I recently installed a fish cleaning station, two (2) docks, and outside cold water shower. You must come and go with the tides, if you are tying your boat to the dock. This community is located 18 miles off of Hwy 19 and specializes in fishing, boating, kayaking, etc. There is a full service Marina and Restaurant that are a must to see and experience! Two (2) public boat ramps for your convenience, as well. Weekly - $1,500 (Non-Scallop Season); Weekend - $750 (Friday at 4 PM to Sunday at 11 AM); Nightly - $250. Cleaning Fees - $100. Security Deposit Nightmare, Misleading Advertising
Nice house BUT.....
1) House does not sleep 12 - there are only 2 beds, and a futon, the rest are blow up mattresses. They did not hold air - one had a duct tape patch on it. Now the owner is threatening us to pay for the damages that we did not cause.
2) The toilets do not flush properly. The owner knew this along with the caretaker (who warned us as such). Now the owner wants to blame us for a toilet that would not flush after multiple tries.
3) The hot tub was cloudy with slimy film on the surface and the owner told us we were not allowed to drain and refill it. We were not able to use it during our stay.
4) The owner is also blaming us for a light switch that does not work, it is not broken it just doesn't work. How could this possibly be our fault?
5) The contract states to remove all trash which we did except for a small trash basket with practically nothing in it and is now charging us a huge fee.
6) The air conditioning system does not keep the downstairs cool. Luckily we read the previous reviews and brought our own fans.
It is now 10 days since we rented the house and our issues are not addressed. We called multiple times and owner does not answer the phone and claims she did not receive any of my emails. We have rented dozens of houses over many years of scalloping and have never caused any damage to anyone's property and always receive 100% of our deposit money back. This has been a complete nightmare and do not expect to hear from the owner or get our deposit back. The owner has proven to be very difficult to deal with and we would never recommend renting this property.
If you respect my property, you will receive respect. Anyone who leaves a toilet bowl full of feces has issues. I have photos/videos. The beds are indicated and available for use . . . 1 King Bed, 1 Queen Bed, 2 Fold down Twin Couches, 2 Automatic Blow-up Queen Mattresses, 2 Single Blow-up Mattresses. Phone calls were never received during their stay. They are only jumping on the coattails of the other disrespectful guests. And, they received their deposit after the broken light switch, trash left, and toilet bowl full of feces!. I should have kept it all!!! The human race is getting worse!!! P.S.. I have repeat customers so that speaks for itself!
Beautiful property both inside and out!
Our family had an amazing vacation in Horseshoe Beach! The house we stayed in was beautiful! It was spacious and emaculant! The pool and hot tub were fantastic! The sunsets were incredible! This property exceeded all of our expectations. We really had such an enjoyable and relaxing vacation! We all hope to come back again 😊�
We've stayed at VRBO rentals 2 to 3 times per year, have never posted a negative review, had a negative review, or had any portion of our security deposit withheld. Alas, that streak has ended.
Don't rent this house for your boating holiday. We have been to Horseshoe scalloping for 5 years, and are well aware of the tides. We were assured that this house was as accessible as others. Untrue - expect to have your boat high & dry 10 hours out of every 24 (ours is a very shallow draft flats boat). We had to mostly trailer the boat & wait at the public ramp even though we rented property advertised as waterfront with “2 docks.” Instead, we enjoyed the same boating amenities as the RV guy staying at the boat ramp.
Beware (especially if you have children) there is an upstairs sliding glass door that leads directly out onto the slanted roof.
The house is on septic & despite being very careful, we spent more time plunging the upstairs toilet than having useable access to our boat from the property.
Don't stay here until the HVAC is replaced. The temperature in the house never dropped below 80 during the day. If you can tolerate the heat, relax & enjoy the 21" TV in the living room (the only 1 in the house).
Pros: the pool is cool (but closed off without a view), the washer/dryer works well.
Finally, Paula confiscated our entire deposit falsely claiming we had more than 12 people staying on property. We had two families of 5 plus 1 single friend who joined us for 3 days. Yet, bc it was too hot to sleep at our place, 4 of us slept nightly at 3 BR condo rented by grandparents (for 1/3 the price of this house). Paula didn't verify a headcount, call us, or ask us at checkout, she just kept our deposit. On departure day she showed up and announced "it's 11:02, you're late, checkout time is 11:00!" & then charged us $100 bc we got pushed out the door before emptying the last trashcan.
We fully expect a vicious response as Paula screamed over the phone that she would "bury us" if we posted a negative review.
Ask yourself is it worth the hassle?
Can't use the boating facilities.
House never cools
Constant plunging of toilet.
Consider the security deposit part of rental costs.
Don't inadvertently leave anything. It won't be returned, Paula won’t tell you what you left, & you'll be charged for leaving it.
You must buy insurance but be charged for items such as a broken 3” starfish (we replaced it).
There are better options in Horseshoe.

