Nice private beach, good location, nice owner
Nice house on Lake Charlevoix, with a big sandy area for the kids to make sand castles, and one step down is the actual shoreline, which is pebbles and small/medium rocks instead of sand. But a pair of water shoes fixes that, and about 10 feet out it turns to sand. Really great dock with table and chairs to watch the sunrise or read a book, and a ladder to swim from. Water is very clean and clear. The house is nice, with two big porches to sit and enjoy the breeze. Inside, the living room, kitchen, dining room, and a full bath are on the upper level, with the bedrooms, laundry/entryway, and another bathroom on the lower level. (Not ideal if you have someone elderly who doesn't do well with stairs). The décor is nice, not exactly updated, but still homey with interesting antiques and things . We met the owner, Mr. Runey, who was very pleasant and helpful. (the listing company wasn't very quick to respond to questions). The only negatives- some of the pillows were kinda yucky and stained, but housekeeping said they would be replaced. The spices in the cabinet were several years old. Someone needs to go through and do a good cleaning of the kitchen cabinet doors , and sort through the many spices and food items that seemed to have accumulated over time. But overall this is a nice place on a beautiful, clean lake, located in the middle of everything. Charlevoix and Petosky are great for evening strolls and dinner, Boyne City has beautiful parks for the kids, we picked cherries at an orchard near Traverse city (made some amazing cherry jam!), went to Sleeping Bear dunes, spent a day at the beach at Mt McSauba, and soaked up the sun on the nice little beach at the house. You don't see any neighbors from the house, and even at the shore, the neighbors are quite a ways away. Lots of trees make you feel secluded as you watch the deer stroll by, and we even saw a fox on the beach one morning. This was one of our best vacations so far. Thank you Mr. Runey, for sharing your beautiful home with us! We hope to be back next year! Sincerely, the Trese/Kahler/Rowe family
Ps. The wooden address sign by the road is VERY hard to read when driving by, looking for the driveway, especially at night (a little white paint on the engraved letters would be very helpful). There's a white and green pole barn across the road that was our landmark when coming back at the end of each day .
Thank you so much for your review. We always appreciate hearing from our customers. Please think of us again.
A great place to enjoy Northern Michigan
We had use of the dock for our boat, and the water was crystal clear, with a hard sand bottom- great for swimming. It was quiet with a spectacular view from the upper porch. The inside was cozy and clean.
Charming, very secluded, beautiful property!
The outside of the property provided many wonderful options for enjoyment. A private dock with table and chairs, 2 decks with seating and barbecuing, picnic table and a secluded beach with chairs. Comfortable interior. Close to cute towns and great golf. Wished for more timely responses to questions like WIFI password and TV instructions. But, we figured it out.
Located near East Jordan, Charlevoix and Boyne City this home is only minutes from festivals and activities while still feeling very rural and private.
