Please help us to keep our beach house in its “new & improved” condition … it has been quite a struggle to get to this point, after a disastrous experience with a local contractor and a total loss of rentals for the 2015 season. Please be sensitive to your neighbors in our building, especially relative to outside smoking (drifts upward) and noise. You are responsible for proving all linens, paper products and trash can liners. Please do not use beds without first installing your sheets and pillowcases. Please do not take any bed covers/bedding to the beach. Please remember to keep all windows and doors closed when the air conditioning is on. The thermostat should be kept at 70 degrees or higher. The cost of water/sewer is one of our biggest expenses (water use drives the sewer bill as well) – please use all water prudently – showers, dishwashing and clothes washing should be done when and as necessary. The outside showers (enclosed h/c and non-enclosed) are for tenant use only. Ant control is a struggle on this part of the island. Please help us and yourself by not leaving dirty dishes or open food/drink containers on the counters, tables, etc. (especially sweet food/drink). Please remember to turn all appliances OFF when leaving the building. Please be careful on the outside stairs when wet, and in the bathroom tub – surfaces may be slippery. Please keep sunscreened bodies off of the sofas and chairs inside, and spray/apply sunscreen outside and away from the house siding/porch floor (it stains). Please wash sand off your bodies using the outside shower or hose, before coming into the building. Do not put any sandy stuff in the washer or dryer. Please keep your sand/beach chairs outside, in the back of the house, and off the front porches. Please keep food in the kitchen and dining room area, and not in the living room or bedrooms. Do not bring buckets/containers of ocean water with fish/creatures back to the house. They typically are forgotten, then decay and draw flies and other insects (and they stink too!) The bicycles and beach chairs stored in the rear of the building are for owner’s use only. Trash days are Monday and Thursday beginning June 13. Glass, cans and plastic bottles can all be placed in the same container for recyclables; paper/cardboard can be bundled or placed in paper bags; all other trash needs to be in covered trash cans. All containers are on the bay side of our building, just behind the outside enclosed shower. You are responsible for keeping trash and recyclables separate, and for providing trash can liners for use within your apartment. If you received the apartment keys directly from us, please return them at the end of your stay to the key box on the back porch …. Otherwise, the next visitor will not be able to get into the apartment. If you smoke, please do so outside of the apartment. Please make sure that all smokes are fully extinguished when retiring and that no ashes/embers are dropped on the awnings when smoking on the porch. Cooking/grilling on the front porch, rear deck or steps (i.e., combustible surfaces) is not permitted. We would appreciate your leaving the apartment in the condition in which you found it. Clean dishes and trash removal to the outside containers are your responsibility.
