustine Shores Activity club, which is in walking distance, for yoga or other activities. I got a temporary membership for about $25 and was able to go to yoga classes three days a week. We found the area had many wonderful trails for hiking or biking, there is so much to do.

The location of the condo was great for us. It was a short drive for groceries/shopping or the beach. We were close enough to go to the historic downtown area, and far enough away to stay away from the congestion.

Thanks Ivan and Linda for such a lovely little place for our escape from the snow and cold! We would definitely stay here again and recommend this rental!

First of all the owners Ivan and Linda seemed like "family".

They were very helpful and informative. The knew the area like the back of their hand and gave us great pointers on the sites to see along with great restaurants to visit.

The condo itself was beautiful, comfortable and very clean.. The views from the balcony were serene and peaceful.

You are just a short drive to the beaches and the old city. This is a PLUS!!! No crowds to deal with YES I would recommend staying here!!!!!!!

I recommend that this is the condo for you to stay while visiting St. Augustine.

The pools were very very clean!!!!!!

We had a wonderful time at this lovely and comfortable place on the marsh. The screened porch is a tranquil spot to watch the many birds and further out, the parade of boats on the intracoastal. Ivan and Linda are interesting and delightful hosts who we now regard as friends. If you can tear yourself away from the view, the condo is perfect for exploring, whether by car or by bicycle. It is close to Crescent Beach, St. Augustine, Flagler Beach and Linda found some wonderful bicycle trails for us. We were sad to leave and hope to return.

the perfect spot

  • 5 of 5

Just a short drive from all that St Augustine has to offer, Ivan and Linda’s condo in St Augustine Shores has a serene setting overlooking the marshes of the Matanzas river. We woke up listening to the birds with our coffee on the porch.

The condo is very clean, very comfortable. The condo complex is very quiet. Ivan and Linda were lovely and gracious hosts, available and quick to answer all our questions. Between the hosts and the location it is the perfect place to be close enough to easily visit any spot in the area - museums, shopping, beaches - and quiet and comfortable enough to truly relax.

We can’t wait to return.
