‘Miles Away’ is where memories are made and golf can be played! A favorite upscale private home for the MASTER'S TOURNAMENT in AUGUSTA, and a unique alternative to cramped standard chain variety hotel rooms with hard beds and thin pillows and walls. A great choice to avoid the crowds too! This luxurious rental is a reasonable drive down I-20E to Augusta, just over an hour to the best golf-spectator event of your life! Multiple world renowned golf courses for you to play are within 10 miles, and we are only an hour from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport. You can even practice chipping in our large, flat back yard!

Professionally decorated and fully furnished, this immaculate, private lake front home of over 4200 square feet, has a spectacular view across the main lake. No hills and no coves!

Located on three acres and nestled among towering trees, the flat grassy landscaped lot lends itself to a game of football, softball, croquet, horse shoes, or chipping golf balls. 300 feet of gorgeous, pristine main lake shoreline with a private beach area and max vinyl dock with boat slip and party deck, perfect for swimming, fishing, sun bathing or watching one of our exquisite sunsets.

This million dollar, executive-style home offers a large, extensively equipped, gourmet kitchen, complete with granite countertops, Jenn Air appliances, and island, allowing you to cook while enjoying the company of your family. A warm, gracious family room is a great lake front sitting area and invites you to enjoy the magnificent, wood-burning, floor to ceiling stone fireplace while reading, watching a movie, or playing a game. A variety of books, CDs, movies, puzzles and games are available.

The first floor master bedroom, with lake views, has a private door to the large deck, queen-size canopy bed, walk-in California closet and luxurious marble bath with two sinks and separate walk-in shower. Upstairs are three roomy, professionally decorated, bedrooms (one with private bath) with queen-size beds. Another full bath is located in the upstairs hall. The main floor laundry room is complete with a large capacity washer and dryer.

The large bonus room upstairs is a wonderful play area -- complete with toys and a pool table -- or makes a great retreat for the kids to throw down sleeping bags or air mattresses and 'camp out.' The office nook includes a desk, hi-speed internet and router, so you can keep up with business while you are on vacation. A queen-size sleeper sofa is located in the downstairs den, which doubles for a separate TV/game area or can act as a fifth bedroom, complete with a Sony Playstation 2 for the kids.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION--'Miles Away' provides both serene privacy and ultimate convenience; nearby are restaurants, groceries, spa and gym facilities, golf courses, marinas, gas stations and a variety of shopping. One of the best places to stay for the Master's Tournament in Augusta!

During the fall, which offers a colorful display with the leaves changing, enjoy the patio and fire pit -- great for conversing and making s'mores with family. 'Escape' for the weekend during the winter months, which are always warm and inviting for quality family time and game playing, or a romantic getaway.

About Rebecca

Our family is originally from the South - Rebecca was born in Georgia. We have had the opportunity to move across our great country and live in Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, New York, Maryland, California, Illinois and finally, back to Georgia! It has been a positive experience meeting new people, visiting historic landmarks and museums and taking advantage of what each area has to offer. When Rebecca was growing up, her grandparents owned a drive-in theatre and she has warm, fuzzy and wonderful memories of her time watching movies on the big-screen, playing on the playground and helping make pizzas! Our decision to purchase a second home on the lake was to provide our family with fantastic, warm and endearing memories of our own. We love to ski, swim, fish, boat, cook, eat outdoors, play games, ride bikes, etc... and we can do it all at 'Miles Away!'

Rebecca purchased this house in 2002

Why Rebecca chose Metro Atlanta, Central & Southern

After one trip to Lake Oconee, 374 miles of shoreline and 19,000 acres of spectacular recreational living, we realized what a multi-faceted gem it is! Rich in history and tucked away, this scenic resort area is one of the most beautiful regions of Georgia and represents the charm and grace of the old South with hundreds of acres of unspoiled nature at our doorstep. It is the state's premier golf and lake resort area boasting eight world class golf courses and is easily accessible to Atlanta, Athens and Augusta. An easy drive down I-20E for just over an hour will take you to the famous Master's tournament! It has some of the South's best boating, fishing and equestrian facilities. We appreciate the area's warm summers and mild winters. Miles Away is centrally located: the grocery, golf courses, Ritz Carlton, locally owned shops and boutiques, 4-star restaurants and southern barbeque are all within minutes. For more adventures with the family, the area has horseback riding, guided boat tours and nature trails. There are also special events such as music festivals, craft shows, fishing tournaments and holiday celebrations. What better way to make wonderful memories with your children and grandchildren than swimming, fishing, tubing, golfing, skiing, boating, cooking s'mores, playing games, building sand castles or just watching them do it all and you take the pictures!

