It did what it said on the tin!
I stayed in Villa Autumn June 21-July 01 2017 with my partner and 2 friends, having previously done a lot of research to find a place that was peaceful, close to the sea, near local amenities, comfortable and well maintained. Kefalonia is beautiful, the locality of Svoronata makes all of the island accessible and The Seasons villas are set in gorgeous grounds with stunning views. I won't go into details of the property as it's very accurately described on the website and by the other reviewers. The bedrooms are spacious, air-conditioned, comfy beds and each has its own balcony. The living area is very comfortable, air-conditioned of course and also has a balcony, big enough for dining, with table and chairs overlooking the perfect gardens, pool and out to sea. The whole thing is looked after by the owner, the lovely Zoe Gnesoulis in whose capable hands we felt secure and nurtured!
Now for some facts about shopping, eating and drinking. There's a small mini-market (takes credit cards) 6 minutes walk, right next door to a great bar called Legends which has an excellent cocktail menu! On the way you'll already have passed Fois restaurant serving excellent traditional Greek cuisine. There's a bigger supermarket called Sagittarius (you can pay by card here also) 1.3km, 20 minutes walk up the road to Svoronata village and nearby you'll find another bar, Acropolis restaurant and Greekstones, the car-hire people.
When you're not in the pool at the villa the gently sloping sandy beach is 2 minutes stroll down the steps. The water is clear and being quite shallow for some distance it's ideal for kids or nervous grown-ups. Some 200m away, perched above the beach, there's Watermill, a wonderful oasis of shady calm serving cool beer, delicious salads and the best iced coffee.
Although we prefer to walk places we did rent a car for 3 days and among other things went hiking in the mountains in the national park and visited Sami. There is a remarkably good bus service (if you have a timetable and know where the bus stops!), we took it to Argostoli Port (2 euros), where we saw turtles!! and got the ferry to visit Lixouri. On the question of car-hire as adults we decided it had been a good idea not to pre-book but to rent on an ad hoc basis, although we would recommend that anyone taking small children should consider renting an air-conditioned car for the duration as the temperature gets into the thirties in July.
Thank you so much for your review. It makes me so happy to read how much you enjoyed your stay and Kefalonia! I hope to be seeing all of you again in the near future. Warmest regards,
Lovely accommodation in a stunning setting
We had the pleasure of staying in the Autumn villa at The Seasons for 9 nights at the end of May/beginning of June 2017. The accommodation is perfect; spacious, impeccably clean, stunning views of the beautifully maintained garden, the Ionian sea and the northern tip of Zante. Zoe was there if needed, otherwise she leaves you to get on with your relaxing holiday. Last but by no means least, Nikki the dog is adorable! If you are a dog lover and are very lucky, Nikki may knock your door and pop in to say hello. If you aren't keen on a four legged visitor she won't disturb you. We however jumped for joy when Nikki came to see us.
The villas are located within 75 steps of sweet Ai Helis beach and a 30 minute walk/10 minute drive to Avithos beach, an equally sweet spot with a nice restaurant on the front. Svoronata is ideally placed for exploring other parts of the island (highlights included Assos, Fiskardo, Argostoli, Skala and Sami) and is a 10 minute drive from the port that takes you to Zante (nice day trip but we recommend avoiding the larger resorts). In particular, we appreciated how peaceful and quiet Svoronata is; for the most part, you're treated to sweet birdsong and the soothing sound of lapping waves.
In functional terms, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen has all of the necessary equipment and utensils, the showers are good, there's adequate wardrobe space, the pool is lovely etc. etc. The property is close to the airport and, unlike another review, you do notice the planes BUT they aren't a problem. A testament to this fact is that we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and we've recommended the villas to family. We counted roughly 4-6 incoming flights per day (the airport is tiny), the first around 9am, with a flurry (by Cephalonian standards; things are very laid back on the island) between 11am and 4pm, with a straggler around 9pm. In addition, we saw 1 outbound flight take off via this way.
To sum up, we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay in the Autumn Villa and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Zoe and Nikki!
Thank you so much for your review! It really makes me so happy that you both enjoyed your stay. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you and our chats. Nikki though is still searching for you and her treats. I do hope to be seeing you in the near future. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Zoe & Niiki :
Great week, gorgeous house
I, my wife and our little one years old baby along with another couple with another baby, spent a wonderful week in the "Summer" season villa.
The house was spacious, clean and equipped with everything you need both for us and for the babies. The rooms are spacious and each with its own patio.
What we really liked was having breakfast on the patio with the stunning sea view.
The pool is very quiet, it is a place where you can relax and know the other guests of the seasons and where the children could play safely.
Finally, the beach (located literally 80 steps below the villas) is fully equipped and very comfortable, and of course with a beautiful sea!
Zoe was very friendly, welcomed us and made us feel immediately at home. She made us find everything we needed for us and for our children (cots and high chairs) and She always has a smile on her face!
We would definitely come back as soon as we can!
Hidden Gem - woud go back tomorrow
Zoe made us welcome and was attentive, and so was her little dog who turned up most days to try and beg a bit of lunch, but was very cute with it!
