Inspiring views from a well-designed house in a terrific location
The pictures of views from the deck speak for themselves and other reviewers have covered how great this spot is. I thought I might just cover some other nice-to-know details. The house location is very convenient — just across the Orange bridge from Nelson townsite (5 minutes to Baker St restaurants by vehicle). There is a school field next door that is not used in the summer, and is great for football or frisbee! The driveway comfortably fits 2 large vehicles (it’s sloped to provide enough room & likely could fit 3 vehicles). The road isn’t busy, so no problems backing out. For clarification on the room layout, upstairs, there is a comfortable master (king) with ensuite bathroom, a room with 2 twin-sized beds, a room with 1 twin bed and a large upstairs bathroom. Downstairs, there is what could be labelled another master bedroom (king) and a room with 2 twin beds. There is a third bathroom downstairs. It is smaller than the 2 upstairs, but does have a shower. The lay-out is smartly done with many spaces to congregate in groups. There is a portable air conditioner upstairs which kept the upper floor very livable during the heat wave we experienced during our week (>40C). There is plenty to keep you occupied inside and outside the house (including a pool table). One morning from the deck we watched a National Geographic worthy aerial battle between an osprey and a giant female bald eagle right in front of the deck! One of the most memorable wildlife moments I’ve ever experienced on one of the most memorable holidays. Thank you again to the owners for sharing this lovely spot with us!
Our stay in Nelson was amazing. The house was beautiful and the yard a dream for our two pups. Kilperick was kind enough to allow us to have two dogs when we initially were only going to bring 1, thank you again. The house was exceptional, very clean, extremely well stocked, it had everything we needed plus more, and good location. Although not right on the beach we walked the dogs down the path to the beach every morning and night for a swim. We spent the majority of our time hiking so not being right on the water was not a problem for us. We spent quite a bit of time relaxing outdoors on the lower terrace when we were home, the views were stunning. The garden was another bonus, we picked raspberries for breakfast every morning. Kilperick was a great host and very quick to respond to any questions. The neighbor also helps look after the place and she was extremely helpful with anything that we needed. We had extremely hot weather and only one out of the 4 people there thought that air conditioning was needed. We found that if we had windows open at night and early morning and then closed everything during the heat of the day the house stayed quite comfortable.I would highly recommend this house if visiting Nelson and would stay here again.
We had a great time in Nelson and at this property!
Beautiful View - Great House- wonderful hospitality!
Our family of 5 women really appreciated the many bedrooms and baths. There's lots of room for a large family. Lovely porches for dinning and enjoying the outdoors. Spacious
living spaces for enjoying all kinds of activities. Very nice decor and well stocked with basic needs. Walking access to the beach is challenging for older people, but a very short drive to wonderful park and beach. Owner is incredibly accessible to answer all your questions. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Wonderful place to stay
We stayed 5 nights at this beautifully decorated home while in town for a family reunion. It was very spacious, quiet, very clean, and has a fantastic view. Lots of kitchen tools & supplies, and we liked that there were really nice dishes to use, not just a collection of leftovers. The home felt luxurious, with soft rugs, plush furniture, comfortable beds, and separate sitting areas outside for relaxing or quiet time. The shower in the basement is really small but the two upstairs are no problem for bigger/taller people. We will definitely try to stay here again.
Amazing place to spend a vacation. Great views and everything we needed was already there.
We spent eleven days at this property for a large family vacation. The layout and support of the property was outstanding and provided just a great place for the family to visit. Some of the really surprising and welcoming things about the property were the garden that had fresh cucumbers and lettuce we were free to pick (yum!) and the treehouse with a small climbing all that the kids loved.
Everyone was very impressed and I would recommend this place to anyone.
