Why Melanie Nance chose Big Creek
We built our first vacation home just a few doors away from this after enjoying a most memorable getaway in 2004. Since then, we've come to love the way you can slip away for a long weekend or make it a couple week stay on the lake -- without ever having to go thru the crazy long drive or packing necessary for a beach vacation from the Midwest. Norris Lake's unspoiled natural beauty, as the cleanest of the TVA lakes in all of Tennessee, its sparkling aqua-blue-green water reminiscent of the teal blue color of the Caribbean, and family-orientation has kept us coming back ever since. Flat Hollow is a favorite marina on the lake, and we love running into friends from 'back home' and making new friends with every trip.
What makes this Cabin unique
This area in particular offers all the best of a nature-driven getaway without feeling totally disconnected. The convenience of the marinas, the short drive availability of whatever's needed or forgotten back to town, the wooded homesite and convenient dock and swim deck on the water, plus the loads of options for things to do inside or out make it a new experience with every visit. I hope you and your family or group will enjoy making memories here as well, and we appreciate your considering a stay with us!

Beautiful getaway spot
We had a magical getaway with breath taking views
This house was amazing to host our family. We rented this house last minute running away from hurricane Irma in Florida. The owners responded so quickly, the house was very spacious and had amazing view by the lake where the kids were able to explore and interact with nature. Definetly recommend it!
Family reunion weekend on the lake...
We stayed at the property in late August. The house is very nice and everything is new, so that is a big plus. The five bedrooms are all a good size. We thought the downstairs units would have been more comfortable with the same wood floors that is through the rest of the house. The extra refrigerator downstairs was nice for keeping the drinks cold and extra ice in the freezer. The separate AC unit for the upstairs bedrooms was also a pleasant surprise.
The lake was down, so unfortunately there was no way you could easily access the dock. Also getting to the dock was a lot trickier than we anticipated, as the terrain is a little difficult to negotiate. The lack of parking available at the house could be an issue for larger parties.
All in all we enjoyed our stay very much.
Excellent Home for Group Weekend Getaway!
My group and I rented this for an extended weekend stay in June. The house was fantastic! It is perfectly tucked away so you get a good feeling of privacy in your cove. Short 15 minute trip up the road from grocery stores and the like. Everything was clean and organized upon arrival. The bedrooms were very cozy and there was a ton of sleeping space! The upstairs bedrooms are equipped with their own A/C setup. This is HUGE. I can't tell you how many cabins and houses I've stayed in where the downstairs and main floor feel great, but the upstairs is a miserable oven. Not here, the owners clearly thought ahead when they installed the supplemental A/C system. EVERYONE in the house stayed comfy as a result.
Dock was small and its a slope to get down to it. Not a big deal for us 20 something year olds but older adults may have a challenge. It's exactly what we needed, no more and no less. Water in the cove is crystal clear and fishing was a fun time at time. You could shine a light and see straight to the ground. Tons of board games were at the house and TV's had satellite hookup. The only somewhat negative we had the entire trip was the grass in the yard. It was a little overgrown and I'm assuming it was because of the amount of rain we were getting in June. Not a deal breaker by any means but for families who would want to make use of the yard for games and whatnot, I would request to make sure it is cut before arrival!
Overall, we were at the house just for meal time and sleep and it was all we could ask for and more! If you are looking for a nice clean place to stay with the amenities you need for lake life, this is it! Bring the boat and the group and go have a blast, you won't regret it! Thanks to the owners for a wonderful vacation and we look forward to another stay next year :)
