About Vacasa, CA - High Sierras Office
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Great place, lovely views and perfect spot to get into Yosemite from. Bill was super helpful and flexible.
Nice house with customer service making it even better!
Nice 3-bedroom house is located on the hillside overlooking the lake and surrounded by trees. Just a nice, comfortable place to stretch out, spread out, and unwind. The front deck is a great place to feel the open air and even BBQ if you desire. The rear deck is a nice place for outdoor privacy. The kitchen is well equipped and has adequate cookware and dinnerware to take care of a family. We had a nice weekend there and very much enjoyed our stay - made even better by the outstanding customer service provided by the Property Manager, Virginia, who ensured our time there got off to a good start. Thanks to her, we had a great experience and would love to return again someday.
Dated home with unwelcoming community
The house was dated and in need of updating and maintenance; some things were broken and falling apart. The garbage disposal did not work, there was a chair with wood coming apart with rusty screw exposed.
Groveland is about 1.5 hours to Yosemite Valley. The surrounding area was nice but the hassle it takes to get into the gated community is not worth the trouble. The guards at the gate entrance are rude and unfriendly; they make it very clear that it's a nuisance for outsiders to be approaching them with parking passes. They were very unaccommodating when we showed up tired after a 5 hour drive with a cranky toddler at night and didn't realize we needed to pick up a parking pass in town so we were held at the gate for half an hour while I tried to get a hold of someone at Vacasa to help us. We also had another car in our party which needed a parking pass but they demanded for us to make our friend drive back into the town and leave her car there and for us to go pick her up which was absurd since we paid for the privilege to be in that gated community for the period of time we rented the house so we refused. They proceeded to share their sentiment with us that they would rather not have any renters because they have had nothing but problems dealing with them. The fact is, we rented a 3BR house and in our opinion, it shouldn't be that much of an issue to allow more than one car into the private community. All in all, it felt like they were running a military base and it was extremely unwelcoming and a stressful start to our intended weekend of relaxation to escape the poor air quality in the Bay Area.
On the top of that, the owner "checks in" and peeks in the windows long before the scheduled checkout time at 7pm after we paid for a late checkout which I thought was an invasion of privacy. Good thing no one was there walking around naked or anything!
Next time I would rather just rent from a private owner and not a big rental agency that imposes too many rules and requirements to plan a relaxing getaway.
We completely agree that the parking passes with Pine Mountain Lake can be trying. The process to get passes is the same whether renting from a private rental or large company. Fortunately, with Vacasa, there is an onsite office before you enter Pine Mountain Lake that can help you with the process. It is for our guest convenience that we request that all check-ins arrive at the office before going to the home. It's our sincerest hope that our guest's next visit goes more smoothly.
Dated house in need of maintenance + unwelcoming private community
This place is a complete hassle to rent from since it's in an unwelcoming private community that is treated like a military base and the rental agency, Vacasa, make it extremely difficult to check-in and gain access to the house. We ended up being turned away at the gate from the unfriendly, unwelcoming guards because our parking pass was not there. We had another 2 cars in our party because it was a 3BR house and they were giving us a hard time about getting other parking passes for our friends and even suggested they drive back into town and get picked up which was completely ridiculous to ask families with small children to do. They make it very clear they do not like outsiders renting there and even said they wish people didn't because they've had "nothing but problems" with us and the rental agency.
When we finally got to the house, we weren't impressed. The house needs updating and maintenance. Garbage disposal was broken, chairs falling apart and we had to buy our own sponge to wash dishes in the kitchen. They boast of an air hockey machine that doesn't work and is falling apart. Definitely not worth the price they were charging for this house.
The worst part is the owner "checks in" and peeks in the window long before checkout time which is a total invasion of privacy. Luckily no one was there walking around naked!
The surrounding area by the lake was nice and it's about 1.5 hours from Yosemite Valley. There are many other places to rent if you want a weekend in Yosemite, I would stay away from this gated community at Groveland if you want a stress-free hassle-free vacation.
We are disappointed to read this review. We will continue working with the community to build a good rapport. Our respectful guests help us out with this quite a bit.
A Nice property for a group to stay near Yosemite
A property with BBQ, deck and plenty of room and amenities to entertain a group of friends or family. It is almost an hour to get to Yosemite Valley. A good location and a good accommodation.
It was perfect for a family where ages ranged from teens to 80s. Lovely view and the home itself has a very welcoming amiance.
