Great get-away location in Hawaii! Away from the crowds of Waikiki or Hanuama Bay but close enough to visit! Just up the Leeward shore of Oahu past Pearl Harbor, Ko'Olina and the new Disney resort (Aulani). Located on one of the best beaches on the island. Beautiful condominium on the ocean with private Lanai (balcony) with views of the whales and dolphins or you can watch the sea turtles. Great place to watch the sunset, too! Quiet area with Beautiful Pool and Spa.

Fully furnished condo with all the amenities of home. Comfortable condo with murals painted on the walls by a local artist (Elbert East). Close to golfing and right out your door is a great place to go scuba diving or snorkeling. Visit Diamond Head, Honolulu Zoo, Polynesian Cultural Center, Sea Life Park, Dole Pineapple Plantation or just relax and watch the surfers. Great place for a family vacation with a beautiful beach and relaxing atmosphere.

Beach is usually more children friendly during the Spring and summer months with smaller waves. Fall and Winter months have higher surf.

Our family has always enjoyed staying in Hawaii and we love the ocean! We decided that this is where we would like to retire. We bought our place in Makaha so that some day we can spend all our time here - in the meantime, we rent it out so that others can enjoy the beautiful beach and all the amenities that the Hawaiian Princess has to offer. I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do! Aloha!

What makes this condo unique

You can watch the spinner dolphins frolick just off the point of Mt. Lahi and watch the whales and turtles from the lanai. We have a beautiful beach with local artists painting and drawing the beautiful scenery. You can buy it direct from them instead of picking it up at the expensive shops in Waikiki. The beach is not crowded and it is a great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city! Relax and Unwind!

Waianae Plus Super Nice place

From the moment you step off the elevator you realize paradise is yours for the taking. What a view! What a fun place to enjoy the sun, the sand, the surf, and all the mysteries of Oahu.

You may have to drive a little to get to the bigger attractions but it is a small price to pay for sitting in paradise instead of the overpriced, overcrowded and totally overrated high rises of Honolulu hotels. The condo itself is plenty big enough for two adults and two children. Anything more would be a crowd. All of the expected amenities plus just the right toys (snorkel gear, noodles, boogie boards, etc ) that kids need to be kids. Clean, immaculate and just darn right wonderful place. Would go again and stay in a second.

We try to make it comfortable and keep it up to date with items you might need during your stay. We came in right after you left and put in new carpet in the living room and did some other upgrades - we hope that you will come back again and stay at our place! We love our beach also and especially during the spring/summer and fall! The weather is great and the waves are usually not too large so you can enjoy yourself while snorkeling or swimming or boogie boarding. If you want to find great deals on airfare to Hawaii, then May and September/October are the months for you. We are a little off the beaten path but isn't that why people come to Hawaii? If you want the hustle and bustle of the city and night life, this is NOT the place for you! If you want to see the stars and hear the ocean at night, stroll on the beach in the moonlight or drink your coffee while you sip your coffee and watch the turtles in the shallows, If you want to see the local artist painting on the beach in the mornings and hear people blow the conch shells at sunset and relax on the beach and in the surf during the day - then the Hawaiian Princess is the place for you! We have lots of aquatic life to watch from the spinner dolphins and sea turtles to the fish and octopus that you can see in our bay with just a snorkel and mask. During the winter months, you can sometimes even catch a whale swimming past. Come see for yourself!

Private beach... lovely condo

This was a lovely, secure, well equipped condo. The beach was beautiful...very private. We get up early and, at times, we were the only ones on the beach. The sand was soft and clean. We saw the turtles in the water every morning and the whales put on a show for us, breaching right out of the water. My only complaint is the surrounding area. It seems a very poor area and we took a drive around and there was junk on the side of the road... discarded cars, mattresses, sofas,etc. There were no nice restaurants in the area... lots of fast food... way too much. We asked the locals where to eat, so we went to some of the local restaurants, but if you want a really nice dining restaurant, you have to drive to Pearl Harbour/ Honolulu area. I guess you might call it an up and coming area...perhaps in a few years there will be the population to support better shopping and dining.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to see all the beauty that is Hawaii with the wonderful beach and the wildlife that is everywhere. We are sorry that you were not able to enjoy all the wonderful food from the islands as there are many great restaurants that are nearby. We are only about 10 miles from K'Olina where the Disney and Marriott Hotels are located. There are great restaurants inside the hotels (some offer buffet style meals) as well as a 5 Star Roy's restaurant nearby. There is also the MonkeyPod Kitchen, Noe Italian, AMA ama, Makahiki and many more! Then just another 2 miles away from K'Olina is a town called Kapolei and they have many restaurants there including Outback Steakhouse, Chilis, Ruby Tuesday, Mina's Fish House, Ulu Cafe, and one of our Favorites Da Crawfish and Crab Shack. There is Assaggio Italian, Eating House 1849, and Many More.Kapolei has a water park and movie theater and many different shopping centers. In town we like to go to the Spicy House that is right near the Long's Drug store. Our condo is not in the best area on the island, but the people are very warm and friendly and if you ask, they will tell you about their favorite place nearby that has the best food! If you ask any of the locals, we are on the best beach on the island! We decided we would rather wake up and be on the best beach and travel a little for good food than have great food nearby and have to travel for a nice beach. We have a book in the drawer of the stereo cabinet that should have a list for the next time you are in town so that you can find a nice place in your price range and we do hope that you will come back and try a few of the restaurants that I mentioned. Yelp is always a good source for finding a new place to eat as places come and go all the time. Mahalo!

