Why Charilaos Tzannetakis chose Athens City Centre
Next to Bebop are the classical antiquities which together with the remnants of the roman period, the parks, the hills the gardens next to Acropolis form a park of 70 hectares. Bebop is in center of this park. Bebop is in the proximity of the commercial, cultural and business center of Athens. You can walk there. It is close to the parliament, the presidential palace and the governmental buildings. With the metro you have an easy access to all neighbourhoods and thus you can feel changes and trasformations occuring throughout the recent years. Bebop is ideal for the traveler who wants to explore and understand the city and intends to spent one week - ten days in Athens.

Great host; super location; felt like home!
Our three-day, three-night stay in Athens couldn’t have been more perfect, thanks to our generous and informative host, Charilaos! He gave us an insider’s guide to this amazing city and culture, from authentic food and neighborhoods, to the magical hike in the hills of Athens. The house was perfect for our grown-up family of five, giving us lots of family time in the big, friendly, well-equipped modern kitchen and comfortable living room, but also spaces to be alone in well-appointed bedrooms and the lovely, intimate courtyard. You are steps away from a pedestrian thoroughfare that takes you to the Acropolis and the incredible Acropolis Museum in just minutes; more ambitious walkers will find other vibrant neighborhoods and museums easily. But the best part of Bebop is Charilaos himself. We feel we have a new friend in Athens! Thank you so much!
Really enjoyed our first trip to Athens! The house was perfect as well as the host.
Elegant oasis in the Plaka
What an elegant, and spacious apartment. Charalios was a very gracious host, with the home very well appointed (including personally made olive oil and olives). Sadly, we accidentally left some of the preserved olives. Hopefully, we can return in the future and retrieve them. A well situated home steps away from the Acropolis, and tourist attractions. highly recommended.
William, Sandra and Alessandra, gentle and polite family, are ideal guests. Open to new experiences are able to enjoy walks in the city, calmness, tastes, information about the past and the present. I am honoured that they liked Bebop.
I wish they come again and again in the future.
Bebop is located in Plaka, the old town around Acropolis, in the center of Athens. Plaka is full of remnants from the classical antiquity, the roman, byzantine and othoman era and houses of the 19th and early 20th century.
Saint Catherine's byzantine church of the 11th century is in a distance of 300 meters from Bebop and Saint Nicholas of Ragava with its excellent proportions in another 500 meters.
In Plaka there is a number of thematic museums. When visiting the museum of folk art "Angeliki Hadjimichali", 800 meters from Bebop, you get an idea of the Athenian eclectic architecture of the 1930's. The museum of musical instruments is in a typical athenian house of the 18th century. On Adrianou street 96, 15 minutes walk from Bebop, is the oldest athenian house - of the othoman era - restored and recently opened to the public. All these are houses developed around an internal courtyard, to secure privacy and keep noises outside. The same as Bebop. This is one more reason that makes Bebop a living experience and a traveller's destination by itself.
The "Athens Lawn Tennis and Squash Club" is within 5 minutes walk distance east of Bebop. Non members are welcomed.
The hills with the many names, are in a distance of 1500 meters, to the west of Bebop. The Hill of Pnyx, of Filopappou, of the Nymphes and the Muses cover a surface of 70 hectares. Discover the hills. You will meet people practicing yoga and tai chi. There are rocky cliffs suitable for sport climbing. To visit the hills is an advise to all guests of Bebop. The vegetation, the birds, the view to the sea, to Akropolis, to the city, to the mountains around the city. The colors of the sky before and right after the sunset. If there is moon walk on the hills before going out to Koukaki, to visit the small cafe, bars and restaurants. The day in Plaka, the sunset on the hills, the evening in Koukaki.
The Synagogue of Athens - Beth Shalom Synagogue - is 20 minutes walk from Bebop and next to it the archeological site of Ceramico with the still flowing "Iridanos" river. The Observatory of Athens is about 1000 meters from Bebop.
This is the idyllic part of Athens. From Bebop you have an easy access to the real life of the city in today's hard times of austerity. The metro station "Akropolis" is in a distance of 200 meters from Bebop. Take the metro to "Syntagma" station and then walk through Stadiou street to Omonia square and then Agiou Constantinou street. It is worth spending a few minutes in front of the National Theater. Walk in the streets behind the theater to the metro station "Platia Attikis" and get a first impression of the impact of the economic crisis on the city life.
