Guestbook comments from the owner

"Excellent Christmas Retreat. We have stayed at the cottage three times for Christmas. Twice at Tantramar and the last stay at Seagates. Our family of adult children is scattered and each year we pick a cottage to get together to celebrate the season. Over the years we keep coming back to these quaint cottages overlooking the ocean to reaquaint as a family. The cottages are extremely well appointed with all the conveniences for cooking and have a very homey atmosphere with the fireplaces and all the games in the cupboard for evening activity. Great places to stay. Will be going back soon."

Tantramar Cottage gets lovelier every time we visit

  • 5 of 5

Since we last visited the deck has been extended with a walkout from the master bedroom. It is simply a beautiful location for a get away. Janet McPhee as always is a very helpful and accommodating host.

Tantramar Cottage was outstanding! We loved everything about it and we're already planning to return every year. The location was amazing, the sunsets were incredible, the patio and deck were the best places to while away an afternoon. The only problem was that we had to leave!! Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

A Memorable Cottage with Charm - Exceptional Value for a Beautiful Oceanfront Setting

  • 5 of 5

It is a pleasure to write a review on a property that exceeded my expectations. From the initial conversation with Janet on selecting dates to a relaxed check out on a rainy day, there was a genuine interest to assist in making the most of our memorable stay.

The private landscaped grounds, including a cherry tree in full bloom, and the remarkable setting overlooking the ocean is not easily captured in photos.

The purposefully furnished terrace in addition to the covered deck provides several spaces to enjoy throughout the day and evening. The historical charm of the cottage and complimentary furnishings, linens and every imaginable household item made for a seamless stay. The wood fireplace creates a perfect evening setting to reminisce or read a book. The claw foot tub and heated floor is also a nice touch.

The sunsets are brilliant and the soft beach is an amazing place to sit on the logs, swim or launch a paddle board. This property is exceptionally private (larger than expected) and offers an opportunity to relax and connect with nature and family.

There are many options to rent various properties, though my family looks forward to returning as there is a little magic and incredible value to spending time in this special home.

Thank you kindly Janet and Lorraine.

Great, but no sunsets.

  • 5 of 5

We started visiting Salt Spring 40 years ago. First it was St. Mary's Lake, then the Booth Bay cabins, and for the last 25 or so years, alternating between Spindrift, the Dowry House, and Tantramar. It had been a couple of years since we stayed at Tantramar, and the changes make a wonderful place even more pleasant. Brighter, better views, heated bathroom floor, and more than enough deck space. Now only if the sun had come out, even for an hour or so during the week! But we will be back.

Wonderful Stay on Salt Spring Island

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your wonderful beach front home. We totally enjoyed every minute. Watching the Ferries, eating fish and chips and walking our dogs in duck creek park.

Hope to stay again when the weather is warmer.

Best Regards, Karen
