My family history of living on Lake Minnetonka dates back to the 1940's when my dad lived on Crystal Bay. As a child, my summers were spent riding in my grandfather's wooden Larson boat and sitting on the end of the dock dreaming of the day I would own a home on Lake Minnetonka. After 7 years as a renter on Cook's Bay, I purchased a double bungalow on Halsted Bay in the hopes of sharing my love of Lake Minnetonka with others. I've spent leisure time in every bay on Lake Minnetonka and enjoy all the lake has to offer; fishing, jet skiing, boating, water skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, numerous restaurants, year-round town festivals, fireworks displays, Big Island festivities and public beaches. Mound, Wayzata and Excelsior all have public docks to park your boat and enjoy local shopping and eateries. I hope vacationers who stay at my bungalow enjoy the area as much as I do!

Why Erin chose Mound
Enjoy beautiful sunsets in the evening; fishing from the dock or watching turtles and numerous birds species that live in the quaint cove along our shoreline. My double bungalow is located on Halsted Bay which is the western-most bay on Lake Minnetonka. This tranquil 544 acre bay has the largest area of shoreline protected from development by Hennepin County Regional Park. Want to spend a peaceful day on the lake? Halsted Bay is one of the quietest on 14,500 acre Lake Minnetonka. Feel like people watching or spending time with other lake lovers; cruise over via boat to Goose Island (family-friendly), Maxwell Bay (family-friendly) and Big Island (mixture of family-friendly and party-central). Cruise via boat one bay over to Cook's Bay and enjoy a fabulous meal at Al and Alma's Supper Club. This home is convenient via car to a popular swimming beach (3/4 mile), Surfside Bar and Grill (1 mile), Carbone's Pizza (1.25 miles), and Dakota Rail Bike Trail (1.25 miles).

The home worked very well for our family, in Minnesota visiting son working there.
My one question about technology was promptly answered. We prepared most meals there and the kitchen worked fine. Everyone was comfortable. We had everything we needed.
Beautiful, comfortable home! Hosts were wonderful!
Perfect, clean & beautiful place! Just wish it had better lake access and/or trails to walk along the shore. The highway in front was very busy to cross, and once across there is only the dock to hang out on. Not really a swimming area or walking path. The view from the house is gorgeous though! And the backyard with fire pit is great! Loved the house-they thought of everything for our comfort.
Blast on the lakefront
House was very clean, modern with a great kitchen, dining room and family room. Had our adult sons join us for the trip. All enjoyed a ton of jet-ski action and some fishing. If we'd had more time, would have rented a fishing boat, but still had plenty of fun right off the dock (located right across the street) with catch-and-release action with bass, pikes and crappies. Bay Side Rental, very short distance away, was a great place to get jet skis. Back yard with fire pit was an added bonus to hang out at night.
Excellent property in a great location
Property was as described and had everything needed. Would defiantly recommend this property and will defiantly stay again.
Perfect, quiet, clean, nicely decorated. Had everything we needed.
We had a great experience. Clean, well kept. The deck and firepit in the backyard was our favorite spot in the evening. The owners were so accommodating. We had children ages 4, 6 and 10. They loved the beach nearby. The beds were so comfortable! Highly recommend!
We stayed in the bungalow as we were visiting family nearby and needed extra beds. This house met our needs very well. It was comfortable and neatly maintained. The house is across the street from the lake and there is a fair amount of traffic. The backyard has a lovely fire pit. We enjoyed the amazing Big Stone Mini-golf nearby that is truly a one-of-kind experience. It is also near Gale Woods Farm, a county park that demonstrates sustainable farming (with trails and canoe rentals) and there are lots of bike trails in the area (but not bike rentals). We had a lovely time.
The double bungalow is steps from our 60-feet of private lakeshore and dock on Halsted Bay; on historic Lake Minnetonka. Trailer and launch your own boat at one of several nearby public accesses or rent one from one of the numerous lakeside marinas and private rental outfits (fishing boats/pontoons, jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks, etc.). Lake Minnetonka is the 10th largest lake in Minnesota consisting of approximately 125 miles of shoreline and 14,500 acres of water (approximately 22 square miles) to explore. This is a one-of-a-kind experience for boating, fishing and nature enthusiasts as the lake is a collection of more than 30 bays, interconnected by over 31 navigable channels and 16 bridges and many islands, marinas and bar/restaurants - all reachable by boat. According to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Water Patrol, there can be as many as 10,000 boats on Lake Minnetonka on a busy July weekend! The lake area includes more than 13 municipalities in two counties. Its greatest length is 10.9 miles, from Grays Bay to Halsted Bay; its greatest width is 5.8 miles at the north end of the Lower Lake and its greatest depth is 113-feet in Crystal Bay, with an average water depth of 25-feet.
In addition to everything the lake has to offer, there are numerous local attractions to keep you busy and entertained: less than 10 miles from Hazeltine National Golf Course, 9 miles from Prince's Paisley Park, and 7 miles from the MN Landscape Arboretum. Surfside Beach is 3/4 mile away with a large swimming area, boat launch, playground and FREE family-friendly bands Thursday evenings June-Aug. Eat-in or enjoy one of the areas restaurants. Have pizza delivered from Carbone's, Davinci's or Dominos. Enjoy live bands Tuesday-Sunday at Narrows Bar -and $5 burger baskets Sunday afternoon!
