Great hosts; easy travel throughout central ME. Expect some small disadvantages from an 1833 house.
Needs some marker to identify the road entrance onto property. Maybe reflectors? Bedroom thermostat did not work. Cold at times. Lighting in oldest section of the house was lacking. Expect cold cereal for continental breakfast in middle of week (4 days). Put table beneath large mirror on king bedroom. Having tv in large sitting room would be more comfortable for viewing. As it is, the sitting room does not lend itself to use.
Hosts were very friendly. Room was clean and bed very comfortable. Beautiful sugar maple trees set off the historical aspect of the house. Try the China Dine-ah for local dining. HUGE servings and reasonable prices.
Very lovely and gracious stay.
We loved the home. The rooms were clean and spacious. Gary and Fiona were gracious and welcoming. Loved watching the sunset from the hammocks. Would recommend this to friends.
The house is beautiful. The hosts are kind and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and healthy.
After two nights in this beautiful home, I felt that I had made new friends. The hosts were flexible, friendly, and kind. They provided breakfast when it was most convenient for me and they were attentive to my dietary restrictions. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you want to stay on a quiet, beautiful property, with an easy walk to a lovely lake.
It was our sincere pleasure to host and meet you. We look forward to that happy day when our paths cross again. Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review!
A perfect evening
We wanted a quiet night to reflect on the past 18 years before leaving my daughter at college. It was a perfect evening. Gary and Fiona suggested several fun spots to eat, get ice cream and see the local sights. We sat on the deck by a fire under the stars. Peaceful and serene. The beds were comfy and breakfast delicious. Loved the beautiful historic building. We wish you weren't booked for parents weekend. I should have stayed 2 nights to recover before driving 1600 miles home.
It was such a pleasure to host you both and we hope to see you again some day. All the very best to your sweet daughter as she starts the next phase of her life. We are here if she needs local.parentals
Friendly hosts, well appointed home
Very nice hosts, welcoming, friendly and respectful of privacy too. The house is well appointed, comfortable, and historically charming. Traffic sounds from the nearby road bothered me a bit.
The home and grounds are perfect and our hosts, Gary & Fiona, were charming and so much fun (including the goats, Ron & Kyle and the dogs, Lucy & MayMay(?)😉...we will definitely be returning👍😍 Oh, and the breakfasts were delicious and our rooms were extremely comfortable‼️‼️‼️
Conveniently located within minutes of China Lake. A short drive to Belfast, Rockland, Rockport, Camde. Near the Interconnected Trail System, perfect for sledding, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, and just around the corner from "Go Tubing" a fun snow tubing adventure plus ice skating!