Great apartment, clean, spacious enough for our group two adults a young adult and a 14 year old. Well stocked and equipped for a stay, three patios which we loved! Could do with a safe especially given we all need to take plenty of Euros.
Great pool, just a few yards from the apartment/villa shared with two other villas only 4 other residents so very quiet and had the pool to ourselves most of the time we used it. All of this then just a few yards to a lovely sandy beach which was very quiet and had Turtle nests on it, which our two younger travellers loved. The beach bar does a great greek salad and margarita. Local Tavernas are good and friendly, our fav the nearest to the villa as we were a cross-section of veggie and meat eaters. Best greek chips at the taverna with the amazing view of the coast over Svoronata, at the foot of the castle Agios Georgios.
Kefalonia is my favourite greek island so far, just lovely. I live in far South West of the UK, Kef beaches are like Cornish beaches but with Med weather and less pasties!!
Argostoli came through for us by the fishing port and we had 15+ sightings in one hour of turtles just by the dock eating the seaweed. Recommend the local sea kayaking company as the most amazing way to see the coast, and rent a car and go across the island to Sami and the cave, beautiful forests and mountain. The coast from Sami to Agia Effimia is just beautiful with views to Ithica..
Great placed base as only minutes from the airport, the noise is no issue as not many flights due to the turtles on the island. Well places to explore the island or just stay put and enjoy the view, pool and beach.
Thank you so much for this review! Such kind words. I am so happy you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to your return. Enjoy the rest of your summer and hope to see you in future.
All the best,
Serene tranquility and beauty in all Seasons
The Seasons Villas in Ai Helis (Kefalonia) are an oasis of calm. We stayed in the "Autumn" and enjoyed every single minute in the beautiful surroundings (a paradise). The villas are well equipped, charming in their own way, spacy and comfortable, with a lovely view and breeze day and night. The pool area looks great and is well tended too, while the lovely secluded beach of Ai Helis is just a few steps underneath. We just kept going up and down!
The area is ever so nice and just far enough from town to be accessible yet secluded enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. Zoe, the smiling, sweet owner, and her friendly assistants are kind, always there to assist you, and manage to create a very relaxed atmosphere, adding to the feeling "like home". The Seasons Villas are highly recommended ~ Just a wonderful spot to be and we can't wait for next summer to come.
Zoe keep up the good work in the garden and make a hammock for me. I wished I could stay there all year!
Kefalonia was beautiful and the 4 Seasons had everything we needed to make our two weeks baking hot beach holiday pretty close to perfect.
We stayed in the Summer Apartment which looked out over the sea and the beach which is only a short walk. At the side of the 4 seaons swimming pool there is a gate which joins a pathway where folks park up and head down a few steps down to the beach. Beach was excellent, extremely clean and the folks a the small taverna cafe very friendly.
Summer Apartment was clean and the rooms a good size. Without the air conditioning throughout our experience may have been very difference. The apartment was finished to a high standard and has some character despite feeling quite recently built. A decent Wifi connection made up for some poor Greek TV.
Very quiet at the 4 Seasons and although the other apartments had guests most of the time we had the pool to ourselves.
Zoe was a perfect host and the couple who visted every couple of days to clean and change the linen were very friendly. Finally we could not let Nikki Zoe's minuture Pincer go without a mention.
We chose Kafalonia to have a relaxed beach holiday after a couple of years chasng our tails round Italy seeing the sites with the kids. We got exactly what we hoped and our 7 and 10 year old had great fun at the beach and in the pool.
Argestoli the main town is 15mins away and has enough going on in terms of shopping, food and entertainment to make it worth a visit most days.
5 mins up tne road from 4 Seasons you will find the local store Saggitarous which seemed to be open after 10pm each day and which we can recommend.
We can recommend 4 Seasons and Kafalonia to anyone looking for relaxed beach holiday.
Thank you for your kind words. It means so much to me to know that you enjoyed your visit to Kefalonia. I hope you will come and stay with us again. By the way Nikki kept going to the front door looking for the kids...and I am sure treats.
Kefalonia, a lush and rocky island located in the Ionian Sea in the western part of Greece, is the largest of 7 Ionian Islands which can be reached via airplane or ferry. While offering its unique beauty to the world, Kefalonia also features many of the most fascinating beaches in all of Europe.
The Seasons Villas are located cliffside in the Southwest village of Svoronata, approximately 4 miles south of Argostoli, and 2 miles south of Lassi. The town of Svoronata is situated about a mile inland and expands out to the sea with three surrounding beaches: Ammes, Avithos and Ai Helis.
Each Seasons Villa accommodates four adults and two children comfortably. Individual villa features include a large living room with private terrace facing endless Ionian sea views, dining area adjacent to living room leading to a modern open-plan kitchen and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and private terraces overlooking the Ionian sea.
The Seasons are located feet away from Ai Helis Beach. Ai Helis is a lovely sandy beach that enjoys breath taking views across to the island of Zante. The area is known for its luxurious villas with spacious gardens that hug the coastal cliff which is somewhat reminiscent of Southern France.
