About Fabio Monaco/Nadia Monaco
Hello, my name is Nadia. I graduated in Foreign Langueges and Literatures in 2011 and I'm a teaching assistant since 2013. Although cultivating an unbridled passion for travel, I have always been living in Santa Venerina. My brother Fabio has lived and worked in Stockholm for a few years as a sound engineer before moving back to Sicily in 2014. My parents Angelo and Maria Teresa, a builder and a landscape architect, respectively, teamed up to realise our little paradise that we all love to share, since we have the great opportunity to meet different people from all over the world.
Why Fabio Monaco/Nadia Monaco chose Santa Venerina
My father bought the property in 1986. He was enchanted by the beauty of that vast plot of land cultivated with vineyards and citrus groves that offered an unrivaled view and that, despite being in the countryside, was so well connected to neighboring towns. On the property was a lovely winery that, once renovated, became our home for a few years. Among my most cherished childhood memories are the summer times spent with my brother exploring, riding a bike, climbing the fruit trees and gorging ourselves with cherries, apricots and whatever else we could find when we got hungry... and then the harvest in autumn days, which became the occasion of parties and meetings with family and friends. In 2001 began the construction of the present structure, which was completed in 2010. We share our property with genuine passion, aware and proud of the uniqueness of this place. Papà Angelo loves to collect fresh fruit for our guests and to lead them along the citrus scented paths, so that they can pick the fruit by themselves. Mamma Maria Teresa deals all matters relating to the care of garden and villas. We are available during your stay for any information you might require about the property and the surrounding area. Everything is family run whereby it is sometimes very difficult, but in the end there is no greater satisfaction than to see guests come back year after year, or just say some nice words about their stay at our place.

A delightful villa with wonderful hosts in a picturesque location
We stayed here (in the Girasole apartment) in late May and had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. The villa is lovely: it is modern, clean and very well looked after; the rooms are large and airy, and our apartment and its beautiful terrace had stunning sea views. The grounds are also super - we enjoyed walking around them, sitting by the pool, swimming in it and just enjoying the peace and birdsong. The photos on the website don't exaggerate: if anything, the real-life experience is even better! Our wonderful hosts (Dario, Nadia, and her father) encouraged us to take fruit from the orchard, so we got to eat fresh grapefruits and cherries every day (and we would have had oranges instead if we'd been a few weeks earlier), and we swam in the pool most days (in spite of it being a bit cold - it is a few degrees cooler than Catania, being in the foothills of Etna). At this time of year (and in August), Etna is quite cloudy during the daytime, but we could see it smoking in the early morning and late afternoon. We could walk into the picturesque village (Santa Venerina), where there was a wonderful shop selling local produce, as well as a supermarket, restaurant, fish shop, butchers, cheese shop (selling ricotta made daily from sheep which grazed in the villa's pasture!), and others; we happily cooked in the villa kitchen most days. It was an easy 20 minute drive to the Giarre-Riposta station, from where we could get trains to Catania or Taormina if we didn't want to drive all the way there (and parking was fairly cheap - just a few euros, but make sure to have coins!), and we could also drive to Etna with ease. One of the days, we took the Circumetnea train around Etna from just next to the Giarra-Riposta station, which was a very pretty journey. (Again, have cash to buy tickets - no cards accepted.) Other days, we just rested at the villa, enjoying the balcony, the grounds, the peace, the views and the sounds. The whole villa and village also felt very safe. We could not have had a nicer holiday, and we would very much like to go back again. We'd highly recommend it.
Wonderful, well equipped apartment, with sweeping views of the sea and Mt. Etna. Dario was great showing us around, explaining where to shop and visit. The location places you on the doorstep of everything the Mt. Etna region has to offer. There is much adventure to be found, but you will be tempted to while away the days in this quiet, tranquil place -- where even the cats are friendly! Great place to stay.
Amazing location - beautifully designed
Girasole apartment was just right for the 2 of us - it gave us fantastic views from the balconies of the sea, Mount Etna and the beautifully landscaped grounds with fruit trees and vines. Swimming in the big pool also gave us the same breath taking views. Off the beaten track and up a private road made it feel more exclusive. However one could walk to the local small town easily if one did not want to take the car. The location was ideal for visiting Mount Etna and the surrounding villages but also for visiting Taormina and Catania and beyond. The two lane motorway at this time of year made it quick and easy to get around by car. Our hosts were extremely friendly, kind and helpful
Wonderful Place, just a true Paradise in Sicily
What can we say. We came as tourists and left as friends. That's the best thing, what can happen in a holiday. The Villa Etnamare has an amazing view. It is quired, sorrounded by a wonderful garden whith lots of fruits, vegetables and herbs. We cooked a lot with ingriedents from the garden. The four appartments are well equiped and have all a fantastic view. The pool is just great. Our daughter loved to dive for hours:-). Nadia, Angelo and Dario are so nice hosts - we just want to say thank you - we will definitly come back!!!
Grazie mille e a presto!

