About the property

Villa, 6 Air Conditioned Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 6 Baths, (Sleeps 8-16)

Welcome to our Manuel Antonio home, a fully-staffed, 6-bedroom, 6-bath luxury Villa and Guest House in an unusually private and beautiful setting bordering the 50-meter Maritime Protection Zone. The Villa and Guest House are perched high above the Pacific, with ever present sea breezes and sounds of surf crashing below. Our beach (Playa la Macha), which is usually deserted, is a 15-minute hike from the Villa. Ours is the only residence in Manuel Antonio with a cove all to itself and one of the few close enough to the water to hear the surf crashing against the rocks.

The views of the ocean and sunset from the Villa are breathtaking. Wildlife and tropical flowers abound on our property and in the surrounding rainforest. Monkeys, countless birds, and an occasional sloth are regular visitors to nearby trees and are easily spotted from the Villa or our terraces and swimming pool.

The house is of the finest construction in teak, cedar, almond, and terra cotta, all sited in beautiful landscaped grounds. Each bedroom has a view, a king bed and it's own bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have their own living areas, in addition to the bright and breezy main living space.

Villa La Macha is located in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful coastal areas, Quepos and Manuel Antonio. An almost endless string of secluded coves and tropical beaches and the charming, well-supplied town of Quepos are minutes away. Five miles down the road is a jewel of this ecologically sensitive country, Manuel Antonio National Park. The waters offshore offer some of the best marlin and sailfish sport fishing in the world. Villa La Macha is handsomely furnished in teak furniture and original artworks and provides a beautiful home for families, small wedding parties, and groups of friends to share.

We have added all the amenities you could want for a perfect vacation, including fine sheets, towels and china, our favorite spa shampoos and soaps, a I Bose Wave stereo, Satellite TV, Wi-Fi and high speed internet, two phone lines, a library of 150 of our favorite books, and a booklet recommending for our guests our favorite restaurants, beaches, masseuses, fishing charters, white water river trips, surf spots, surf instructors, zip lines, hikes, nightspots, spanish tutors, and nannies. Amazing experience in Paradise!!

  • 5 of 5

My family just spent the most wonderful vacation at this home in Manuel Antonio. The setting is exactly what is shown and described and exceeded our expectations. So much room and so many beautiful views. The pool area was large and there were views of the ocean on the sunbathing side. The beach below the house is beautiful and the younger people in the group used it but all of us enjoyed the beaches in Manuel Antonio which are just a few miles away which are the best in Costa Rica. The kids boogie boarded and rode horses on the beach. The shops and restaurants are right across the street so you can go to lunch and return to your chairs. We went snorkeling which was not the best but the zip lining was a real adventure!! No need to go to the Rainforest since you are in one at home. Monkeys did come to visit and there was a Sloth in the tree by the house. We did have rain the last day and crabs were all coming up from the beach. They were small but that was eery but normal. The best part was having our own staff! Jota arranged each day and went to the store to get what we needed. We learned a lot about the country and the culture from him. My grand daughter got an ear infection and he contacted a doctor and we were able to get her medicine. The house was sooo clean and the ladies kept it that way and washed our clothes if we wanted it. We mainly lived in bathing suits and cover ups so we brought way too many clothes and used a lot of towels. The meals were delicious and food was abundant!! We ate on the veranda that overlooked the ocean and celebrated two Birthdays and Easter in this ambiance. There were only ten of us and we plan to go again and bring more people. Definitely room for 14! This was definitely a bargain in paradise and the staff were rewarded well by our family!!

Stunning views

  • 5 of 5

This house is not only spacious but beautiful....... the views are amazing and the wildlife surrounds. We had two sloths in our trees, monkeys that visited as well as toucans and two Scarlett McCall's that flew by every day. Jota, the house manager was wonderful. He arranged tours for us and they were all fantastic! Katia and Carmen are wonderful cooks and our meals were outstanding! The house was clean everyday and clothes were washed ....!!! We were a family of 5, three boys and us parents ! The guys are 22,17 and 13 and they had as much fun as we did. The pool is large and lovely to float around in. Yes , the beach has somewhat of a little hike but it was fun to do it. The beach was nice because there were very few people there so it was almost like having a private beach. I can not say enough about this house . Rarely do I repeat a action and stay in the same house but this is one that definitely would go back to! The people all around were friendly and we felt safe at all times . If your even considering going to this part of Costa Rica , I heavily recommend staying at this house . I can't imagine anyone ever being disappointed ...

Great girl trip

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful villa, beautiful setting. Jota, the property caretaker and his wife and mom were fabulous. Kept the place spotless, cooked great meals and helped us arrange tours and an on property massage.

We saw loads of wildlife here at the villa. 2 resident sloths, one 2 toe and one 3 toe. 2 Scarlett macaws that flew over twice a day. Toucans. One toucan came up to a palm by the pool to eat fruit. Crabs, racoon, iguanas. We counted several species of birds.

The pictures of the property do not do it justice. One of our best girl trips away.

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed this magnificent villa with a group of six couples (March 2017). Spectacular sunsets, delicious and healthy meals, immaculate rooms, abundant wildlife. The property manager was very friendly and helpful. The place exceeded all of our expectations. You want to be in relatively good shape for the hike to the ocean, but it was well worth it!

Better than the pictures - wonderful and georgeous

  • 5 of 5

First time we did a larger family vacation with us as grandparents. We got the master bedroom which was wonderful - particularly the bathroom with the hottub open to the outdoors. OK, we shared it with the kids and grandkids. The house is a fabulous property with the sunsets providing a different show every evening. Monkeys and iguanas and macaws daily. Jota, our concierge was lovely and helpful. Hi wife Katia and Carmen took care of the cookig and clean up and we got laundry done daily! That was a vacation. we probably ate 50 lbs of guac. We were 10 which was perfect for the location. we could have managed another 2 people in the one bedroom we didn't use but more than that would be crowded sleeping wise. The hike to the beach is a little treacherous - very steep and rocky and I wouldn't recommend it for young kids or older folks. However 4 of us adults (and one 11 year old) did it twice and it was spectacular. Would go back tomorrow.

Unforgettable Experience!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Villa La Macha December 2-9th, 2016. It was paradise! There were 9 adult family members/friends and plenty of space to hang out together or have some alone time. Every day we would wake up to a wonderful breakfast being made. Jota and his wife and mom arrived at 8am and started preparing breakfast and any other meal we wanted to have that day. They went grocery shopping for us and made several special trips. Jota really went out of his way to make us all feel pampered. He arranged last minute tours and made sure we got good deals. We went down the trail to Playa La Macha several times during the trip. The hike back up the hill is a bit tiring, but the sandy beach and perfect waves made it well worth it. At the house, we had dinner every night on the porch overlooking the water. The food was so delicious and healthy. Fresh guacamole every day made for a special treat. I have stayed at many VRBO's but this was the absolute best experience and we all want to go back soon. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience! Oh, and you will love the monkey's in the yard....it's like your own national park!

Gracias!
