Location, location, location!
The location of this home is perfect. It's a nice neighborhood, clearly undergoing gentrification and on an upward trend. We felt very safe. The home is located close to the lake (2 blocks one direction, downhill) and close to the bus system for public transportation (2 blocks the other direction, uphill). It's a short bus ride to downtown Seattle, the University and the Space Needle. There are a couple convenience stores located nearby for minor needs, and several restaurants, though the area is very expensive. The coffee shop on the corner by the bus stop has wonderful pastries, great service and is moderately priced, I highly recommend.
Rebecca was great to work with, before check in, during our stay, and afterward. She helped with things a hotel concierge would do, such as travel time estimates to the airport. When my son forgot his stuffed animal in the house, Rebecca made sure she found it and mailed it back!
All of that said, the home itself is not fantastic. There are many new multi-unit condos in the area, and this is very much the oldest home on the block. The grass in the front yard was dead except for the weeds, and the bushes were not trimmed. The main living areas of the inside of the home have been refinished, but the kitchen and bath remain quite small and dated. There is no air conditioning in the house, which isn't an issue unless you visit during a rare heat wave like we did. The garage to the unit is VERY small and VERY hard to navigate. If the side mirrors of my mid-size SUV didn't fold inward, we never would have fit it inside. The garage is also located on the back side of the property, with access via an alley. If you pull into the garage, you will need to bring your luggage into the lower level and drag it up the wooden stairs. My advice: double park in the front of the property at street level, unload your belongings, then drive down to the garage. I would say this property sleeps 4 comfortably, in the two upstairs bedrooms. There is a bed and futons in the basement, but neither of my sons (9 and 17) would sleep down there because it's pretty creepy and not what is shown in the photos online.
TLDR; This is a Motel 6- level value property. Don't expect Hilton accommodations at this price. But if you're looking for a place to sleep with a great location, it's a safe bet.
Very clean, well-supplied home
We were very happy with our stay at Rebecca's house. The location was great, the house clean, the kitchen well-supplied with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, and even some food. The only things that were not great were the fact that there was only one bathroom (but that, of course, we knew in advance...just a little surprising in a house that sleeps 8), and the height of the beds. My husband and I are not exactly tall, but not that short either. It was a struggle for both of us to get up on our bed. My mother, with whom we shared the house, had to use a chair to get up on hers. But these matters are fairly trivial. All in all, it was fine!
Location was wonderful
The home we stayed in and the accommodation we were given were both exceptional. Group of us were renting in Seattle for a week to attend a wedding. Unit was affordable and was ready early, before the designated check-in time. Access was simple, the 6 of us quickly felt at home with plenty of room for activities in the 3 bedroom, 1 bath space. Every morning, a short walk down the road with home brewed coffee in hand seemed to be the best decision I made. There was a lovely park (group of steps with park bench) leading down to lake union in the quiet quaint neighborhood. Next to that, a small market with most of the essentials, including an extensive wine aisle. There was great food places within walking distance including a great dive bar up the street filled with all the best bar games (shuffle board/billiards/ping pong). Capitol Hill was a short Uber ride away. Bike rentals were available around the neighborhood and near the market, highly recommend doing some kayak rentals to fully enjoy lake union. Communication with Rebecca was fluid, and response time was immediate. We even had someone in the group fly home with the spare unit key, mailed it back to Rebecca a few days later with no repercussions (thanks again Rebecca). This House was the best decision we could have made for our stay. Would rent again!
It was a perfect place for us. We came in for a wedding and it was a central area for all of us
The house felt like home very soon. Lots of space for all of us
Loved it so much the first time, we came for a 2nd week!
Wonderful area! We loved the small neighborhood atmosphere where we felt part of local Seattle culture, yet so easily accessible to everything. Just being on the ramp from the neighborhood getting onto Highway 5 affords one of the best views of the Seattle skyline, which is lovely day or night. Close to Lake Union (with small swimming area) across from Pete's market. There's even a mailbox outside the front door where we mailed our postcards (so come with stamps so you don't need to find a post office). The accommodations are clean & comfortable, with plenty of comfortable seating on which to relax & huge TV's. The beds & bedding are comfortable. Rebecca & Tina are great! Will stay here again when we return to Seattle. The only way it could be better is if there was a screen on the front storm door to allow for a cross breeze on warmer days. But fans were generously provided so it was fine.
Village atmosphere close to pulse of City
Lovely houseboats on lake, just like movie, 'Sleepless in Seattle,' but nothing 'Sleepless' about this property because the beds and quality of the sheets are excellent. Everything good, and Tina, the housekeeper and all-around font of information, is wonderful. She filled in admirably for Rebecca who was away on holiday. Looking forward to returning on the 18th, after our Alaskan cruise! Thank you, Tina!
