Great Apartment in Leith
We enjoyed our stay in this great apartment, just a block over from Leith Walk, and a short easy walk to the Royal Mile. Spacious rooms and bathrooms, fantastic kitchen and everything we could have needed. The beds were comfortable with quality linens. Ben provided clear instructions for a self check in. We look forward to returning on our next trip to Edinburgh!
Great flat in a good location
The flat is lovely, spacious and clean and very conveniently located. Our hosts were warm, welcoming and helpful. Our only challenge was, when we arrived at the flat we couldn't access it initially as the code to the lock box containing the keys had been posted incorrectly on the VRBO website. However, when advised of the situation, our hosts were very apologetic and responded immediately by giving us the correct code.
Superb Property in Central Edinburgh
We (a family of three) had one overnight stay in this property. It is very clean, comfortable & well-equipped. The flat is spacious, yet has a very traditional feel, which I liked. The area is residential & quiet. We were entertained by grey squirrels (which I actually consider to be vermin! I'm a red squirrel fan!) running along the top of the wall, outside of the kitchen window. Being in Leith, it's close to every sort of amenity you might want - good restaurants, theatres, bars, cinemas & pubs. Fans of Rebus will appreciate the proximity to Gayfield Square police HQ. Parking is free outside the property & Kay's Cabs are quick & reliable transport to locations not within walking distance - like Mother India Cafe in Infirmary Street, where the food is just divine. The flat is about 1.5 miles from Holyrood & the Scottish Parliament - worth a visit. Getting back to the accomodation, the beds were super-comfortable, and we had a great nights sleep. Avoid Hemma on Holyrood Road for brunch, as it's sub-standard & mega-expensive!
We LOVED the flat. It was pretty and well appointed.
...however, the master bathroom was very inefficient. The neighborhood was clearly one in transition. Our hosts were very attentive and helpful.
Thanks for the review - we are glad you liked the flat.
We're always looking to improve the place - but unsure what is meant by an inefficient bathroom. The master bedroom is large with an en-suite shower and toilet and walk-in wardrobe.
The neighbourhood, Leith Walk, is certainly getting more and more exciting. It's now considered to be the most exciting part of Edinburgh. There are literally hundreds of independent coffee shops and restaurants including some of the best in Edinburgh.
There is free parking directly outside the apartment.
Uber is in Edinburgh is can be used to get from the Airport or anywhere central to our apartment. From the airport it costs around £20. From Waverley Train Station it's around £5 - it is quickest and cheapest if you can order the Uber from the Carlton Road Exit. Uber is often cheaper and faster than public transport, especially if there are 2 or more of you.
By Public Transport:
From Edinburgh Airport:
Jump on the tram (£6) to York Place (last stop). From York Place you can walk in around 20mins or catch Bus Number 12, 16, 22 or 25 to Pilrig Street - on Leith Walk (Bus Cost: £1.70 - no change given).
Cheaper and more direct - but taking longer overall - you can also catch the Skylink 300 Airport Bus from Stance F at the Airport (£4.50) to Dalmeny Street - on Easter Road - which is a 2 minute walk to our apartment - but takes a the a long and slow route (90mins).
From Waverley Train Station:
You can walk to the apartment in around 20mins. The fastest way is to leave the station via the Carlton Road Exit and turn left up Carlton Road onto Leith Street where you turn right - keep going straight and Leith Street becomes Leith Walk. Follow Leith Walk until you reach "Your Move" on your right, an obvious green branded estate agent on the corner of Dalmeny Street. Turn right onto Dalmeny Street and take the next left onto Sloan Street. Follow the check-in instructions to gain access.
If you have heavy bags or don't fancy the walk you should leave the station towards Princess Street and jump on Bus Number 1 to Dalmeny Street - on Easter Road (Bus cost: £1.70 - no change given) which is then only a couple of minutes walk to our apartment. For bus timetables/walking directions please use Google Maps or the Lothian Buses Website.