Anniversary get away

Awesome we celebrated 26 yrs of marriage here. The place was great had everything you need even down to items for the beach. The facility was clean and the staff were always helpful. Look fwd to returning.

Million dollar view!

What a wonderful place to stay. The beach is directly below you and you could spend all day on your lanai watching the turtles, waves, boats passing by, snorkel lets, whales spouting and breaching, people climbing Lahilahi (recommend doing it at least once), kids (little and big) playing in the water having the time of their lives! Of course, you will want to the same but it is nice to feel like you are at the beach while having all the comforts of home. 505 is well equipped and it will feel like home right away. We loved walking on our beach every day, watch out for waves that come up unexpectedly high at times. The waves can be big at times but there are always breaks to get in and out if you don't like them. Lots of good beaches around if you want calmer water. Makaha just two minutes up the road has good snorkelling, a lifeguard and shade parking. There is a great hike/walk up north on the point that we really enjoyed. We also went on a boat tour EO out of Waianae Harbour just 3-4 minutes south of here. Swam with dolphins, turtles and lots of fish, tried paddleboarding, kayaking. Great crew and lots of fun to be on the boat. Since the traffic can be crazy at times, I would try explore the west side and not venture too far too often. Good restaurants we liked close to home: Spicy House, Kahumana Farm and Cafe, Coquitos, and Crawfish shack. There were lots of other ones that we heard good things about but we also liked grilling our own dinner, too. The bbqs were cleaned every morning. The grounds and pool were all tidy everyday. The elevators were fast and staff helpful. This place and area is not for those that like high end shopping, dining, hotels, etc. But then you are paying a fraction of what you would at one of those places and have crowds. Our beach and the others around were never too busy. There is a good Farmers Market behind Starbucks in Waianae on Satrudays, 8-12. There is a Longs and a good super market in town. Matt and Jody are quick to respond if you have any concerns or questions. We hope to come back and plan to recommend this place to friends and family back home. Lots of the people we met here are regulars and we can see why. Yes, there are homeless people here but everyone we encountered was friendly and we always felt safe.

Owner's Response: Thanks for all the great feedback and info on some of the local restaurants! It's always good to know about new places. We love the "local" feel of The Hawaiian Princess and the fact that it is not he tourist part of Oahu. You can talk with locals who grew up on our beach and learn about the culture and secret spots that they don't want the tourists to know about. We do love that It is close to the harbor for the dolphin tours, etc. that way you don't have to go to Honolulu just to participate in some of the sightseeing tours but like you said you can also sit on the lanai and watch the whales and turtles and other sea life! We try to keep the unit stocked with gear that you might need for the beach as well as things to make you more comfortable for your stay. Since we have families that come for the holidays, we have large roasting pans and cooking tools to make it easy to stay in and cook and not have to pay high prices to eat out - but since we are not in Honolulu, many of the restaurants are reasonably priced and there are 5 Star restaurants nearby at Ko'Olina (about 10 miles away). We are so happy that you had a great time at our place and we hope that you will come back again soon! Mahalo Matt & Jody

West side paradise

My wife and I spent a wonderful 8 nights at the Hawaiian Princess. The beach and property are exactly as advertised. The condo was well equipped and the owner responded quickly to our inquiries. The condo could use some updates but was still comfortable.

Owner knew of construction, but didn't tell us

We reserved this property in June for October. At that time there was no mention of construction on the property. When we arrived we were shocked to see half the building was undergoing construction which affected access to the pool area and resulted in the barbq area being closed.

The loud noise during the weekdays made it impossible to peacefully enjoy our vacation in the condo every weekday from 0800-1600.

The onsite property management did not understand why the owner didn't tell us about the construction, because they said it had been going on since spring and everyone knew it would be going on well into November.

When revisiting the website for this property upon arrival we saw construction was now mentioned and a reduced rate was being offered during this rental period.

The condo building and location is nice, but be wary of renting from this particular owner. Based on our experience I would not trust them. We were told our damage deposit check was mailed back to us, but we never received it. They offered to pay us for the stop fee charge if we showed them proof of the cost, but I am not going to show them a copy of our bank statement. They also did not respond to our question about the unit just prior to us leaving. These are smaller issues, but the failure to tell us about the construction is a major issue which shows a lack of concern for their customers. If things work out for you, you are lucky and in no way is this owner responsible for your good fortune.
