About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Very upscale log cabin just completed with white leather couches and tiffany lamps throughout. Spacious with a wonderful library of books and VCRs. Enjoy a fire in the chiminea, and the creative playground for young ones.

We are close to five renowned winery/vineyards in the area, with award winning wine for your tasting. Additional great winerys are located within 20 miles from the Cabin At The Mill.

The cabin is absolutely magic, situated on 11 acres of property, including its own stream. It is impossible to get bored. A couple of mountain bikes will take you down country roads to view bald eagles, red fox, wild turkey, black bear, and wildlife you would not normally get a chance to see.

We are also close to the FAMOUS Washington, Virginia, home of "The Inn at Little Washington," and Skyline Drive is wonderfully convenient. This is a special place, with special things offered for your getaway. Come out and experience it for yourself.

About Bonny Paulson

Bonny Paulson is a retired United Airlines International Flight Attendant and Jim Paulson is retired from the US Air Force, after a successful 30 yr career. We have lived on our property since May 1997 and loved every second of the environment. We truly believe we have been allowed to share a very special space on the planet with all kinds of beauty in it.

Bonny Paulson purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Bonny Paulson chose Northern Virginia

The Cabin At The Mill was actually built as a guesthouse for visiting family across the US and Europe/Australia. With that in mind, you can imagine the upscale interior and upgrades installed in the cabin for the confort and convenience of our own clan. It was meant to be special and we are constantly told this by our clients. There is so much to do in the area that we have return clients yearly and they now book their next visits before leaving the property. Our clients are outstanding and know value.

What makes this cabin unique

It is a very historic area, winery's throughout the county, fishing, Skyline Drive, horse back riding or just plain reading a book by the stream. It is a different world here and so worth the trip. You can canoe/Kayak/or tube the South Fork River or hike the Appalachian Trail, rock climb Old Rag Mountain, reserve a Llama packing day trip along the rim, or simply spend the day antiquing the local shops. We love all the things to do around here because you'll have to come back to do even more later.

Relaxing weekend in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous place to stay and convenient location to the Shenandoah Valley. Hosts, Bonnie and Jim, are just gorgeous. Can't wait to visit again - thank you for a wonderful weekend away from the city!

What a fantastic place!

  • 5 of 5

What a gem this place is! Bonny was extremely responsive throughout the booking process, and greeted us when we arrived to have us sign her guestbook and showed us around. After her greeting we had the whole place to ourselves (though Bonny was only a little ways off in case wee needed her). It is a perfectly isolated little spot in the woods, with a comfortable cabin (AC in August was important). We loved that there was no wifi or cell service (but there is just ways up the road if you need to connect now and then). The best part is that we were able to bring our two dogs--who LOVED it! The cabin is close to a couple of cute little towns and only about 15 minutes from Front Royal and the entrance the the Shenandoah National Park, where we went on a few hikes and even ran into a black bear on one of the trails. We saw deer in the creek one of the nights we were enjoying the fire pit, and were serenaded by chirping crickets and frogs. I can't wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Life is so good and when you come to the Cabin, it gets so very much better. If you love nature, wildlife, star studded night skies and a fire pit, then we are what you need. We are an easy 75 miles from Washington DC ... how sweet is that.

Wonderfully relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay at here!! We were greeted by our friendly hosts, Jim and Bonny. We were given a tour and explanation of the amenities. They assured us our stay would be peaceful and uninterrupted. And it was. The cabin,(great for a couple or small family) is very tastefully furnished and decorated. We enjoyed the porch swing a lot while listening to the frogs and the breeze in the trees and the nearby stream running over the rocks. They provide all the things you need inside and out. There is a gas grill, patio furniture, hammock, and a chimenea for a fire. Plus a seesaw and a tire swing for kids, and adirondack chairs closer to the stream. No TV here, but who needs one? A short trip to nearby towns and not far from the Blue Ridge Mtns. Want be be unplugged for awhile? This is the place to stay. You will love the remote beauty and serenity!!

Perfect Little Cabin in a Beautiful Part of Virginia

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed our stay at Bonny's cabin. The property and countryside are so beautiful. It was a nice drive to Shenandoah and allowed us to go for hikes in the park a few days in a row. We cooked all our dinners at the cabin. The kitchen and grill are well set up for making family dinners. Bonny stopped by right away to check on us and let us know she was right down the road if we needed anything. We had a very comfortable and relaxing weekend. My son loved splashing in the stream during the hot weather. I will definitely consider renting the cabin in the future if we have the chance.

Fabulous Wine Tasting area, with numerous local Vineyards in production, Sledding on the property, If your a poet, come out and be inspired, if your an artist, come out and paint/create, If you are a sketch artist, we have the subjects for you to draw, If you meditate, this is the place to be and REALLY be. The stream is privately owned on both sides. The property is magic - sit out under the stars ,at night, with a glass of wine and a fire in the chiminea. Life is just plain "good" out here and there is more to do than you have the time for or you can simply spend quality time in the hammock reading a best seller. Its all here for you.
