Enjoy your coffee as the morning sunlight moves like a sundial across the marsh from First Encounter Beach to you on your deck outside one of the upstairs bedrooms. Then, join your family for breakfast downstairs as you plan your vacation day. Will it be a charter boat out of nearby Rock Harbor. You can see them setting out on the tide from where you sit. Perhaps a walk for a morning swim in Herring Pond or at First Encounter Beach? How about hopping on the nearby bike path and cruising out to the Visitors' Center just 3 miles away to learn what the Cape Cod National Seashore has to offer (and to ask if anyone else has reported the bald eagle you saw this morning). Continue bicycling on to Coast Guard Beach, noted as one of the top beaches in the US. If you are eager for a longer bike ride, go to Wellfleet's Marconi Beach or into Orleans for some funky shopping. Plan an evening cookout, grilling on the deck as the gang recounts their adventures and the osprey can be seen carrying a fish to their young in the nest. Or, use the lobster pot and all the utensils for a classic shore dinner. Maybe plan a picnic as you take in the evening concert on Windmill Green.
Plenty of mini-golf, ice cream shops, kayak and SUP board opportunities compete for your vacation time. You have key access to the private tennis courts and pickle ball courts. How about joining the pickle ball round robin! Your choices of entertainment are many: theater, concerts, art galleries, craft fairs and flea markets, too. If you just want to be peaceful and quiet, enjoy the view from the deck onto one of the major migratory flyways. To your right, the inlet from Cape Cod Bay looks just as inviting as it did when the men from the Mayflower Company first encountered the Nausets of the Wampanoag Tribe. Today, the kite boarders catch the famous Eastham breeze. To your left are the many kettle ponds left by the last glacier, then the Atlantic beyond, offering fresh and salt water fishing or swimming. Eastham is just 3 miles across here, with estuaries and ponds hosting diverse plant and animal and bird life.
This sunny, open floor designed home has 2 bedrooms up the spiral staircase, each with its own deck. The master bedroom has a queen tempurpedic bed and the other has a full bed and a loft bed suitable for a child. Both rooms are air conditioned. There is a full bath between the two bedrooms.
The first floor is a bright, open, kitchen-dining-living area all with beautiful views through the three large sliders. The sliders lead to the main deck that looks over the Great Salt
Marsh. Off the living area is an office that converts to a third bedroom. The sofa becomes a single bed. There is an adjoining full bath and a door to this "suite" that can make it a private space for one vacationer.
The main floor has newly installed air conditioning. In winter, this "split" plus the gas fireplace can make the living space warm as you gaze upon the marsh ice flows. Other-worldly.
In the basement is another air conditioned bedroom. There is a queen bed and a full sized futon. There is half bath and a washer dryer in the basement. There is an unenclosed outdoor shower to rinse off beach sand. There is a protected area to store your bikes or kayaks, if you choose.
If there is any indoor time, the amenities include wi-fi, cable television, a library of vacation reads and a game drawer. A well equipped kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave. The dining area seats 6 indoors and the deck dining seats 6 as well.
We will provide you with key access to nearby tennis and pickle ball courts. Play on very well maintained courts in the neighborhood, perhaps finding neighbors to challenge.
Come enjoy the best of Cape Cod, surrounded by the natural beauty of this shore.
Those in the know realize what a treat it is to see this marsh "off season", too. Winter and spring are full of the special beauty of the changing marsh and active bird life.
