Just Perfect

My boyfriend and I spent a few days here. The cottage had everything we needed and Santa Cruz had the slow, easygoing vibe we sought to relax. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

Love, love, love this place. It's cozy and warm and very inviting. If you were in need of anything, it had it. Close to the beach and lighthouse. And a short drive to the Boardwalk which we discovered. This will definitely be one of our private get away spots for many years to come.

Magic retreat

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Watercolor on a business trip to Silicon Valley. The pressure cooker of modern society that we live in gradually increases in pressure every year at a rate that we may not take note of like we would if there was a sudden spike. Every year there is more traffic, housing costs more, there are more rules, laws, and regulations. There are less parking spots, more people at the park, beach, and nature trails. We work harder and are repaid with more stress and higher blood pressure just to keep the same "quality of life". The Watercolor Cottage is an anomoly transcending time and space. Somehow accessible from the present, passing thru the door takes you to a time and place where everything is simpler. Time slows down, it is quieter, and there is an immediate relief of pressure. The size may look small on paper, but it is actually one if its best features. Just enough space for everything needed without the weight and cold lifelessness of modern construction. Reminisent of a warm safe hug from mom when you were a child that made everything ok. It is not just a great physical location to walk to the beach and to enjoy Santa Cruz, but is a location that has a view of your own life from a perspective that illuminates what is really important.

Stayed here for our wedding, it was amazing!

LOVED staying here. We eloped in Henry Cowell State Park and spent the week staying in Santa Cruz. The cottage is adorable, just like the pics! You can walk to the beach from the cottage, and watch the surfers (favorite part of the trip!) It's close enough to the boardwalk area, but the neighborhood is far enough away where it is quiet. The garden and cottage are beautiful, we had many of our wedding pictures taken there. Absolutely loved staying there, and would definitely stay again!

The Watercolour Cottage was the PERFECT vacation rental for our stay in Santa Cruz! Having grown up in Santa Cruz, I knew in advance that the location was ideal for travelers and jumped at the chance to snag this gem for the week. The pictures definitely don't do it justice, the home is absolutely charming and well-equipped for a comfortable stay. My husband and I were traveling with our two boys, a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old. The house was perfect for them, with a great backyard and garden for them to "discover" things. My nature-loving 3 year old was excited to return every afternoon to "the house that is so cute!" (his words:)). The owners were very friendly and helpful, and made sure that I was comfortable contacting them should the need arise. They have really put some thought into utilizing the space of the house to ensure that all comforts are met and you don't feel "cramped". I highly recommend a stay here while in Santa Cruz, you won't regret it!

Owner's Response: Our Wi-Fi internet provider Cruzio has never been an issue for any of our past guests, we are sorry to hear you were having problems on your device. Cellular Verizon provides the best reception for mobile phones and every AT&T has limited capacity in this neighborhood of Santa Cruz. Thank you for your cheerful review and so happy to hear you enjoyed relaxing time in Watercolour Cottage's garden patio. Cheers! Denise & Glenn
