About Joe W
Joe continues to rehabilitate an old cabin on the property and finish the landscaping over the course of summer 2017. This project was completed with many recycled items and is super insulated, with led lighting and efficient water heaters.
Joe W purchased this House in 2015
Why Joe W chose Twin Bridges
Twin Bridges is surrounded by the Tobacco Root, Ruby, Highland and Pioneer mountain ranges, with the Beaverhead river running through. This project was completed in just over a year by Joe, a few friends, and much wood from old barns and houses being torn down and reassembled in Twin.

Amazing place with inspirational photos, comfy beds, and first class service from the owners.
Good to talk to you the other day and make some connections, bummed I missed out on your jam session, sounds like a honey. The place was left clean, great guests.
Gonna double down on those blinds as suggested. Good input.
A great find. We will be back.
We chose the Combat Fisherman despite planning to fish the Beaverhead well upstream of Dillon. Logic would dictate that we should stay in Dillon and not Twin Bridges, as it’s an extra 70 mins driving each day to get here. But a Dillon hotel v The Combat Fishernan is a no-brainer.
Such a great set up. We stayed here mostly because of the main room which is set up to be a very social setting, and so it turned out to be. A great space that allowed our party of six, ample room and the right atmosphere to play music and talk about our adventures on the river each day.
Downstairs is the main room with dining table and three super comfy weathered leather lounges set up for socialising with friends. There was also a terrific kitchen with a well thought out space and some clever use of materials that I’ll definitely incorporate into the next fishing lodge that I build.
Upstairs there were two seperate sleeping spaces. Up one end were three large comfy beds, and up the other end were two more beds. The only tricky thing for us Australians, was the way in which the windows opened inwards. A clever and a welcome addition at the end of those hot July days. The place was easily kept cool through this simple opening and closing of the windows each evening/morning.
I absolutely loved the use of timber throughout the house and some of the construction techniques employed. I built my own fishing lodge nearly twenty years ago, and am about to build a new house, and I am going to steal many of the ideas used in the Combat Fisherman for my place. In fact I would love to build a replica of this as a small, intimate boutique fishing lodge.
We will be back. Definitely worth the extra driving distance to avoid the hotels in Dillon. I highly recommend that you check this place out if fishing the area with friends or family.
Thanks for the review, glad you liked the place. Sorry I couldn't meet up with you guys in Bozeman for a beer, next time for sure. I will be in Twin much more next summer.
Large cozy cabin in the heart of downtown!
We were in Twin Bridges for a high school reunion and loved our stay at the cabin! With so much going on, it was wonderful to have a quiet place to go home to. We could walk to everything downtown and never even needed the car! The beds are very comfortable and the house stayed incredibly cool even in the July summer heat. We look forward to staying here again!
Spacious, comfortable, creative living space
Joe has crafted a beautiful lodge out of mostly reclaimed lumber and materials. The story of the renovation of this building is fascinating. The outcome of Joe's epic project is a warm, spacious, comfortable place.
Joe was very welcoming in our contacts before and during our stay.
Dennis, come on back anytime!
Property is overall great and perfect for 4 guys.

Top Notch with Creative Flair!
Joe's Combat Fisherman's Cabin was the best. Not a detail was missing . . right down to linens and wonderful deep, comforting beds. Every dish, pot and pan was provided and even condiments like jellies and peanut butter. The place is huge! A perfect place to jump off and explore Montana's back roads or do some fishing nearby. THANK YOU, JOE!
Thanks Julie! Hope you found what you were looking for. See you next time. Joe
Lots of river and mountain activities, electronic poker machines in the bars, really nice walking path across the river at the Madison Co. Fairgrounds. Can walk from house
