About Thomas Balue
Welcome to Hope Farms! I purchased this 6 acre property in 2013. Hope Farms was our dream to offer a special place for our family and the community to enjoy all the wonderful experiences of farm living. In 2014, Hope Farms leased 1 acre of the property for the purpose of farming local organically grown produce. In 2015, Hope Farms leased this 1 acre area to The Growing Project, a local non-profit in the Fort Collins area, who took over the gardens and is now the home base for The Growing Project's non-profit operations and programs. The farmhouse was also built in 2015 and was designed by me personally. I also acted as the general contractor during the building process and was involved in every building and designing feature. In addition, Hope Farms has worked with The Sustainable Living Association, another local non-profit in the area, to offer farm and sustainability classes and workshops over the past few years.

Why Thomas Balue chose Fort Collins
This property is very special and was built and designed by me personally and is truly my dream home. I have put much of my energy into Hope Farms and being on the farm gives me and others who have stayed here much pleasure.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Hope Farms is a true working farm in the city. When you are there you feel far from everything but you have all the amenities of the wonderful downtown Fort Collins area within minutes away. I love that I can ride my horse for miles from my property through all the wonderful open spaces that are accessible from my property and along the Poudre Trail. I also love long walks and bike rides on the trail along the Poudre River and ponds in the area. It is truly a slice of heaven.

Beautiful home and venue-could use some attention
This is a beautiful home which we rented as a home base for our daughters wedding. We had a couple of dinners at the farm as well as a brunch. The back banquet room was a very nice feature. We unfortunately came at a time when there had been hail damage to the roof and the roofers apparently damaged the location of the satellite. This meant that we had no TV nor did we have any internet. Michelle gave us the number to try to resolve it, unfortunately even though we stayed there for 5 nights, Direct TV could not get out there until after we left.We were very busy, but it definitely created a void in what is a beautiful home. There are also no animals to see, nor is there a garden. It is not a "working farm". While this was something that I was looking forward to, it was not a deal breaker for me. It would have been nice to know that the barns are empty and there is no landscaping, or outside maintenance. The kitchen is minimally stocked with pots, pans and no sharp knives. (We had to go buy one) You should bring your own pillows, as those provided are tough for sleeping. The location was great for getting back to downtown Fort Collins, and the open-air feeling one gets in the house is spectacular. I would probably stay there again, and just bring my own things up front.
Met all of our needs. Would stay here again. Michelle was easy to work with.
9 family members atayed here for a long wedding weekend. Comfy beds, great kitchen and open living area, and 2.5 bathrooms were nice. Did miss some of the expected amenities such as functional WiFi internet service, and little items such as tissues and soap in all bathrooms, and working lightbulbs in all lamps and fixtures. We easily took care of missing items and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. This is a very nice home where people of all ages can feel comfortable.
The ideal family get away. Lots of space and close to everything.
We had a wonderful time staying at Hope farms for a full week. The pictures do not do the property justice, its much better than we expected. Michelle was very responsive to incidental questions we had. We brought our kids' bikes and it was worth the haul! They rode all over the farm and we even discovered a free BMX bike track in Ft. Collins to boot!
The master bedroom is great with an oversized tub and front and back patio private access. The closet is big enough to get one of the two queen sized air mattresses in as well. We used one of the queen mattresses in the laundry room for our kids, it fit just fine with room to spare and the kids loved it.
The kitchen is huge with a dreamy stove and oven. The upstairs bathroom has a bonus large closet for luggage and overflow. With family living in Old Town we plan to visit often and Hope Farms will be at the top of our list.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Hope Farms. We hope to have you back again!
Great spot for a family reunion.
We had our family reunion at Hope Farms and it was fantastic. Michelle was helpful and accommodating throughout the process of planning our stay. She went above and beyond answering all my questions. The house is amazing. It is clean and comfortable. My whole family loved the house, especially the kitchen.
Thanks for the review Brian. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay!
The property was beautiful and very well maintained. The kitchen was great with plenty of utensils for cooking. The only thing to keep in mind is that the Home claims to sleep 12, that’s not really the case. There are 3 bedrooms which comfortably sleep 8, but the other 4 sleepers will be on 2 low quality air mattresses. For a group of 8 it would be perfect.
Comfortable and Relaxing Retreat
Exceeded our expectations ....beautiful and relaxing place to stay and visit with out-of-towners for our daughter’s wedding.
Fort Collins is famous for world-class craft beer and excellent dining and nightlife. Enjoy all that Fort Collins has to offer with a short 5-minute drive into old town, or a walk to local breweries.
