Located in a gated enclave of nine luxury homes, Casa Grande is a secure retreat, just minutes from the activity of downtown San Miguel. This luxurious property has 4 one-bedroom casitas and a separate private residence that has 3 bedrooms.

Each casita has its own private keyless entry with intercom for visiting guests. All casitas are equipped with kitchens, bathrooms, fireplaces, balconies, boveda ceilings, king size beds with luxurious bedding, heated mattress pads with dual controls, Samsung Smart TVs, marble flooring, granite countertops and private patios. The casitas were designed and built based on the luxury suites at the popular Rosewood Hotel in San Miguel; named the Best Hotel in Mexico in 2015.

The Bougainvillea suite is 420 sq. ft. of charming construction. It is a one bedroom suite complete with a king size bed, a gorgeous marble bathroom with tub and rain shower , gas heater and ceiling fan. The suite includes a private, enclosed covered patio with extra large chaise lounger for an extra guest, mini kitchen, sliding glass patio doors and windows allowing indoor/outdoor living. The Bougainvillea suite can be accessed through private entrances either from the main 3-bedroom residence or from the casita level. It serves as an overflow king size suite for stays at the 3 bedroom residence or as a stand alone casita with a private entrance.

All casitas and the Bougainville suite share access to a spectacular 3000 sq. ft. rooftop garden with uninterrupted views of the city including the famous Parroquia in one direction and the San Antonio Church in another. The rooftop includes (all under cover) a full gourmet kitchen complete with GE Profile appliances (refrigerator, gas fired stove top, oven, dishwasher, microwave and two sinks both with garbage disposals), a professionally-designed as-fired wood burning pizza oven, a circular bar with 10 custom made leather-padded bar chairs, a hot tub for ten people, and a full bathroom complete with glass topped shower. All counter tops are granite, cabinetry is mesquite wood curved to match the curved granite bar and the entire roof has slate tile flooring.

Casa Grande is located in one of San Miguels most distinguished, gated communities and close to popular walking areas; 0.4 miles from Parque Juarez, 0.5 miles from the world famous Instituto Allende and 0.7 miles from the Parroquia and El Jardin (the town square), both are the center of the city. The walk to these areas is gently downhill (you can walk home or a taxi is $3 USD from anywhere in town).

The home includes four additional items of importance:

 Purified, pressurized water treatment systems so that there are no problems with drinking the water or having adequate water pressure to all users.

 Internet and TV access. Because all homes and hotels in SMA are built with stone and brick walls, such services can be spotty at best. To alleviate such problems, we have installed hard wire to each room and then broadcast Wi-Fi from that point forward in each room.

 48” Samsung Smart TVs are provided to keep you tuned to your favorite streaming sites

be it Netflix, YouTube or other providers.

 A monitored burglar alarm and perimeter security cameras are provided for your peace of mind.

All rooms include ceiling fans and gas fireplaces. A laundry room with full size washer and dryer is located on the casita level for guest use. Maid service is provided twice per week; additional service can be arranged at extra charge subject to maid availability. Additionally, a US Vonage phone is available so you can call anywhere in the world free of charge…and your friends and family can reach you, too, free of charge.

As an added benefit, Lawnie and Michelle Sturdevant (the owners) live in a separate house located next door and are available at any time to answer your needs.

Lawnie & I (Michelle) lived and worked in Houston, Texas for many years. In 2014, we bought a vacation home in San Miguel and built an additional home on the adjacent lot next door allowing us to rent this beautiful home and still be accessible to our guests. We are a very social couple who love traveling and meeting new people. We love good restaurants, good wine and spending time entertaining with friends.

We love the weather here in San Miguel and being so accessible to excellent restaurants, art, culture and shopping makes this place hard to beat. We know that you'll have a fantastic time here in what many people call "the magical city of San Miguel." We provide our guests with many amenities including a guide suggesting where to go and what to do. In addition, we can offer an English-speaking and certified guide at his direct cost to show you around the city and surrounding areas whether by foot or car.

The property was wonderful, well done, well appointed, and clean. View from rooftop amazing.

The first room we got was not to our liking and not what we thought we were getting. This was both our mistake (because we read the listing incorrectly) and the owner's mistake. The listing is pretty confusing and probably needs to be rewritten. When we complained that we were not happy with our room, we were given a different room, much nicer, with a kitchen, and what we thought we would be getting. So, the stay ended up being lovely......once we were moved to the room with the kitchen.

Thank you so much for your comments and as a result of your beautiful recommendations, we listened and we made some dramatic changes to this suite. While this was the smallest of all of the casita's, we believe if you should ever have a chance to re-visit San Miguel, you'll be pleasantly surprized to this now gorgeous suite. We have expanded the Bougainvillea casita to 420 sq. ft. of charming construction. It is a one bedroom suite complete with a king size bed with dual controlled heated mattress pads, a gorgeous marble bathroom with tub and rain shower, gas heater and ceiling fan. The suite includes a private, enclosed covered patio with extra-large chaise lounge for an extra guest. A mini kitchen, sliding glass patio doors and windows allowing indoor/outdoor living. The Bougainvillea suite can be accessed through two entrances; from the main 3-bedroom residence (as an overflow space) or from the casita level. Regarding storage, the beds are custom built by a local Artisan carpenter with a Pottery Barn design which means there are drawers on 3 sides of the bed; each drawer being large enough to store the contents of a very large suitcase in each. We can store your luggage in our storage area so while you are here, you can maximize your available space. The newly added kitchenette located on the enclosed and covered patio is not for serious cooking but it does have an under-counter refrigerator, a microwave, 2 burner gas stove top and dishes and utensils, great for drinks and snacks, coffee and breakfast and reheating the inevitable leftovers from the numerous great restaurants nearby. There are several excellent take-out restaurants near-by that are extremely good and very reliable. They include seafood, Chinese (MSG free), Indian, Domino’s Pizza and others that are pretty amazing.