What makes this house unique

Our family fell in love with the spectacular location, property, and main lake view - the large, flat lot with over 300 feet of main lake shore line looks across at breathtaking natural beauty and phenomenal sunsets. The large patio with grill and fire pit and small, but private, beach area are two very useful amenities. Miles Away is wonderfully stocked, which makes packing much easier. The golf cart (available to rent) is nice for transporting everything back and forth from the house to the lake. There is a boat ramp one mile down the street and the closest marina is less than 5 minutes by boat. Quiet, comfortable and ultimate convenience - we love that Miles Away really is like a home away from home, where we can relax, renew and rediscover!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Rebecca, things could not have gone better. We had a fantastic time, the boys caught fish, it was beautiful to go out to the dock at 7:00 a.m. each morning to fish. The fire pit was a huge plus, we used it every night to sit around and cook smores. Your house was so well equipped, we have rented homes several times but never had a home this well equipped, PS2, books, games, yard toys, kitchen utensils……..Your home is beautiful, we all spent a lot of time outside in the big yard, playing games and volleyball. We were spoiled with the golf cart, so easy to go back and forth from the house to the lake. It was so nice to walk into your house and feel like we were in a home, not a rental house. We went to Athens which was a quick ride, ate at the Blue Willow in Social Circle, went to Pounders for steaks.

Thanks again for sharing your beautiful home with us and allowing our family to create great memories!

Exceptional Rental

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 plus grandparents and aunt thoroughly enjoyed our family time at Miles Away. The weather was cold and rainy but we still had a memorable time playing games and hanging out by the fireplace. Rebecca called me just before our arrival and her hospitality was heartwarming -- she sincerely wanted us to have a good time and to feel at home. The house lacks for nothing and is gorgeous. Our children are older so we were not concerned about them spilling/staining/damaging anything but if you have young children, I think you would want to keep a close eye on them just to ensure you leave the house in the same beautiful condition you found it. That being said, there is a game/billiard room stock full of toys that could entertain youngsters for a very long time. My only recommendation would be to swap one of the 3 queen bedrooms for a set of twin beds -- this would make it more amenable to 2 people sharing a room (one of my older boys slept on the pullout sofa in what we dubbed the "reading room" but it does not have a door and is near the kitchen and great room which made noise challenging).

Perfect Family Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My family of six stayed at Miles Away and had, quite possibly, the best vacation we've ever had. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the serenity of the location and the warmth of the home. Also, the owner of the home personally met us to show us around and ask the children what water "toys" they wanted and showed us how to use them. This personal touch was unexpected but very much appreciated and really was just one piece of evidence about how much TLC went into preparing this home for guests.

If you're a boating or water sports enthusiast - or just enjoy reading a book by the lake - this is the ideal location. The home is situated on an area of the lake where there is little boat traffic and faces west so the sunsets are breathtaking. The home also features a perfectly manicured backyard that is perfect for playing ball with the kids.

I could go on and on about this wonderful home and amenities (pool table, hundreds of movies, multiple TVs) but the reviews speak for themselves. I've been to Lake Oconee a few times now and can't think of anywhere else I would rather stay.

"Miles Away" Lakeside Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay in “Miles Away” from January 30 to March 6 of 2015. We had bought a house in Griffin, Georgia and put our house in Franklin, Tennessee, on the market. Our house sold within three days and closed in less than three weeks, but we could not close on our new home until March 2nd.

The time of year we where there did not allow us to use any of the many, many outdoor amenities this rental offers. Because “Miles Away” provided us with games, three TV’s, CD’s, DVD’s, a fine library of hardbacks and sitting in the breakfast nook or in the living room watching stunning sunsets over the lake, we had more than enough to do to keep us busy and our minds occupied. “Miles Away” is a truly great place just to rest and relax. Go there to unwind, decompress, and get your batteries recharged!

A special treat for both of us was taking advantage of all the wonders of the area as we went exploring. We visited many historic sites and antebellum homes and locations. Not far is Madison, Georgia, the ‘Crown Jewel’ of antebellum homes. A town Sherman bypassed on his march to the sea.

Then there was great shopping and fine dining in the area. We managed to buy more than we needed for our new home. We ate twice at The Waterside Restaurant in the Golf Resort of Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. My wife is a lover of sea food and a great judge of its quality. She has eaten crab cakes from the far West Coast of Canada (Tofino on Vancouver Island, BC) to the Outer Banks of the far Eastern U.S. She tells me the 12 oz crab cakes at Waterside were among the very best she has ever eaten! Bar none!!

It was obvious to us the Youngblood’s had planned the décor using great taste and the furnishing were elegant, yet the ambiance made us feel right at home. Our five plus weeks were gone in no time. We are so glad we were able to spend our time in “Miles Away”, as our time ‘Flew Away’.

We can’t wait for the chance to go back in the summer. With all the great outdoor activities and “toys” this rental provides we would have more offered to us than we could possibility ever take advantage of.

WOW!

  • 5 of 5

Miles Away is an amazing home on Lake Oconee. My husband and I went there for a romantic getaway over New Years, and we were not disappointed in anyway. The home was beautifully furnished, with a warm and cozy feeling. Sitting by the firepit overlooking the lake was a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year! We can't wait to go back and enjoy all the lake and home have to offer! I would highly recommend Miles Away to anyone looking to get miles away for a nice, relaxing vacation!
