Perfect quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

Sharing this review emailed from a guest who recently stayed with us: Our time at Shoshone Wilderness Cabin couldn't have been better. We needed the quiet relaxation the cabin afforded. Quiet nights outside under the stars along with reading books by the creek were just what the doctor ordered. Our souls are refreshed and we'll cherish every quiet moment there. We hope to return again one day. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us! The Ballards from Ohio

If seclusion is what your looking for, this is the spot

  • 3 of 5

Entering the property was tricky as the gravel road from the main road stops and you have to navigate the very bumpy dirt road with large ruts. Thankfully, we had a large SUV but anything smaller, I would be hesitant to travel the road. The cabin itself is no frills. If you want to fish, the river is right next to the house with the lake just a few minutes up the road. The lack of phone service and wifi would've been fine, however the advertised TV with DVD/VCR and video library was not functioning so entertaining the kids in the evening presented a challenge. The door to enter the house from the porch was broken but due to be repaired. One of the railings in the loft was loose so the kids were not allowed to go up there which eliminated three of the bed spaces. With only 5 in our party, the three bedrooms on the main level worked for us. The access to Grand Teton was a plus. The property manager was on-site to try to repair the TV. This place could be a gem with some upgrades and putting gravel on the drive in.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. The location is like no other and a great spot as a base camp to tour Jackson, Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park and the Wind River Valley. The gravel on the drive in was finally delivered a few days after your departure (had been on order all summer but was delayed due to the need for materials on major highway construction). Glad the manager tried to help with the DVD player - until your arrival there'd been no comment on the system and we were unaware of the repair need. A new system has been ordered for the summer 2018 season. I'm glad your group had plenty of room without use of the loft but we've alerted our maintenance staff to secure the railing. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We think the cabin's location is a true gem and our hope is that the cabin updates will make it a true gem, too. Return guests receive a discount and we hope to see you again. Happy Trails!

Nice Cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It is a little rustic, but 100 times better than a tent. It is very spacious. We had 5 adults and 5 children and we didn't feel crowded at all. Driving down the road to get there, was a little tricky, because of potholes. We were told they were going to put more rock on the road. Our second vehicle was a truck and it was just fine.

The beds were comfortable and the kitchen worked out great. We saw deer by our cabin almost every day. Because of this cabin's location from the Teton's, we drove 45 minutes each way, every day. The positive side of this was that we saw bears, elk, antelope, and deer each night on our return trip to the cabin. We really enjoyed this.

Owner's Response: Denice, Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. The rustic cabins in this area are a great spot for wildlife viewing, fishing and enjoying the stars and quiet nights. The trips to and from the park offer animal sightings and great views as you saw - I have yet to see a bear this summer so I'm jealous! The road base was delivered the week after your stay (had been on order for 2 months but the contractor was busy supplying highway materials). Hopefully it was a fun adventure for you:) We hope you'll plan another trip - returning guests receive a discount. Happy Trails, Wind River Property Group, LLC, Dubois, WY