We loved EtnaMare and the entire family.
First, I must say that the picture of the pool and views are more amazing in real life. The grounds are wonderful with fruits and herbs you can pick. We picked cherries, lemons, oranges, and plums that were delicious. We picked our herbs from the grounds to cook. This entire experience with the land was precious and beautiful. It was just my husband and me (we were on our honeymoon) and it was very peaceful and relaxing. The City of Santa Venerina is very quiet so if you want more “action” it’s about 15 minutes away. There are several vineyards nearby which Nadia and Dario can help you with. You will live like a true Italian here. Angelo and Teresa (the mom and dad) are great! We had a cooking class with the family which was one of our most memorable events on our Italy trip. It started off with us going to the fish market in Catania. If you like cooking and Italian food, we recommend you do it. I’ve cooked the Pasta alla Norma a couple times already as well as the zucchini salad. Teresa’s cooking was amazing and a recipe from her mom! The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The only I would point out as a negative is the size of the shower. It was a bit tight and small for American standards. We look forward to going back.
A lovely stay at Etnamare
Great place, lovely swimming pool and surroundings, very friendly peoply en nice weather. We'll come back!

Villa EtnAmare lies only 500 metres away from Santa Venerina, a village famed for the production of sweets and liqueurs. The 'Russo' bar is well-known for the production of sweets: 'cornetti al miele' (croissants filled with honey), marzipan fruit and almond pastries. Santa Venerina is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily thanks to its very strategic position halfway between Catania and Taormina. The village distance 5 minutes from the highway A18 Catania-Messina from which (in an average time of 20 minutes) it is possible to reach the most beautiful places of Eastern Sicily. It is the ideal starting point for a visit to Taormina, Catania, Acicastello, Acitrezza, Acireale, Etna, Siracusa, Giardini Naxos... The charming town of Acireale distance only 15 km from Santa Venerina. It is situated next to the 'Riviera dei Ciclopi', a unique coast with a crystal clear sea and lava stacks (faraglioni) which is believed by Greek mythology to correspond to the stones thrown by blind Polifemo to Ulysses. The Riviera traditional resort towns of Acicastello and Acitrezza have long been a magnet for local day trips and offer arguably the best Granita to be found anywhere and lots of good seafood trattorias.Catania, with its rich architectural heritage, its vibrant markets, restaurants and shops, is only 30 minutes away from the village. The east coast Ionian Riviera has some of Sicily's most picturesque pebbly and sandy beaches including those of Isola Bella, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni (below Taormina).Santa Venerina is just 25 km from Gardini Naxos and 30 km (20 minutes with the highway) from Taormina, which draws more visitors than any other town in Sicily, thanks to its splendid position, its elegant shops, and its Greek/Roman theatre with a unique view of Mount Etna.Torre Archirafi, Pozzillo and Santa Maria la Scala are pleasant seaside villages near Santa Venerina. The nearest can be found in Praiola (8 km), a wild pebbled beach next to an impressive cliff. Santa Venerina is also an excellent starting point from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The towns and villages that dot the flanks of Etna, such as Zafferana Etnea, Trecastagni and Randazzo, are well worth stopping off for a visit to their seventeenth century churches built in lava stone or for a spot of lunch in restaurants offering delicious local products. The village is only 4 km away from Zafferana Etnea and 10 km from Rifugio Sapienza, the main ski area, where it is possible to take the Etna cableway, up to the main craters.
