About Lani & Greg Stava

We love the outdoors and traveling. We purchased this cabin 10 years ago for a quick get-away from the valley and to enjoy the four seasons of the Bradshaw Mountains and the charming town of Prescott.

Lani & Greg Stava purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Lani & Greg Stava chose Prescott

Secluded, high mountain cabin with acreage yet close to Prescott. We wanted a rustic cabin in the pines that was not too far from our home in the north Phoenix and a place with history, character and where you could get away from it all, or not.

The cabin sits on almost two acres, it’s 6,682 foot elevation is sometimes 10 degrees cooler than Prescott and usually 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix. It is a 3 bedroom, 3/4 bath with a large deck on the back of the cabin with fabulous views. We have apple trees on the property with fruit usually ready to be pulled in the fall. A seasonal creek at the bottom of the property carries runoff to Lynx Creek and Lynx Lake after the summer rains or with the snow melt. This is truly a charming piece of property we know you will enjoy.

What makes this cabin unique

Serene and secluded... Relax on the deck as you look out over the treetops and down into the valley that seems to always carry a breeze into the property. Two large flat areas on almost two acres of land surrounds our mini apple orchard and is full of iris and delicate forest plants. The towering pines provide a welcomed shade in this second sitting area, two hammocks are nearby for a quick nap or just staring off into the blue skies and lazy rolling clouds.

Recently renovated with new flooring, cabinets and bath on the main floor, decorated to look and feel more like a rustic lodge. Decorations include vintage original oil paintings, mining items, fly fishing rods/reels and an assortment of other treasures from days gone by and collected from here and there to create a more rustic feel to the place.

Look for deer, javelina, an occasional skunk and coyotes. Although more difficult to spot, there are lynx, raccoons, turkeys and occasional black bear sightings the area.

We didn’t have enough room in our cabin for our large family, so we reached out to our neighbors The Stava’s to help with the overflow. They thought of everything and made our stay feel perfect in every way!

Peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

If you are wondering if you should book this property, stop wondering and book it! This place exudes relaxation, whether you're sitting on the back deck or strolling the grounds. We spent our spring break here visiting my daughter who attends Yavapai College. She and some friends came out to enjoy the serenity and a home-cooked meal. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, and there was just the right amount of space for everyone to re-energize. Greg and Lani are wonderful hosts, and have thought of everything. We have booked a cruise for next spring break, but are already thinking about trading that in for another week at Mary May Inn!

Perfect, relaxing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin & its surrounding property exceeded all of our hopes & expectations for a much-needed relaxing family vacation. We were instantly in love with the beautiful cabin & all its window views, all the thoughtful amenities, & the serene forest surroundings. We were excited to see 15 deer right on the other side of the deck one day & a magical snowfall the next day. This was the perfect place to get away from all the distractions of busy, normal life & focus on our spending wonderful time with our family! We are already talking about our “next time” here!

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Lani and Greg’s cabin was very beautiful and peaceful. I don’t know if it was ordered but the herd of Mule deer passing in front of the cabin when we arrived was a great touch. The cabin was very cozy and the wood fireplaces heated the cabin extremely well. Even in weather down to 15 degrees the cabin was warm and we did not need blankets. The cabin was stocked with plenty of supplies, dishes, and cooking ware. We couldn’t have asked for a better time or a better place to stay.

Amazing secluded cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visit Prescott at least 3 times a year and this cabin has been one of our favorites. It’s away from the city but not too far. It’s very quiet, very clean, secluded, and adorable! It had everything we needed and more! The view is amazing... you are literally in the middle of the woods and can see every star in the sky; it’s beyond beautiful. Not only is the cabin amazing the owners are amazing as well. We had a question very late at night and Greg responded to us and was very understanding, kind and informative. We would definitely recommend this cabin and we will be back for sure.

This property is located approximately 10 miles south from the intersection of Highway 69 and Walker Road. Walker Road is a paved two lane road for about 9 miles. The last mile to the cabin is a dirt road (but county maintained), that is easily driven by car. If you consider renting during the snow season or muddy "thaw" (December -March having a vehicle with 4WD is strongly recommended as well as VRBO trip cancellation insurance.

Many of the restaurants and entertainment venues are only 15 to 20 miles from the cabin, a quick trip for something forgotten or sight seeing.

There are six lakes are between 8 and 20 miles from your stay (Watson, Willow, Granite Basin, Goldwater, Lynx and Fain Lake), for licensed fishing, boating/kayaking, and some of the lakes have boat rentals available. Fishing and miles of hiking trails are at your backdoor. There are plenty of things to do in and around Prescott!