They have lied from the beginning, and I know you can see right through it! They are angry because they don't think they should pay for ripped pool screens, broken trash cans and kitchen chairs, ruined placemats, trash left, etc. I have bedding to accommodate 12 people. They had four (4) extra blow-up mattresses in the house? When I arrived at the house, there were 10 teenagers standing outside with only two (2) adults left. The adult who made the reservation wasn't even there? I have plenty of witnesses living in Horseshoe Beach that can attest to more than 12 people staying at the location. Their original reservation of which I based my decision on said, "6 Adults!". Anyone wanting further factual information and/or photos of their destruction, please contact me :) If you treat my property with respect, you will not have any problems :) I take very good care of my property and will not let ANYONE treat it with disrespect! Sorry you had to witness their rant, but it's the cost of doing business with people who think they can make the rules as they see fit :) P.S. Guess how many times they called my number with a problem? One time and it was because they had the refrigerator so packed that the air wasn't circulating and they thought it wasn't working! The maintenance man was called immediately and they were advised accordingly! All of these named problems, but not one phone call about any of them. As a matter of fact, when they left, they said, "We had a great time!" It was only after the deposit was retained that they changed their mind! #pitiful #immature #nothingworsethanaliar
The property was really pretty.
The house is nice size, but the two downstairs room are very small. There was NO AC. It was miserably hot. The owner was so particular on how her house was treated but she didn't seemed concerned that we had no air for 3 days. Also the downstairs shower smelled like a awful. Like a sewer. Very disappoint because the house size and location is great.
The two downstairs bedrooms are perfectly sized for a bedroom. One, holds a Queen bed, side table, a long dresser with mirror, and a double doored cedar closet. The other holds two fold down single couches, a dresser, two end tables, and a closet holding additional bedding and pillows. Please note, there are two (2) A/C units for the house. One is for upstairs only and the other for the downstairs. The home is 2,600 sq ft. I assure you that it has adequate A/C. I actually lived in the house for two years prior to renting it last year. Unfortunately, for lack of knowledge, one of their friends arrived before them and turned the A/C unit down to 69 degrees. It was 85 degrees in the house, as that's the temperature I keep it on when no one is in it. The outside temperature was 95 degrees. Plain and simple . . . THEY FROZE THE LINE! Now, anyone who rents receives emails ahead of time for paperwork that needs to be signed and returned. Included in the paperwork that is signed and returned states, "IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OR QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL XXX-XXX-XXXX OR XXX-XXX-XXXX," BUT THEY NEVER CALLED? Three (3) days they say they went without air and THEY NEVER CALLED? Their rental was less than 2 days. I happen to be driving from Florida to Arkansas to Texas during their stay, so I did not receive their EMAIL until late on the second night of their stay. The very next day my maintenance man came over and found only the A/C fan running. I called my A/C man to find out what happened. He said that they froze the line by turning down the temperature too fast. He said when it's that hot, you have to ease it down by five (5) degree increments. The A/C man came out and checked the system. He found nothing to be wrong! It has worked ever since, as far as I am aware. I actually clean the rental, so I am here checking on things after each rental. The smell in the shower was directly related to the A/C line being frozen. Jessica's husband called me to request a partIal refund due to the A/C. I told him, "No!" I explained that his friend turned down the A/C too fast and that was the reason that they didn't have air. I also asked him why no one called me??? It could have been addressed the very same day. Not sure what they mean when they said, "The owner was so particular on how her house was treated . . . ?" Makes no sense, as there wasn't any other issues until now. Like I always say, "God knows the truth!" #youwillreapwhat yousow #Amen

The Horseshoe Marina has all of your marina needs, including food, beverages (wine/beer), lottery, rentals of kayaks/golf carts, etc. There's also a library in town for avid readers.

You authorize us to charge a $300 fine for pets that are brought without being permitted, as well as a $300 fine for having more than twelve (12) people staying in the rental.
