Very nice stay
We had a very nice stay at this house. It is super clean and well furnished. We enjoyed the amazing view of the mountains and watching rhe birds from the dinning room every morning. It is pretty close to town. The owner was very responsive and flexible. We will stay again!
More than we hoped for
We arrived late and tired and was surprised by the warm homely welcome of the lights on for us. The home is absolutely beautiful, organized and clean. The view is lovely. We enjoyed watching all the birds and the squirrel that came every morning to eat from the bird feeder. The drive way was not as bad as I was expecting. Just go for it when you start up, lol.My daughter in love thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub. We would love to come back in the cooler months. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Great place to enjoy the mountains
Four of us enjoyed being at this home, particularly like the screen porch for sitting around and for meals.
Ideal high elevation getaway
This was NOT a vacation home where the owner tried to skimp on guests’ needs to optimize profits. There was hardly a skillet, a colander, a whisk or anything else missing when I went to prepare meals. I often bring a favorite bowl, pan or knife because I expect to be disappointed, but I don’t recall that happening here. The house might not have had a large cutting board or a double griddle for pancakes, but we just used two smaller griddles. On top of that, if you ran out of sugar, oil, spices, coffee or most other staples there were backups in the pantry. That was a nice touch.
As others have said, the hot tub was a joy, particularly situated right off the porch in front of a flowering bush populated with butterflies, and next to the birdfeeder where the cardinals, goldfinches and other birds feasted each day. Chemicals for the hot tub are measured out for you and abundant towels were available. Occasionally, deer meandered onto the property. Watching all these, and the clouds moving across the mountains for a week would have been entertainment enough for me as I was unwinding. We found the unheated screen porch to be perfect for dining and for reading in July. The ceiling fan made it very pleasant all day long, and it got just a tad cool in the middle of the night—when probably nobody but me would be up reading!
However, there WERE other things to do. Asheville took me about 75 minutes to drive to. Some of the best hiking in the region was just 10 miles straight up the main road the TN/NC border. We found the Mexican restaurant in Bakersville to be quite good. Also, the Caribbean restaurant in Spruce Pine, while lacking ambiance, had fabulous food. And tubing with Loafers Glory was easy to arrange, a quick drive, and reasonably priced.
I try to vacation at a different place every year. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to return here for the beauty, tranquility and abundant resources that the house itself offered. Thanks so much to Kori; I never encountered anybody associated with the rental face-to-face because I never had a problem.
The house was clean and well stocked! Close to Roan Mountain for hiking. Had a wonderful time. Would stay again!
Wonderful retreat nestled in the side of a mountain with views.
Our family spent Thanksgiving weekend in this beautifully furnished mountain retreat. All 7 of us, plus an infant, had plenty of space. The loft held a family of 4 plus an infant with ease, with their own full bath. There was a cabinet full of games for all ages. The kitchen was well stocked and refrigerator big enough to hold our turkey and fixings. There also was a high chair. Although it was too chilly to sit in the screened in room, it was cozy and inviting. My family used the hot tub which is perched outside the screened in room with beautiful mountain views. There was a view from just about every window. We enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning watching the birds feed at the bird feeder. Although the driveway appeared intimidating, we went up with ease and unloading our cars was easy. We would certainly rent this beautiful home again.
