Good deal, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths in a great location to explore the Keys
Good deal, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths in a great location to explore the Keys.
Clean, neat, in good repair, no hassles, everything worked as expected, just what we needed for 2 couples.
One minor item, we went to start the washing machine with the towels on our way out the door when we discovered the laundry soap box they left us was empty. It was too late to go buy some, we had to go. I hope this didn't delay the next arrivals.
Thanks for a great deal.
Property was very clean and well maintained. Everything you need is included, with exceptional views at sunset! Would definitely stay here again.
Peaceful, Clean, Relaxing
Villa was clean, plenty of towels & beach towels. Beds were not the most comfortable, but everyone loves their OWN bed I guess :) Plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 children aged 19 and 17. Everyone could find their own quiet space if needed! We rented Kayaks from Wheels 2 Go, for 3 days, best thing ever! you just pop em in the water and go or just meander around! The company dropped off and picked them up! EASY! No bugs in villa anywhere to speak of- WELL WORTH the $, we will never stay in a hotel/motel again! Saw sea turtles, dolphin swimming in our cove, a double rainbow one morning after a brief rainstorm. Biggest problem is that we had to go back home to cold rainy Long Island! Great place to stay and unwind!
Upon arrival in after a long day of travel, the kitchen mess, used sheets on the bed, towels wet!
In all honesty the apartment was nice and quiet. However the apartment was a mess, used beds, towels in the bathroom wet and on the floor, dirty sinks and bath tub, kitchen with dirty pots and pans, coffee grind in the coffee maker, garbage still there, when we arrived after a long day of travel. So we had to move to another place, which was difficult to find and we had to move back the next day, losing a day of our vacation.
When requesting the owners to contact us requesting some kind of compensation, we never heard from them again.........not very correct at all!
We were really looking forward to our stay in the Keys. However, we left your property with hundreds of bedbug bites. Hundreds. I counted 43 bites on my left ankle and foot alone. My toddler has more than that on his back. All five of us are covered in hundreds of red scabs that are still causing extreme discomfort.
The property itself is nice. Even with all the hurricane damage to the community, the place is fairly welcoming. But, the bedbug issue made the whole experience quite disappointing.
The stay was not good.....The owners didn't do the right thing....
The condo was nice enough, however, sadly, there has been quite a bit of devastation to Duck Key and all surrounding keys, providing limited things to do. The condo itself was in acceptable condition, although there is still some damage to surrounding townhomes.
However, ALL of the amenities of Hawk's Cay resort and on Duck Key were closed, which the owner failed to disclose, despite my asking "how things were following the hurricane", in advance of our stay. We had to drive extensively just to find an open restaurant for dinner.
The marina pictured is directly behind the townhome. It experienced quite a lot of damage. You could continually hear the large hanging metal pieces banging in the breeze (the master bedroom faces the marina side of the townhome).
The entire drive from Duck Key, south towards Key West showed the extent of the devastation, with major debris piles lining the entire highway, until just before Key West. All of the foliage on the roadways and barrier islands were stripped of their leaves, making the trees look like "winter" trees. It was quite sad--we need to keep these families and businesses in our prayers. Key West, however, was spared. About 2 miles before Key West, the foliage returned to normal and Key West seemed completely untouched.
My biggest disappointment was with the owners. They were very prompt to respond in advance of our stay (to secure the booking and the payments), and to assure us everything was okay, before our trip (even though they knew it wasn't). We did end up cutting our trip short by 1 day, as there was really very little that we could do or see. As mentioned, even going out to dinner was an extensive drive (30-45 minutes) to find a nice, open restaurant. I reached out to the owners the night before we left to let them know we were going to leave one day early and asked if they would consider refunding the one night's stay. I sent a second communication about a week later and did not receive a single reply to either communication. I'm disappointed as they knew the state of Duck Key and the surrounding keys and they did not disclose any information in advance, despite my inquiry. And then for them not to respond...... I was certainly willing to pay for the time we stayed there. This is one of those situations where they "should have done the right thing" for the sake of future business. Had they done so, my review would have been favorable.
