Very clean, comfortable and peaceful.
Lovely place to stay when you want to “get away from it all”
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and found the home to be beautiful, comfortable, and filled with just about anything you might need (lots of great books, games, kitchen items, extra bedding and towels, hangers, info on local things to do, etc.). It is an older farmhouse, so do be aware it’s not a flashy, sleek hotel type place (and we thought that was a good thing.) We had cooler, rainier weather than usual for summer so we never felt the house was “too” hot, but the upstairs bedrooms do get warm and they do have fans, but not air conditioning. This area is quite buggy in the summer ( of course) but just thought I should mention that if you’re not familiar with this part of the US. Also, this home is a long-ish feeling drive from Montpelier - not crazy far, but do be aware you won’t want to be quickly popping back and forth into Montpelier. Overall, we had a really great stay. Thank you Cynthia! :-)
Attractive, roomy Vermont farmhouse
We just stayed at this property for the second time and found it as appealing as before. The owners, Cynthia and Phil, are highly responsive and thoughtful; we arrived to find that they had shoveled the outside paths and parking area (our visit featured LOTS of snow), made sure the house was toasty, and left us a nice selection of local breakfast items in the refrigerator. The house is well appointed for those who want to cook and easily sleeps 8 people. Overall, it is a carefully maintained, inviting property in a lovely part of north-central Vermont. Highly recommended!
home away from home
Two friends and I rented this property for a week while we attended a graduate school residency. This was the perfect spot to come home to after a long day of studying! The beds were cozy, everything was clean and there was charming decor in every room. The pond is so peaceful and we saw deer our first morning there. We loved being there and have plans to return next fall. I would just note we did not have cell phone service at the house, but wifi works reliably so you don't ever have to be out of touch.
All communications were extremely prompt and accurate. We are so grateful to have had a home away from home for the week! Thank you!
Vermont country retreat
We have rented many homes in different areas of the country and this was one of the best ! It was a perfect getaway for our family of 4 adults and 2 dogs. It is a very comfortable house with alot of room and great kitchen with everything you need for cooking dinners. We enjoyed swimming in the clearest pond I have ever seen and kayaking in West Hill Pond, which was very accessible from a clearly marked trail . Cynthia was a great host and is very responsive. We mentioned we were bringing lobsters from Boston and when we arrived the lobster pot was on the stove ! With two daughters living in Burlington (1 hour away ) I know we will be back
Like last summer, another great visit!
Arrived to find the farm house sporting a new coat of paint. Looks spectacular and enhances the beautiful perennial gardens. The welcoming wine, cheese and bread made us feel at home. A bonus in the August visit is the ample supply of blueberries for picking and adding to one's breakfast cereal or a dessert. This was our second annual visit though a month later. Some July perennials had passed but were replaced in beauty by the August versions. Although the dry weather had reduced pond water replenishment the many turtles and frogs did not seem to mind, nor did we. And the evening visit by deer to test the ripening apples put our Ruffie on alert.
Cynthia's farmhouse is well deserving of our second visit and more.
