About Sheila L. Stone

The following information is about the Homeowners, not the Property Manager.

We are a retired couple from the Bay Area who have fallen in love with Three Rivers in our visits here over the past 15 years. This year we discovered through friends (and were able to buy) this spectacular little ranch house with 360 views of the Sierra peaks, rivers, sunset looking down the valley - an endless delight. A special feature is being just inside the Sequoia National Park, so we feel that we are a part of a wonderful tradition of reverence and conservation of this treasure. We love to head out our door in the early morning or evening for walks in every direction just out our door. The river with places to fish and swim are an easy 20 minute walk and the Foothills Visitor Center with its' beautiful and informative displays in easy reach. No need to get in your car until you are ready to head up to see the magnificent and, in John Muir's words, "noble trees", the Sequoias!

Since we still call Berkeley our home, we decided to share it with guests when we are away. We have furnished it with some of our treasures from travels over the years for both work and the pleasure of exploration. We have rugs and artwork gathered during our work in India and Mexico, and travels in Morocco and Turkey.

We hope that you will experience a sense of wonder while you are here, surrounded by the ever changing beauty of nature, the sound of the river, watching the hummingbirds, butterflies and bees that love our garden as much as we do, along with countless other birds, quail families and Ravens and Hawks soaring overhead.

We trust that you will treat our home as you would your own.

Notes:
This home is situated inside Sequoia National Park boundaries. From the living room and the back deck the only view you have is of the mountainous terrain of the Sequoia National Park! The home was previously owned for over 30 years by a local park historian, who has recently retired. During his many years here he planted an amazing Native California plant garden. Wander through the paths to check out the amazing variety of flowers and watch humming birds collect nectar! On the back deck there is a amazing picnic table and bench made out of Sequoia wood! This table is conveniently located to give you the best views that the house has to offer!

Perfect experience

  • 5 of 5

Every aspect of this home was amazing. Very clean, very comfortable, very epic location. The attention to detail was great. My wife and I stayed with our 3 yr. old and our 80 yr old parents, and would stay again if we ever found our way back to this area. So far our best rental experience. Thank you.

Best vacation yet

  • 5 of 5

House was neat and clean. Inside the park. The backyard is teaming with life. Deer, squirrels, birds, tarantulas even a young buck we saw it all. One of those houses where you already feel like your at home after about 20 min. Being only 45 min away from the major park attractions puts you at a major advantage over other people. The weather was actually perfect.

Great home with fantastic view

  • 4 of 5

This is a wonderful home in the foothills of Sequoia National Park. Lots of space, well stocked home. We felt like were staying in the home of a well traveled friend. The view of Moro Rock and the stars at night were amazing. It is a long drive to central part of the park and the mountain, higher elevation hiking trails. Of course, we were there in the middle of a hot summer so we really couldn't hike at the lower elevations. This would be an absolute "5" if you were there in the spring or fall when the weather is cooler and you can really take advantage of the foothills area of the park.

Relaxing, great place for a family

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home with amazing deck. The kids loved the "nature paths" in the yard and my daughter was thrilled to find a doll house in one room. Kitchen was well-furnished and had all the needed staples. A great getaway.

Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

We have so enjoyed our stay! The views from the deck are amazing and the gardens are truly unique. The house was very comfortable and clean. We spent our days hiking in the nearby parks and mornings and evenings reading and playing games at the house. Never even turned on the TV. Perfect getaway! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with our family!

Great Location, Great Vibe!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four (2 parents, plus 2 girls ages 7 and 10) absolutely adored this wonderful place! Brilliant location with incredible views from EVERY SINGLE WINDOW (even the baths - and you want those views - the surrounding landscape is stunning). The home is very warm, inviting and nicely updated (but still with loads of original charm - never change that sunny, yellow bath !!! - and that beautiful beamed ceiling, just wow!) mid-century bungalow style home with skylights and glass doors everywhere that open to the fresh air and golden light from nearly every direction. (The home is oriented to capture sunrise and sunset.) It has an international vibe and a loving family feel (travel collectibles from Mexico, loads of gorgeous carpets, brass telescope, stone fireplace, lovely family portraiture) that make this place feel like an actual home, not a rental space. It's very well thought out, upscale and welcoming, but (and I say this with great respect) not *fancy* - it felt perfect for the area we were visiting. The kitchen was nicely updated and a breeze to cook in (and I LOVE to cook)... All I can say is: We absolutely adored our stay. We saw a bear. We walked the gardens. We played games and cooked and hiked and loved it all. My girls actually hugged the door jamb as we departed.
