About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Guest House with Garden Views, Kitchen, and Living Room

This charming Mexican-themed guest house is located in the desirable Beverlywood/Cheviot Hills neighborhood and within walking distance to the newly opened Expo Line train. It is convenient to downtown LA, Beverly Hills, hip Culver City, UCLA, USC and Santa Monica/Venice Beach. Return from your explorations through a private walkway to relax in a secluded, shaded garden.

This colorfully decorated guest house has a separate bedroom that opens onto a shaded patio. The living room has a 40-inch flat screen TV with DirectTV (HBO/Sports Package, etc.) and a convertible sofa bed. There is a fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower. Wifi is available inside and out.

The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and a walk-in closet. A third person can sleep comfortably on the convertible sofa bed. A portable crib is also available. There is no air conditioning, but fans and the afternoon ocean breeze keep the cottage cool most days and nights.

The fully-equipped kitchen includes: a stove, oven, toaster, coffeemaker, new refrigerator, and microwave. There is a kitchen table that comfortably seats three.

The cottage is situated a half-mile walk to Starbucks, Vons Market, Rite Aid, Subway, and Japanese, Mexican, and Chinese restaurants. Downtown Culver City is one mile away and boasts movie theaters, many restaurants and bars, boutiques, and a lively street scene. Two public golf courses and a public tennis facility are located a mile away as well.

Your hosts speak fluent Spanish, pretty good French, and passable Portuguese. They can direct guests to the city’s many attractions, including museums, hiking trails, surf spots, and ethnic restaurants. Babysitting can be arranged with notice.

This a non-smoking rental. Street parking is free and always available.

About John Lazar

Let us help you have the most amazing time in Los Angeles. We have lived in LA for almost 25 years and have made it our lives' mission to explore the myriad neighborhoods and activities that the city has to offer. We look forward to orienting you in the city, and sharing with you what makes us love this place. We have also raised children here, so we can suggest great activities -- often very inexpensive ones -- for kids of all ages.

Why John Lazar chose Castle Heights

We love our home and the casita! Our property has the best of suburbia and the city. The home is situated in a quiet, safe, community with lovely spaces to walk and play. However, in minutes you can be in DTLA, Beverly Hills, Westwood, Santa Monica, and Culver City. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails are a short drive away, as are some of the finest beaches in California.

Absolutely perfect!!

The casita was cozy and comfortable- perfect for me and my 2 kids! John and Ingrid were fantastic hosts, very welcoming and available for anything we needed. The location was ideal- the beach, downtown, and the airport just a short drive away... we would highly recommend the casita and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Nice, clean, cozy, wonderful neighborhood and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My stay was very enjoyable. A perfect location in L.A. for me visiting my daughter who lives just a 10 minute walk away. I had the feeling of "my own place" while there.

San Diego, California

Tons of room, easy to figure out.

  • 4 of 5

There are 3 full rooms plus a bathroom. Certainly not new but kitchen and bathroom had all I needed, though I suppose my wife, had she been with me, might have hoped for newer. I felt very comfortable and safe, not easy to find in the Big City. It seems to me that in LA, you're not looking to hang out at your VRBO but to have a clean and comfortable place to sleep and prepare for the next day. This one fits that description perfectly. Very centrally located in a nice neighborhood. I'll stay there again.

We stayed for 2 nights to visit my son and we all had a marvelous stay. The place was clean and had everything we needed for a comfy stay. The location was great and we were able to partake in LA's great food in different parts of the city. We would stay here again!

Oasis in L.A.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for a week and we couldn't jave been more pleased. Everything you would need is here. Cofortable bed, kitchen with all appliances in excellent working order, full Directv with Hbo, great garden like outdoors and the nicest hosts you could ask for. Central to L.A. highlights. Nice safe higher end neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again when visiting.
