As described, great communication, would rent again
We originally were looking for a property that could handle our family (husband, wife, 4 teenagers), my mother- and father-in-law, and possibly my sister-in-law, husband, and 2 tweens. Initially, we were only sure of our family and my father- and mother-in-law, and that's how we booked it. Yvonne was always communicative, and quickly affirmed we were still within normal expectations of 12-guests when my sister-in-law confirmed her family would also join us.
Yvonne and John's property is nicely situated in a grassy area they have created out of the scrub-brush-land. It's the only house on their side of the road, and the houses on the other side of the road are spaced well-apart...in other words, you feel like you have the countryside to yourself! You have wide open sky from seeing "Our Lady of the Rockies" to the East, the NorthEast part of Butte at the foothills to the East, and to the sun setting in the West. Complete that view with the sound of the running water from their 3 pond-and-stream system, and you have a tranquil place to relax while the kids play in the yard.
Butte was a quick drive, and we always enjoy the 3rd of July fireworks. This year we went right down under the M and had a great time with our extended family from Elk Park, especially since they had already setup all the tailgating tables, snacks, and drinks one could ask for! We're truly blessed to have wonderful family in this part of the USA.
We made a day-trip to the Lewis and Clark Caverns, which I had always wanted to visit. It was well-worth it, and even my wife and teenage children said so!
We made another day-trip to the Ringing Rocks. Make sure you take a 4x4! Our Tahoe did just fine in 4-high. If you forget to take a hammer, previous adventurers may have left some hanging for you to use!
One night we enjoyed a free street concert with Tim Montana. The jeep in the front of Yvonne and John's place sure made me think of the song, 'Rusty Red'!
The rest of our time was spent at my wife's Family Reunion, at the Elk Park firehouse and the family homestead properties (still actively maintained) a few miles up the road.
We always have a great time in Butte, and John and Yvonne's place was perfect for our needs. There is some wear and tear, and it is in the fields of Montana, so you should know what to expect, but we would recommend their place to any family or group looking to share some time while still having plenty of elbow room!
Not Good experience
It was not a good experience. We left a day early because of owner.
Sadly you broke every house rule possible 😩you brought in more then 12 people, you brought in a fifth wheel trailer and plugged into home, you had numerous dogs and I could go on and on, you were very dishonest from the get go. Maybe when you book your next VRBO home you’ll be more honest and respectful.. your real good and telling people what they want to hear, wish I could show the videos of the person you truly are, and by the way, it’s legal to have outside camera
A large stately home with an inviting atmosphere
I just finished a clergy retreat with 12 people at the Gibson home. We shared teachings, meals, and time just hanging out in this roomy home. There was plenty of space for all of the above! The kitchen is large and accommodating and the living room was just right for our gatherings. The five bedrooms as well as the upstairs loft were helpful for sleeping arrangements. Even though we were just 15 minutes from uptown Butte we felt remote and enjoyed the quiet. If I have to host another retreat I will certainly consider the Gibson home again.
This is wonderful to know, thank you, God bless
Not One to rent!
Very dirty. Owners lied and then changed ad. Kitchen is dysfunctional. Some appliances (oven) not working correctly. Basics in a kitchen not present. Would never return. Would not recommend.
very sorry to hear this, as the Owner i feel we went out of our way to make your stay helpful, you brought in close to 20 people in the home, one of the owners came and got there Air Compressors from there garage and helped you blow up your air mattresses to help sleep all these extra people. you asked for a broom, the owner went to the store and bought you a broom, as you were staying there the light went out on the oven, the owner came and helped show you what to do, the ovens still worked and you and your family done alot of cooking at the home, the owner has ordered the part and the light will be fixed, things happen that are out of your control at times, the house is super clean and its sad that we made sure you had a great stay. but still unhappy
the house sleeps 12, but in the notes says the house can hold up to 16 to 20 people. we did not lie as what is wrote about the sleeping arrangements in the home is exactly how the home is set up. like i said, anything you needed the owners were there to help, and did help. we know you and your family had a wonderful stay and made sure you were taken care of. very minor details between oven light and broom. and we made sure you had them. again thought we made things right, sorry your unhappy
A Must to Rent
Perfect Place for my Family to spend the Holidays. The entire house was perfect, very clean and organized.
Our family enjoyed this vacation home to spend our quality time together, perfect family gathering home.
Absolutely Gorgeous! Spacious and VERY Accomodating
I was back in Butte to visit my family along with my own family. This home was like walking into the Ritz Carlton. Words can't express how beautiful and clean this home is. We especially loved the large kitchen which had its own fireplace and seating area where we sat around playing games, while grandma and the kids baked cookies. The owners were very easy to work with and allowed us our space, though were available if we needed something. I can say it was difficult to leave this home and go back to real life. I would highly recommend this home as a rental for any event.
