About Emile Lugosch
This property is owned by Ronna and Emile Lugosch. Ronna is a full-time jewelry designer and owner of Peapod Jewelry located on Rte. 1 in Edgecomb, Maine. She is from the Chicago area and graduated from Evanston High School. She went on to study art at UW in Madison and Temple University. Emile is from Doylestown, PA and graduated from Solebury School and went on to study at Temple University. They actually met at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in 1980 where they were both employed. They have lived here since 1983 and raised their 2 sons in this house.
Why Emile Lugosch chose Round Pond
Ronna and Emile bought this house in 1983, 6 months after they moved here from the Philadelphia area. In 1991 they built an addition onto the back of the house for Ronna's jewelry workshop. In 2011 she moved her studio to her Edgecomb location and the workshop space stood empty. With the suggestion of a real estate agent and friend they decided to transform it into an apartment. Emile is a a Renaissance Man and did the majority of the work himself.
What makes this Apartment unique
We loved this space because it has a lovely brook running alongside as well as the close access to Muscongus and Round Pond Harbors. It is such a nice private property surrounded with woods with no chance of anyone building any closer than the adjacent homes that cannot even be seen. In the summer evenings it's so quiet that you can hear the loons calling. So lovely.

Our family of 4 stayed here and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. The place is spotless, with many extras such as beach chairs and towels, lots of local information and very nice hosts. The apartment is very bright and cheerful, with many windows and comfortable beds. I would highly recommend staying here if you are interested in exploring the Waldoboro/Bristol/Round Pond area.
Our family spent a wonderful week at this lovely apartment in beautiful Maine. Everything was clean and cozy. Our hosts Ronna and Emile helped out answering questions and guiding us to great local spots. Our favorites were La Verna Preserve for a classic coastline hike and Granite Hall Store for ice cream for the kids. The 4th of July parade in Round Pond was a delight. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
Complete Home Base
We rented this guest house after seeing how clean and modern the space looked online. It didn't disappoint. What wasn't advertised were the extra little touches that the owner added to make our stay feel just like home: amazingly fresh-smelling laundry, a plethora of cooking spices and condiments (butter, too!), quality pots and pans, so many power outlets in every room, a very powerful gas range!
We regularly experimented with cooking meals using the local bounty: live steamer clams and soft shell lobsters from Round Pond co-op, live crabs from 2 Ladies, fresh produce from Julia's farmstand, freshly baked goodies from Dot's - all conveniently down the street - Rising Tide coop for organic products, freshly harvested oysters from the farmers at Glidden Point (our vrbo hosts have this great homemade shucker that made opening them a cinch), meats for the barbecue from the butcher in Damariscotta. We also had the most fluffy and moist pancakes at Chrissies, highly recommended.
Notable places visited on this trip: Pemaquid Lighthouse, Pemaquid Park, Rachel Carson Salt Pond, Glidden Point Oyster farm, the Shops in Freeport, all the small coastal towns that we drove through in our travels....
The owners built the house with love and care. We've stayed in enough vrbo homes to recognize that the owners here really have the mindset to fully accommodate their guests. Thank you so much, Emile and Ronna! A great weekend, indeed.
Wow Judy, we are completely flattered with your review! Thank you so much. We truly enjoyed you both as guests and enjoyed your enthusiasm about the local seafoods, especially the incredible oysters raised right here in the Damariscotta River. By the way, the oyster shucker is actually something you can by online. It's called 'Aw Shucks' and was created by Larry Schneider a Damariscotta restaurant owner.
We hope your trip home went smoothly and we hope you'll visit again!

Fine place for people and dogs
Lovely, very clean, comfortable, everything we needed (except a rubber spatula). The Lugosch's are terrific hosts though I fear our dog companions may have terrorized Ella a bit. Very good location for nearness to hiking, shopping, eating. Excellent written and oral suggestions on things to do, where to eat, etc. Not located on a good walking road to town but easy drive.
So glad you had a good stay and not to worry, your dogs were wonderful. And most of all, thanks for the heads up on the spatula. We will definitely make sure the apartment has one. Please visit again!
Great rental space and location!
A wonderful stay close to the Round Pond shops and restaurants, including the Muscongus Bay lobster pounds and not too far from the Preserve and the Hardy Boat Tours! Also close enough to the beach and all other places on this beautiful mid-coast peninsula. The rental was one of our favorite to date. Well equipped with quality and comfortable items and even included a high chair! Things to note tho...There is no TV and no radio/Bluetooth speaker. No / limited cell service and varying strength of WiFi depending on your location in the unit/ or in our case Apple vs Samsung phone. Unit is attached to owner house but felt very private! The grill was a great perk and the owners are wonderful! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return again!
Thank you so much Heidi. We really enjoyed you both and hope you return!
Awesome Place & People
I spent 4 wonderful nights with my friends in the apartment. It was very clean and comfortable. Emile and Ronna were very nice and friendly. The location is very convenient and quiet. Ronna showed us a great swimming place and we had a great time there. If I go to the same area in Maine in the future, I would definitely stay here again.
Thanks so much ladies. We enjoyed you too! Please visit again.

We are located in what is called Midcoast Maine on the picturesque Pemaquid Peninsula. From New Harbor at the bottom of the Peninsula you can catch the Hardy Boat to Mohegan Island a destination that will bring you back in time. Our peninsula is a quiet area but only about a 40 minute ride to the the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor. Don't miss the spectacular Botanical Gardens there as well as the waterfront shops and restaurants. If you travel up the coast you won't want to miss the Town of Rockland which used to be the location for fish canning and is now the cultural arts center of the Midcoast with two art museums and many galleries.
