Matt and Heather
Why Matt and Heather chose Rangeley
Our Family began renting in Rangeley many years ago when our kids were young. We found ourselves returning year after year... Rangeley is an amazing place. Our cottage on Dodge Pond is great if you enjoy amenities a town offers but also your own private beach. It is right off a main road.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our cottage sits on an acre & offers some incredible views of the mountains & sunsets. Whether you choose to take a drive to town for ice cream or bite to eat, hike one of the nearby trails, rent a boat or just stay at the cottage all week to relax & rejuvinate, there is something for everyone.

The Only Review You Need
Everything from the backdoor to the water was great. The kids had a nice beach for swimming and fishing and had a blast catching crayfish. The deepest part of the lake is 200 yards off shore too which is where all the trout in the lake go when the water gets warmer. The view was beautiful and there was very little boat traffic which was nice. That said....there is a considerable amount of car traffic as this cottage sits about 100 yards off a very main road where the speed limit is 55. This is not only concerning if you bring your dog but it’s not really the peace and quiet you’d expect going this far north into Maine. Beyond that, the house could use some work inside and the shower is very small and probably should be updated because it’s a bit grimy.
All in all we made the best of the week. However I think the price may be a bit high considering how far away it is, where it is situated, and the quality of the cottage overall.
Wonderful place for us to stay for a conference at the Wilhelm Reich Museum.
The photos are accurate. We enjoyed it. The hosts were very helpful and communicative.
R&R at its best
Amazing place. Quiet and clean. It was like we had the entire pond to ourselves. We will be back, for sure.
Heather and Matt’s house is fantastic! Dodge pond is so clean and clear and inviting! We had a great week kayaking, swimming, floating in tubes, campfires and stargazing. The view from the house is amazing. The town of Rangley has great little restaurants and shops. The Shed for great barbecue and the Farmers Daughter for fresh produce, bread and fabulous homemade pies. We loved our stay and will be back!
Lovely Spot But ...
The cabin on Dodge Pond is just lovely in so many ways that are hard to find. The proximity to the lake combined with the sandy shore and rocky bottom were just perfect. And the view is spectacular. After being absent for the first few days loons finally showed up and seranaded us almost every evening. Unfortunately the road noise offset much of this. If you are looking for peace and quiet, which we were, the logging trucks rumbling up and down the hill, much more than occasionally, made all of the rest difficult to enjoy to its full potential. And we were disappointed that the canoe had only one paddle. The cabin is comfortable and cheerful with a great view of the lake and easy access into town. If road noise doesn't bother you then this a great find.
It is a beautiful setting
The sand beach and swimming float are great. The location of the cottage is very handy to other attractions in the Rangeley area. The kayaks and canoe got a lot of use (could use a second canoe paddle). We had a great experience.
Across the street is a wildlife santuary with walking trails. Within a short drive you can hike Bald Mountain which offers stunning 360 degree views at the top. The hike is moderate to easy. Another favorite hike of our family is "Angel's falls". A real water fall in Maine!
*Although our cottage is far off the road, at times you can hear road noise.
