Overview

About the property

4 bedroom 2 bath conveniently located

This property sits on the west edge of Woodland Park. It has a large wrap around deck with stunning views of Pikes Peak from the back of the property. You are conveniently close to town on a cul de sac with very little traffic.

Woodland Park is a quaint town with great little shops and amazing restaurants. The Dinosaur Museum is in the heart of town and down the road a bit is the start of Pikes Peak Hwy. The area provides ample opportunity for outdoor activities such as hiking, bird watching, or fishing. A 15 mile drive into Manitou Springs and you can enjoy Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, or ride the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Seven Falls, Air Force Academy and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo are located in Colorado Springs which is a 30 mile drive. Santa's Village is located along Pikes Peak Hwy along with many gift shops. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, and the Hornbek Homestead are located outside Florissant which is a 15 minute drive from the house. Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center is located between Divide and Florissant. Enjoy a scenic drive to Cripple Creek, a historic mining town, for gambling. You may also decide to tour the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine or ride the Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad. Canon City and the Royal Gorge are less than 60 miles away. Denver is approximately an hour and a half from the house if you'd like to visit the Denver Zoo, have fun at Elitch Gardens or take in a Colorado Rockies baseball game at Coors Field.

Adults staying at the house... there are several breweries within the Woodland Park, Manitou Springs, Colorado Springs and Divide area. Ute Pass Brewing Co and Bierworks are both located in Woodland Park and Paradox Beer Company is located in Divide which is only an 8 mile drive.

As you may notice from the pictures, the property does sit adjacent to Highway 24 and the traffic can be heavy at times. However, as mentioned above, the property itself sits off a frontage road on a cul de sac with very little traffic.

A side note, as is typical with mountain homes this house does not have air conditioning. Even though air conditioning is not listed in the amenities below we felt it worth mentioning separately so there is no confusion.

Check in time is 4:00 PM MST and check out time is 10:00 AM MST.

About Corey Jacobs

I was born and raised in Iowa where I currently live with my wife and two of our three children. I went to elementary, jr high and high school in the same small town which my children currently attend. I am a University of Northern Iowa graduate with a Mathematics degree. I'm a strategy director for a company I've been employed with for 11 years. My wife and I like to vacation with our children and the mountains have always been one of our favorite places.

Corey Jacobs purchased this house in 2016

Why Corey Jacobs chose Woodland Park

My family and I have vacationed in Colorado a few times and absolutely love the state with everything it has to offer. I wanted to purchase a home that would allow us to enjoy the scenery whenever we were able to make the trip. We would love for others to see and enjoy Colorado the way we have been able to enjoy it.

What makes this house unique

We chose this house because of the location. The wrap around deck and the views of Pikes Peak are breath taking. We also enjoyed the wood ceilings and gas fireplace. It's a convenient location to many different attractions. Woodland Park is a great town and we fell in love with it.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time here. It was quiet, centrally located and the house is very clean and has loads of dishes, towels, etc. Local attractions are nearby. We sat on the deck one evening and watched 2 fawns settle in for the night right there in the yard. On the last evening we even saw a rainbow.

Nice Colorado stay

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice home with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms spread out over two levels. It's clean and the kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker and coffee, etc. You are right off of Rt 24 but I didn't think it was all that noisy. We were there for Labor Day weekend though and it's a very busy time so there was a lot of traffic. Be sure to look at a map and see if this house meets your needs for the area. It was 25-30 minutes to most of the main attractions in Manitou Springs (Garden of the Gods, Cliff Dwellings, etc.) . It was 45-50 minutes to the North Gate of USAFA. A few extra pillows, another chair in the living room, and a larger table outside would be nice additions but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful house, nice deck to sit on and enjoy the beautiful views. Had 2 deer in the yard we got to watch. Loved the views from the top of the hill out back. Everything in the house was cozy and nice. It had everything we needed.

Loved our stay!

Very comfortable home away from home with great views of wildlife and scenery as well as a great location. Woodland Park offered shopping and restaurant options and was centrally located for a number of tourist attractions. We would definitely stay again!

Great property with very responsive and helpful owner!

  • 5 of 5

The property was the perfect size for our family of 8. It was pretty close to everything but still had plenty of privacy. Had a momma deer and her 2 babies come up everyday. We Had one little issue but was able to get ahold of the owner right away , he was very responsive and answered any questions we had. We had a great stay and are looking forward to our next stay there in the near future!!

Stay from afternoon of August 1st to morning August 6th 2017 (5 nights)

  • 4 of 5

Overall the house served our purposes very well.

There are a few things that need repair: Curtain in the front bedroom will fall, again, if not better secured; Toilet in upstairs bathroom needs serious repair (tank needs to be secured before a serious leak occurs and floods the bathroom and heating system, and the flushing mechanism needs replacement); Gas Bar-B-Q did not work; The sliding screen to front deck needs to be adjusted and set in rails (we had to stop using that entry onto the deck because we could not easily close the screen); The front door latch at the knob must be adjusted. (This latch will not hold the door closed. The deadbolt had to be used to keep the door closed.)

We very much appreciated the opportunity to use your property. It supported us very well, and we were satisfied with the accommodations.

Warmest Regards, Nick Lacey

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The toilet mentioned has been replaced. The grill was out of gas so a tank exchange was done and it is working again. A hinge on the front door was fixed so the door closes correctly now. The blinds and the sliding glass doors in the front will be replaced in the near future. Thanks again
