About Heather Bowman-Taylor

My husband & I retired here from London in the summer of 2010. We chose a marvellous property with beauty, charm & history to share with visitors. Sadly I lost my husband in 2014 but continue to run the gite & chambres d'hote and to welcome guests to this very special, unspoilt area.

Heather Bowman-Taylor purchased this farmhouse in 2010

Why Heather Bowman-Taylor chose France

I have often been told by visitors that this is the best gite in this area that they have stayed in. My husband & I wanted it to be a real home-from-home and not just an impersonal holiday let. As a result we have made it comfortable, beautiful and unique. The lounge offers a cool retreat for hot summer days, with French & English TV, DVD & even a video player with huge choice of videos! Also provided are books & games, as well as tourist literature. The kitchen is very large & extremely well-equipped for cooking at home, while the private gite terrace offers a large gas barbecue for al fresco cooking.

Each bedroom is spacious, with a sleeping and a sitting area and its own ensuite with shower, sink & WC. All bed linen & towels are provided for you.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Enormous attention to detail has gone into preparing this gite for its guests, ranging from the full range of kitchen equipment to its art work. We have thought of everything you could possibly need, such as LED lights on bedside tables so as not to disturb your partner if you wake in the night, the provision of a very generous welcome pack in case shops are closed when you arrive, candles & matches for romantic dining, etc.

One of the most unique benefits is that, despite its very high standard, the rental fee remains affordable, to allow as many people as possible to come and enjoy all it has to offer. Guests have said it is tremendous value for money!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful well equipped, comfortable, self contained gite. It has a beautiful setting in the countryside with wonderful views. Would not hesitate in recommending the gite to anyone thinking of a holiday in this area.

The owners Heather and Trevor are so hospitable and very helpful. They are there to help in anyway if you need them but respect your privacy.

Owner's Response: Dear Sue, Nigel and Audrey, Thank you so much for this great review! We loved having you stay in our gite and particularly enjoyed watching our cats get some exercise whenever your dog Rufus chased them! And seeing your model aeroplane up in the thermals must have surprised the kites and buzzards! We do hope to see you all again sometime soon.

a great experience of France

  • 5 of 5

The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The self-contained accommodation has a wonderful ambience, provides all that you need including being spacious, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen andin a quiet area.

Spacious garden to enjoy relaxing outside in the sunshine. It was very mild in October.

The location is very quiet in the middle of lovely countryside. Larger villages not far away for shopping, markets and exploring.. Good local restaurant nearby. Need your own car for exploring. Would recommend to anyone.

The best option by far

  • 5 of 5

When we were booking our holidays, we searched for a quiet and peaceful place, a beautiful location, not far from interesting places to visit and with motivating gastronomy. And the Gite du Paradis more than meets all these expectations. We spent two weeks there, and we would have stayed forever.

The house is very well equipped and the garden is stunning and huge. There is a very special place on it to sit and read, and watch quietly how the daylight dims and the first stars show in the sky. About the sky, it is so clean and clear, that every night you could spend hours just by gazing the Milky Way.

The close surroundings are beautiful. Vieuzos is located on top of a hill, with lots of nearby farms and nice woods to walk around. There is so much natural life around that the chances of spotting wild animals, such as deers or birds of prey, are very high.

From Vieuzos there are many places to visit within a radius of 1h by car. A “must-see” is the beach at the Lac de la Gimone, especially when the sun is setting. The light coming from the sun is so beautiful and the place so special that makes you feel as if time had stopped. And there are also many beautiful cities with a lot history behind and good restaurants. Pau, Toulouse, Condom, and many other small villages, are obliged visits.

Finally, Heather is a lovely person that cares for detail. She lives on the house next to the Gite, but she is very discreet, although she is always there if you need her. We will miss her!

There is no doubt we will go back in the future.
