Completely Renovated 2 Bed, 2 Bath, Canal Front Home

This is a completely renovated 2 bed, 2 bath canal front home (sleeps 6 total, including adults and children) with brand new furniture throughout located at the end of a quiet street with Natural Wildlife Preserve lots surrounding the property, with Key Deer making themselves at home. We have beautiful mature coconut palms and a crystal clear canal waiting for you to make yourself at home. Plenty of room for 2 vehicles and a boat trailer.

The canal is crystal clear with mangrove snapper and is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or paddle boarding. We have 2 kayaks and 1 paddle board available for use. Fish right from the dock, bring your own boat or rent one, there is plenty of room on our 50' concrete dock. We are 2 canals from the open water (contact us regarding depth and clearance for boats through the bay). We do have a bait freezer & ice maker available for your use under the house for you avid fishermen! Rentals and charter boats are nearby for fishing, diving, or sightseeing. For the boaters, a full service marina including boat ramp, fuel and marine repair is conveniently located on the next island south.

Explore the neighborhood by walking or riding bikes (we have 2 available) to see and visit all the Key Deer or to go down to the bay at the end of the road for a beautiful sunset.

The master bedrooms furnished with a comfortable queen bed and has it's own bath. The second bedroom is furnished with 2 set of bunk beds (twin on top & full on bottom) and shares the full hall bath. Both rooms are quiet and lots of natural light. We have a fully equipped kitchen including toaster, coffee pot (keurig), crockpot, blender and microwave. We have Directv in the living room and in the master bedroom and WIFI for the entire property (even out on the dock or on your boat if you need to update any software).

Beautiful relaxing canal view from the screen patio off of the dining area. The dining area has a beautiful white wicker dining set that seats 6 and the patio has a dining table that seats 4. Gas grill located downstairs where 4 additional adirondack chairs sit to enjoy the canal and the natural preserve next door.

If you are looking to have wild loud parties, then this is NOT the house for you. This home is located in a quiet neighborhood. But when you yearn for the craziness head to Key West (30 mi south).

Key West is an easy 45 min drive south, with scenic views of the ocean and bay. While the main drag Duval Street, is full of T-shirt shops and some chain stores, look past them to see the real charm of Key West with it's local artists studios, Bahamian architecture and vocal chickens which have the run of the island. Enjoy some world class cousin. Be sure to have your picture taken at the Southernmost Point in the US and then head to Mallory Square for the sunset celebration. There you will find street performers, artisans and food carts. There are many historical sites and museums to visit. Take a sunset cruise on a sailboat.

Bahia Honda State Park has one of the top rated beaches in the US and it is only minutes away.

A short boat ride away is Looe Key, a Federally protected marine sanctuary with dive and snorkeling rated as the best in the continental US.

About Diana

We enjoy the Florida Keys for offshore fishing, lobstering, snorkeling or inshore fishing. We choose to purchase this home on Big Pine Key because of the tranquility of the island and of course the Key Deer. They are special all in their own. We currently live on the west shore of Florida and enjoy the Keys for an escape from our busy hectic regular lives.

Diana purchased this house in 2016

From beginning to end this was the perfect place to rent for my family. My husband, son and I enjoyed the neighborhood and the house. We loved how quiet it was and we could enjoy the birds, the deer and even the lizards. My husband caught a snapper in the canal(threw it back) and had a great time kayaking the different canals.

At one of the local bait shops we hooked up with a guide and the boys went fishing two different days. My son caught two different sharks and had the time of his life.

The house was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We did not want for anything. Having the grocery store at the beginning of the road made it easy if I forgot anything and of course hitting Publix on Key West for the main shopping always helps.

I would recommend this place to anyone! We will when we come back to the Keys!

Fantastic Big Pine Key canal home

  • 5 of 5

This was our fifth stay in the Florida Keys, the fourth on Big Pine Key. We've come to enjoy staying on this part of the island for the key deer sitings and the sunset view on the end of Gulf Blvd. I'd highly recommend this property "Tranquility in the Keys," for those who are looking to stay in the lower Keys (basically anywhere from Key West all the way to Marathon.) It was clean, well organized, nice amenities. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch and the openness of the kitchen (we basically prepared all but two of our meals during our stay :) and the kitchen made us feel at home with the necessary cookware/utensils.

When we look for a property we look for a place close to the key deer reserve and on the canal as its convenient for our 2 adult - 2 children family (5 year old and 2 year old.) With one of our children napping in the afternoon, one of us caught snapper and grunts right on the canal while the other went exploring with the wake board and kayaks available on the property. Yes we did cook the fish and they were delicious.

During our stay, our favorite thing to do in the keys is to enjoy Bahia Honda State Park (a 20 minute ride from the property). A few times we enjoyed some coffee from Cuban Cafe -- the Cuban restaurant/coffee place right on Big Pine Key. We did a little more exploring in Key West -- visiting a few new beaches including Higgs Beach and the gorgeous Key West Garden Club (worth going into if you are near Higgs Beach.) There are too many good restaurants in Key West. Finally there is a new restaurant in Big Pine Key called Bucktooth Rooster which had some great food (especially the fried fish :) We also visited Marathon Key -- the kids enjoyed the turtle hospital and Sombrero Beach is a nice public beach with a playground in Marathon.

Nice, quiet and tropical!

  • 5 of 5

We had a "non-traditional" Thanksgiving - and it was wonderful. Relaxing and beautiful! Charming and user-friendly house. The Key Deer were a hit with my children (8 and 10 yr old girls)! Fully equipped kitchen, nicely stocked Winn Dixie nearby. Very clean and comfortable.

Perfect Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Enjoy this clean, fully furnished, quiet spot on Big Pine Key. Relax and enjoy spotting the Key Deer and other wildlife. A central location for day touring to Key West, Bahia State Park, Dolphin Research Center and other great sites. Take a scuba or snorkel tour and explore the reefs! You can prepare meals at home or go to the many excellent restaurants in the area. Did I mention the screened porch? A great place to drink morning coffee and plan the days entertainment! The owner is very helpful and responds immediately to any questions. Yes I would recommend friends to try this out. You won't be disappointed.
