GENERAL DESCRIPTION - (Children must be a minimum of 8 years old due to the cantilevered deck and steep drop to the creek below)

This recently completed (summer 2016) cabin sits nestled into a hillside among cedar, birch, and larch tree tops - perched above a cascading creek. Lake-Creek Cabin offers a feeling of being away from it all with its private setting (in a rural neighborhood) and yet is convenient to Glacier National Park (West Glacier & North Fork), the airport, restaurants and groceries in Columbia Falls; and to Whitefish, known for its recreational activities, shopping, dining, and nightlife.

The cabin features a single-level, light and airy 1200 sq. ft. open floor plan and sleeps up to four adults or children (age 8 or older – see age restriction below). A large deck with gas grill, dining and sitting areas, cantilevers out to capture views of the forest and creek below – a peaceful setting and the perfect place to enjoy time together and deeply relax. Not the perfect weather to be outside? Enjoy outdoor living nonetheless in the cozy screened porch.

Lake-Creek Cabin is thoughtfully and generously provisioned, including a complete kitchen with new fully-featured appliances, cookware, utensils, and place settings. A pantry of herbs, spices, condiments and food storage supplies are provided for our guests’ convenience.

A high ceiling and windowed wall in the great room bring the outdoors in as a backdrop for enjoying time indoors with comfortable living and dining seating for all. Additional features include a cozy gas fireplace, 48” smart TV with satellite, DVD player, stereo/CD player with Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi, cell signal enhancer, and board games. The cabin's rural location is near the end of the grid - Internet speed can be inadequate for streaming.

Getting a good night’s sleep is a key ingredient for the best vacation days, so we have endeavored to create a most comfortable sleep experience for our guests. With comfortable mattresses, quality sheets, down and synthetic pillows and layered bedding you can get it just right. Open the windows for tranquil sounds of the creek below and cool mountain night air and you have the recipe for a perfect night’s sleep.

The master bedroom suite features a king bed with creek and tree top views and a private full bath (tub/shower). The second bedroom features two twin beds and private wooded views and adjacent bath with roomy shower. Ceiling fans are located in both bedrooms and in the great room for our guests comfort.

For the perfect start to the day, pour a cup of coffee, snuggle in on the screened porch and enjoy a chorus of birdsong. Browse through the resource file to check out the information on Glacier Park, area services, and attractions. Consult the trail guide, other guide books and maps to plan the day’s outing. Packing a picnic lunch is a cinch with a cooler, reusable ice blocks, and picnic dishes available. We provide 3 canisters of bear spray for guest use.

Take care of laundry in the full size washer and dryer with laundry supplies provided. Our guests at Glacier Ridge Cabin (VRBO/HomeAway #594060) tell us how much they appreciate finding everything they need. We have done our best to recreate that experience for our Lake-Creek Cabin guests.

Summer days are long in Montana and offer the opportunity to enjoy evenings outdoors. Walk or drive less than a half mile to the local lake access for a canoe paddle on quiet Spoon Lake. Listen for the loons! Canoe, paddles and life jackets provided for guest use. Or grab the beach towels and hike the forest trail to the secluded swimming beach for a cool dip.

Opportunities for summer recreation out the cabin door include canoeing or swimming at the lake, mountain biking in the back country, biking on the North Fork Road, fishing and rafting on the Flathead River (access only 3.5 miles away). There is so much to enjoy near the cabin that you don’t need to leave, but opportunities abound in the area. A 10 minute scenic shortcut brings you to the West Glacier area and within a few more minutes, to the entrance of Glacier National Park. Or head north and follow the North Fork of the Flathead River to Polebridge (an off-the-grid community) and the quiet northwest access to Glacier National Park.

Easy to find and with good year round access, this is a great home base for hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, paddling, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and downhill skiing, just for starters. The Flathead Valley offers a wealth of theater, music and special community events all year long.

Make coming home something to look forward to after an incredible day of exploring and recreating in Glacier National Park and the Flathead Valley. We have designed and built this secluded feeling, yet convenient hideaway for our guests to relax and enjoy their time together amidst the beauty of nature.

Open year round, we welcome you to Lake-Creek Cabin.

Best VRBO Stay Ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stay in VRBO cabins every summer when we travel. Over the years, we have rented some wonderful places. That said, we've never stayed in a place as nice as this Glacier National Park cabin. The location was ideal. With the national park just to the east and Columbia Falls and Whitefish an easy drive to the west, we couldn't have asked for a more centrally located home base. In addition, Kim and Drew run a beautifully operated facility. In particular, we especially enjoyed the spacious deck, the enormous windows that let in much of the outdoors and the canoe on a lake just five minutes from the cabin. Also, the cabin was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. Overall, this cabin was wonderfully comfortable, a terrific place to relax and unwind after a full day of hiking in the park. This was the sixth VRBO place we've stayed and it was by far the best.

Beautiful cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful spot! This cabin had everything I needed: well furnished, confortable bed, every detail thought through. The view of the trees covered in snow was lovely, and the gas stove in the living room made it very cozy. Kim and Drew we're great to work with. I'd happily stay there again!

Just Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was exactly as described, if not better. It was so comfortable and the owner has thought of everything to make it so. Their love and connection to the area shows and they provide worlds of information to help with trails and all local areas to visit. It was quiet and private but still yet close enough to the park and to town. We have used VRBO for several vacations and trips and this is possible my favorite cabin we have rented! Would definitely stay here again and hope too!

Piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

I felt like I was the first person ever to stay here. The house had a new home smell, everything was prestine as if no one has touched it. Like all of the other reviews this place has everything you need with the exception of a crockpot 🙀. It was nice coming home and having dinner on the deck amongst the trees. Felt like you were still in the woods. My only complaint would be be the smoke alarm that went off at 1:30am for no apparent reason. Will come back next spring for sure.

About Kim Sands & Drew Paslawsky

We have been blessed with 39 years of exploring and recreating in the mountains, lakes, and rivers of Northwest Montana. We are delighted to have the opportunity to create our second vacation home from which to share this wonderful part of the world with our guests.

Kim Sands & Drew Paslawsky purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Kim Sands & Drew Paslawsky chose Columbia Falls

With a desire to create our second vacation stay, we searched and searched and eventually found this wonderful property bordering a cascading creek (roaring in the spring to gently ambling in late summer). In our imaginations, we envisioned a beautiful retreat that would accentuate our guests’ experience of visiting Glacier National Park and the Flathead Valley. We have spent a full year designing, building and decorating to make this vision come true. Our friends who see it say they want to live there! Come enjoy this magical place.

What makes this cabin unique

Lake Creek Cabin offers a tastefully decorated, roomy interior for 4 guests to enjoy time together or to wander off and have some time alone. The house features a bathroom for each of the two bedrooms for enhanced privacy. Living space is generous and comfortable with full amenities throughout. The icing on the cake is the outdoor living space – a screened porch in addition to the large deck overlooking the cascading creek. Summer in NW Montana is heaven and we want our guests to enjoy outdoor living rain or shine - or mosquitos! We designed and built this cabin with our guest’s enjoyment as our goal.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As we said in our comments to VRBO, your home was the best we have ever stayed in over the many years of our travels. We appreciate the quality of all the amenities which added so much to our comfort and enjoyment. To be able to come back after a full day to such a relaxing atmosphere was very special. We had planned to eat dinner out, but the deck was so great that all of us wanted to stay in and enjoy a most pleasant evening outside. Our daughter and granddaughter echo our experience.
