Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms | 1 Bathrooms | Sleeps 4

This log cabin was built in the Beaverhead National Forest east of Sheridan, Montana in the 1930’s by the owners’ grandparents and moved in 2010. Presently, it is located 1 ½ miles west of Alder, Montana on a ranch. Though the exterior remains rustic, the interior has been completely remodeled. It is located one mile from a Ruby River fishing access, the heart of some of Montana’s best fishing. It also offers an easy drive to the Madison, Jefferson, Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers. Apart from fishing, the area offers countless outdoor activities including bird and big game hunting, birding, hiking, garnet hunting, and cross country skiing. Historical Virginia City/Nevada City is a ten minute drive.

The cabin has a King sized bed in the great room and a trundle bed in the bedroom. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, and the kitchenette offers a cooktop, toaster oven, coffee pot, and a double sink. The large deck is furnished with patio furniture and a gas grill. Trees to the North create privacy on the deck yet great mountain views abound in every direction.

Wonderful cabin and beautiful scenery

  • 5 of 5

Julie was very welcoming. We enjoyed visiting with her and had a great 2 night stay in the cabin. It was sparkling clean, as if nobody had ever stayed there before us. We explored some of the back roads, had dinner at the local steak house, did some fishing and took a lot of photos. I highly recommend this cabin for a peaceful, country vacation.

Charming spot

  • 5 of 5

Perfect little getaway spot for a few days post work trip. Location was perfect for our mini family fishing trip and our daughter LOVED the horses and sweet dog visiting her while there.

Thank you!!

We had a very relaxing 3 days sitting on the porch. Nevada city and Virginia city are right down the road. Beautiful and comfortable inside the cabin.

The cabin is amazing not far off the Ruby River.

  • 5 of 5

Great centralized location for fishing any of the four rivers. Julie and her husband were great and shared information on the local fishing accesses. I would definitely stay at the cabin again.

Wonderful Vacation Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This rustic cabin was a perfect home base for my husband, teenage son and I, along with our dog, to explore the area of Virginia City and Ennis. We really enjoyed fishing the Ruby and Madison Rivers! If you get a chance the US Fish & Wildlife Fish Hatchery by Ennis is a neat place to visit. Our favorite restaurant was the Grizzly Bar, located around 30-40 miles south of Ennis. If your fishing the Madison it really isn't that far out of the way and the food is worth it! We would definitely love to come back and highly recommend this vacation property. Thanks Dave and Julie for being such gracious hosts and making us feel welcome!
