About Debbie Barazetti
We fell in love with this beautiful village in 2013 and were so thrilled to buy our house. It needed a lot of renovation and we were determined to transform it into somewhere with a real 'wow' factor, so that people coming on holiday would be delighted, and with elements of understated luxury, such as the private pool and terrace, Nespresso coffee machine etc..We wanted to be in a village where we could mix with friendly people and learn French (a very slowly developing skill!). We love the area, and have invested again by buying an apartment in Bordeaux (also available for seasonal lets!), a fantastic city full of culture.
Debbie Barazetti purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Debbie Barazetti chose Gensac
We looked at so many houses before choosing this one. It was absolutely perfect for us, built with the ancient stone (maison pierre), and with so many pretty and original features. Small but absolutely perfect, we have designed the cottage to be somewhere we would be happy to stay ourselves, and to take the stress out of going on holiday!
What makes this Cottage unique
The peaceful setting with pool views from both bedrooms and being able to step out on to the terrace and enjoy a swim at any time of day or night is so luxurious! Being in a village means you can enjoy fresh morning croissants, evening drinks and meals and all the benefits of speaking a little French without getting in your car!

We love having guests, but we have to have a few rules, for everyone's enjoyment.. Strictly no smoking anywhere on the property. No fake tan please, it ruins our pool! We are in a village and people may have work the next day, so please be considerate. No loud music, especially late at night please. Please use picnic ware provided for drinks by the pool, glass is dangerous.

Lovely cottage with all the mod cons in a pretty French village
We absolutely loved our weeks stay at La Porte Bleue with our 4 year old in September, and wished we had booked it for longer! The cottage is small, but perfectly formed, and met all of our needs, and the outside space and pool are great. Debbie and John are friendly with invaluable local knowledge on hand whenever you need them without being intrusive. We particularly enjoyed walking to Chateau Carbonneaux to sample wine and tasty plates, as well as the excellent Le Gensake restaurant, which is a stones throw away from the house. We love this area, and will be back !
Jacqueline and her family were wonderful guests, we greatly enjoyed having them. The swimming pool was particularly popular with her adorable and beautifully behaved 4 year old; he was one of several young guests who learned to swim in it for the first time this summer!
It was a pleasure to meet Jacqueline and her family and we very much look forward to their return
A really pretty cottage in the heart of Gensac
We really enjoyed two fantastic weeks at La Porte Bleue in Gensac. We loved the location of the cottage which is minutes walk to the heart of a very pretty French village. The village has its own boulangerie, local store, Tabac, and two really good restaurants and bars. We ate a few times in Le Gensake which serves great food and some very good local wine.
We made the most of our time in the area and with Debbie's help and great advice on where to go and what to see, we visited many wonderful places. Our kids as well as us really found this part of the world to be really beautiful and the people we met were incredibly welcoming.
The cottage is very pretty and very well appointed. While it's small, it provided everything we needed for our stay. We loved the pool and played lots of table tennis - lots of fun was had! Debbie gave us a lovely welcome and made us feel at home immediately.
All in all, a really great holiday!
Julie and her family were delightful guests, they made the most of everything during their stay and looked after the cottage beautifully.
They would be welcome back any time.
Once again a wonderful stay in La Porte Bleue!
We had such a wonderful week at La Porte Bleue in 2017 we didn't think we could possibly beat it in 2018, but we did! The cottage was as comfortable and well-equipped as before and we were able to explore more of the village and surrounding areas as well as getting a few insider tips on where to go from our incredibly kind hosts. The fireworks on Bastille Day will always be an amazing memory. The weather was glorious and the pool was an oasis for both us and our two children. We'd love to come back again!
French village experience
We really enjoyed our stay at La Porte Blue. Debbie the owner was very helpful, especially when it came to making sure we had everything we needed for out 18 month old daughter. Communication was also excellent, be it through the app, SMS or notes left in the apartment. The property itself is clean and very well appointed with everything you need to self cater and keep yourselves entertained. It's not big, but big enough for us and is in the heart of a quiet and charming French village. It's also a short drive to many lovely towns and vineyards. I'd very much recommend La Porte Blue for a relaxing and authentic French village experience.
What a lovely family! James' little daughter is adorable; she hugely enjoyed the pool and it was a delight to see her toddling around the village.
We thoroughly enjoyed having James and his family and would welcome them back any time.
What a gem!
Debbie & her partner did all & more to make our stay at La Porte Bleu a success. We had a lovely weekend & the gite had everything we needed. It was so convenient for the wedding venue, we would thoroughly recommend a stay at La Porte Bleu! Thank you so much for everything.
We were delighted to host Louise and her family. They were wonderful guests and would be welcome back any time!
Staying at La Porte Bleue was perfect for a new years getaway!!! Debbie was extremely helpful and communicative. She made us reservations at Le Gensake which we actually ate at twice and connected us with neighboring wineries. The cottage was clean and easy to find- approximately a half hr from St. Emilion train station. We will definitely be back!
It was so lovely to host Alyssa. She was a perfect guest, making the most of the cottage and the village restaurants!
She realised the perfect time to visit Chateaux and vineyards is out of season so they had private tours of some of the most famous wine chateaux and enjoyed some unique tasting experiences, really making the most of their week away.
We will be delighted to welcome Alyssa back in spring with friends and family!
Situated in the Bordeaux wine area, surrounded by vineyards, there are opportunities to taste wine and visit Chateaux everywhere. St. Emilion, at half an hours drive is a highlight, with historical tours (including an incredible underground monolithic church), including horse riding between the Chateaux! The area is steeped in history, with ancient Bastide villages and towns to enjoy walks and days out. there is a typical French market to visit every day in one of the Bastide towns. St. Foy la Grande was recently voted one of the best fresh produce markets in France, great fun to potter around and soak up the atmosphere. In high summer there are night markets where you can buy locally sourced food and eat outdoors, among the locals, enjoying a glass of some of the best wine in the world with no air miles, and often live music too!
There are lots of activities nearby, including internationally renowned Chateaux des Vigiers golf course with it's Michelin starred restaurant, luxury spa and regular events menu. The peaceful Dordogne river is a just a few minutes away and in Pessac, you can hire canoes and take a leisurely journey down stream to a wonderful riverside bar/restaurant. Further afield, the Lascaux Caves are a wonderful day out; Arcachon Bay is a fantastic seaside destination with boat trips and unique dunes (Dune du Pyla is the highest range in Europe), and the ancient City of Bordeaux which was voted the best European destination in 2015 is a great find. There are so many things to do! Bordeaux has fantastic architecture, ancient cobbled streets with many independent shops and boutiques (perfect for gift shopping), and a beautiful promenade along the river. You can enjoy a glass of world famous wine, book a walking tour, and eat one of the Michelin starred restaurants.
